That crossed my mind as well. I wondered if perhaps the mother had an affair or had been raped. JMOO

There has to be some reason--however, warped it is--for parents to do this sort of evil.

Rbbm, wish I agreed with you - having a reason, could, in some instances make things make a tiny bit of sense, but jme some biological/foster parents are just evil - simple and basic as that.
Poor kiddo for going through that, but he is smart, strong and brave - he escaped, sought food and help and thankfully someone did help him. He has a long road ahead and I'm wishing him all the hope and love I can for a healthy, bright and amazing future xx

A huge "thank you" to the neighbors who saw him and went to check on him. I think many people wouldn't think twice about a child walking alone down the street where I live, because it's very common. I think they must have been able to tell that something was wrong. Poor child was so brave to escape and seek help.

Uugghh-another case where the kids were homeschooled and not able to talk to people without the parents intimidating them! I imagine they didn’t get to do extracurricular activities or be around other children as well-sigh

Waiting for more info on the warrant, but in the meantime I am suspiciously eyeing the wording in the article above. There are exact dates with the statement given, along with the " over a period of three years". Who gave them that information? They had not yet interviewed the boy, nor the siblings yet as far as I know. Did the creatures called parents give out that info? Or was the abused and tortured child able to tell someone in authority that this has been going on since he was seven? I wonder...

and yet all five children who resided there were homeschooled and the four others had apparently not been subjected to the neglect and abuse the 10 year old was. I still am trying to understand what set him apart and put the target on his back.

He was reportedly not the oldest nor the youngest child in the household.

I remember how concerned we were about this with the Turpin children. Lots of similarities with this little boy. Horrific.

Because of his condition, he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Investigators say the boy had an extremely low heart rate at the time of his evaluation.

“This child was, simply put, being starved to death, and it is tragic,” Spalding County District Attorney Marie Broder said.

Oh my word! 10 years old and 36 pounds! They need to lock these horrible excuses for parents up for as long as possible!
Did this little guy go to school? Any extended family? How could they just watch their own flesh and blood starve to death?

I haven't read every link but I believe there's one here that said the extended family all live out of state.

IMO, His heart was affected, his GI system was affected, his kidneys no doubt were affected, his hormonal and immunologic systems were affected. This was THREE YEARS of abuse. My God. He is surely on thin ice, but prayerfully guided by earthly angels here. My ( Our ) tender hearts indeed. {{{ HUGS}}}
