I just went down the rabbit hole on the male abusers (I won't call him a Dad) FB page. I have a feeling we will be learning much more about this "family" in the coming days. MOO

and yet all five children who resided there were homeschooled and the four others had apparently not been subjected to the neglect and abuse the 10 year old was. I still am trying to understand what set him apart and put the target on his back.

He was reportedly not the oldest nor the youngest child in the household.

<modsnip: off topic> In this case, I wonder if he was the more outspoken child and one that was harder to break. I am glad he got away, and glad he finally can start getting everything he needs.

I'm about a half hour from Griffin, and when I saw this break on the local stations, I was horrified. And now in addition to "that poor child", I'm thinking "those poor children". I don't understand how this boy's condition wasn't noticed by anyone.

36 pounds?! That boy must’ve been a bag of bones. Heck, I was 55 pounds at 10 and I was 4’1”. I looked skinny too. That boy could probably barely prop himself up. Praying for him to have a nice recovery.

It is entirely my opinion, but I notice time and time again that abusive parents tend to choose homeschooling along the same lines as how pedophiles choose careers that put them in direct contact with children.

We all know there are awesome HS parents. These creeps just use it to hide their abuse.

As someone who works with children, as I work as a nanny (and armchair detective! ) I think it’s gross when people do this. I do in fact suspect the same things with abusive parents. They also choose jobs where they work form home or they are SAHPs.
