But didn't many of us on this forum recently look it up because of this case?

I have looked up a LOT of things (how to make chloroform, how to get out blood stains, how to process a carcass etc...) but no, I didn't need to look up how long it takes for a child or pet to die in a hot car.

Everyone here knows it can happen FAST! Even if it doesn't kill them there is a risk of SEVERE brain damage, some kids have survived for many hours but then been crippled for life afterward.

I said it before and I'll say it again....I can't help but wonder if Cooper had some sort of genetic syndrome or developmental disability that was going to make his life "so difficult" from his parents point of view, and they were convinced they were doing him a "favor." ((shudder))

someone commented on this in the first thread post 359 and recalled a CSI episode
that was ''kind of similar"

Very, very sad. I mentioned on another forum, there was a CSI episode several years ago where a father left his baby in the hot car and, being a CSI episode, it was determined that he had done so on purpose. I don't recall the ficitonal motive now, but I have to wonder if this father saw the same episode I am remembering.

genetic defect

couple had lost baby previously - 2nd kid had same defect - left in car in Vegas both parents in on it of course

" A.D.A. Jeffrey Sinclair decides to 'make an example' of a workaholic father who forgot his baby-boy in his scorching-hot car with fatal result, but the team finds the couple lost a previous baby and may have murdered this one.'

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0534685/...?ref_=tt_ov_pl

If I recall the episode correctly - parents had spiked his formula - put him out.....left him in triple digit car.

I don't know how to make this pretty but it was my post 359 first thread in answer to chiban

I agree, why Google this subject at all.. where is common sense? You don't leave a baby in a car. Imo it would be like googling temperature of flame on stove, how hot before your hand burns. You know it will burn so you don't do it.

Is Google replacing common sense. Jmo

ciao

Maybe one of them is a Websleuther. Due to this place, I google all kinds of strange stuff:)

There may be a life insurance policy....I thnk it's possible mom might b arrested at a later date. Something about this smacks of pre meditated by both to me. Why was he at day care if she didn't work, does anyone know, and have any friends spoken out or neighbors? If there is a huge policy w both signatures, then I Hv an issue. I already Hv an issue w "moms" comments and behavior at the funeral, putting him on speaker phone etc. I hick. Just sick that she isn't screaming from the rooftops. And odd. More than just odd. I thnk at this pt we all want to know, what the amt of life insurance was if any. AND when it was taken out. It could lead to other chrgs, in ca we call it special circumstances.

I was worried last night that she would try to claim the searches. Ugh. :(

Actually, it makes me think the horrific death of that precious baby was even more planned out than I originally thought. :(

And that's all I am allowed to say at this time.

What I have seen over and over and over again is wife supports, hubby through school.

He graduates. He dumps old wife for hot new babe

This case is starting to remind me of another one where the husband lied about getting accepted into medical school and kills his wife when she found out. She was found in the land fill later on.

If they had just moved from Alaska...maybe I would be more likely to believe in the research...

Harris is an IT guy and he has to know they are going to search his computer. He has to know how to hide stuff, but he didn't

I am just not seeing this as intentional yet.

I am gobsmack right now.

Trying to wrap my head about this latest revelation. I guess now I have a better understand about the united front being presented by the entire family.

I have to question whether she did her own research on hyperthermia or if she is simply saying she did some of the searches found on homes devices to cover for him.

Sitting here just shaking my head in confusion.

So we have a man who researches child death due to heat in vehicles and claims it was because he "fears something like this" and now allegedly his wife has done so also (reason unstated at this time) and yet this horrible event STILL happened?

Wow, these folks must be the most unlucky in the world or a lot of planning went into this tragic "accident"

ETA a big fat :cow:

Personally I think she's pulling a page from Cindy Anthony's play book. It worked for Cindy so she probably thinks it will work for her too. Although she can't entirely take credit because I believe from news sources at least one of the searches was done on his WORK computer.

I just hope this isn't another Caylee case where the child gets lost and it's a mad dash for the adults to circle the wagon and protect whoever is still alive, no matter if justice is never served.

It's pretty common from what I know to have life insurance as a benefit and you add dependent coverage too. I'd be surprised if there is NOT any insurance. She's employed too albeit part time but may have benefits.

Yes but we don't know if he explained why he was fearful. I don't think those affidavits have to go into the explanation. Just the statement alone was enough for probable cause. I just want to look from all angles. Its not likely a coincidence but I will be waiting on the date of the searches. If it was close to May 14th a defense lawyer will jump on this in my opinion

Well....He had a dream don't ya know. His father claims, the accused child murderer shared a dream he had where his child was sitting on Jesus's lap and his wife was working at a nursery.

Oh me to! I search everything involving cases I follow. Some would make people scratch their head I'm sure. I would have a lot of explaining to do but I could! I might have a random thought and look something up from an old case for because I forgot something but for the most part my searches can be connected directly to something in the news or I saw on TV.

I agree everyone knows cars and heat are deadly for peole and animals. I will say I didnt realize how fast it could happen. I recently read stories of kids going to get something out of the car or playing hide and seek and being overtaken by the head in mere minutes. I'm not sure what time frame I would have thought would be accurate because I would be way to paranoid to leave my child in the car more than 30 seconds to grab the mail or put my newborn in. And even then the car is running with air blasting and door open.

I just don't understand the funeral statements. I lost my brother, husband and my father all in a short amount of time all unexpected. I can not fathom saying things like this right after such a tremendous loss. Idk I just don't get it. Breaks my heart.

OR-

As we are learning more about Harris, maybe he thought he had planned this so well that it would never be looked at as anything but an accident. No need to hide that which won't be searched.
