I think she placed Cooper on his chest to a get of daddy with his son. jmo

isn't that what all moms really want???

a beautiful photo of their baby with the man they love -- the father of their beautiful child --

not too much to ask but mr grumpy doesn't want to

and that must have hurt her deeply

This is a total speculation alert.
I believe there is good reason for the police to say "driver's side door" and not to say "driver door". I wonder if that security camera footage at lunchtime shows dad putting the baby and carseat into the car through the rear drivers' side door. Although not on camera, I suspect daddy first took the baby and carseat out of the trunk (dead already at this point I am guessing) and put the baby into the car. Why do I think this? I am guessing that is why the cops are not specific about whether it was the driver side front door or back door (they want Ross to think they do not know exactly, that the security camera footage is too grainy). I also think it explains the breakfast at Chick Fil A despite the fact that daddy and baby already had breakfast at home. I think the Chick Fil A trip was to ensure people remembered him doting on his child before work that day and also to give him a chance to slip baby some benadryl to get him to sleep. Then a chance to make a big show of putting the baby in the car seat in the car - but then when no one was looking, to move baby to the trunk of the car so that if baby screamed no one would hear. This explains why baby was seen being placed in the car seat in Chick Fil A car park at 8:55am but by 9am just around the corner at Home Depot, the baby and carseat were not visible inside the car. I think baby spent the morning in the trunk, just to be sure he died. Then Harris moved baby into the car seat's normal position hoping someone would find him before Ross had to leave that day after work. This also explains why Ross did not have a plan after work - the baby was already meant to be found by then. When no one found him by 4:15, Ross had to leave and was probably panicking, not sure what to do (so much so that he did not think to go to the daycare to "pick up his son", which of course was his fatal mistake because if he had really forgotten his son was in the car the first thing he would do on leaving work would be go to the daycare to pick up his son). He drove in a panic, realized he could not fake it in front of the friends he was due to meet after work, probably was overwhelmed by the stench of a fried baby body in the car too.. so he just pulled over wherever he found an audience.
This was total speculation trying to make sense of the facts of the case.

I see no camera in her hands,

I do, it's to her right (our left) you can see the rectangle in the lamp. And if he was holding his own phone there it would have been in front of her and her reflection wouldn't show up in the lamp. His hand holding the cell phone or camera would.

  • #485
I wonder if it was her car and they switched due to the car seat being in it. Since I am waiting for all facts to come out, that would be a strike against him for me.

he's a big guy -- not a comfortable ride for him I am guessing

That is true.

As Chewy pointed out, you can see LH taking the picture in the reflection of the lamp. She definitely looks as if she is smiling. So lying relaxing at home with your gorgeous baby sleeping peacefully on your chest -and your wife smilingly capturing the moment on camera - what on earth is that facial expression about - would you not at least being giving a half smile in response?

What struck me most was that not only was he not even looking at his son or his wife when the picture was taken. His eyes are as far as they can get from his son. Added to the lack of smile is very telling to me.

]It's not a selfie, you can see the reflection of his wife taking the picture in the lamp behind him.[/B] Just something my obsessive observational skills noticed the first three seconds I looked at the picture. I told you all I have extreme detail abilities. LOL:blushing: You can even tell she's smiling in the reflection and see the camera phone she's holding up to take the picture turned sideways. (Stop Chewy!!! Stop it!!!)

And also, my observation, (totally my own judgment and bias) when I look at his mug shot is that I see deep depression in his face. Not sudden emotional outburst. I see it based on the way his second eyebrow lies over his eyes. Weeks of being depressed not a sudden outburst. No sense of anger or outward showing of malice because of the lack of crease between his eyebrows straight down. He's been crying for sure, he's devastated. I don't see an evil man I see a desperate one though.

Of course this is all just pony baloney years of reading faces. But if I were a cop working him for details I would think that he did it on purpose out of desperation and depression, not evil and horror. He's an overwhelmed man who turned his anger inward until it turned into deep depression.

JMCO.

And to add one thing, this has nothing to do with how I'm evaluating the evidence and why I want evidence and not emotions. It's possible I'm totally wrong, I'm usually not but it's possible. But even with my confidence I don't count it as anything more than a parlor trick and would be especially suspect of my own observations and bias informing my interpretation of the facts.

I just thought I'd share.

Since I started I thought I'd add a few more of my "observations" but please don't think I take them that seriously. I know absolutely nothing about this man or his life.

If you look at the picture of him lying down you see a double crease in his chin. If I were to evaluate this picture I would say that he spends a lot of time lying down in bed or on the couch on the laptop. That's what creates the second crease in his double chin. And because it shows up when he's standing up it means he lies down a lot on the internet escaping from reality. Based on the difference in his wife's demeanor on the lamp reflection I would think that Cooper fell asleep and that she brought him in and asked him to put down the laptop for a second to take a picture. She wanted the "doting father and son" picture. But at the time he was deeply engrossed in a movie on Netflix or something like that, and basically tolerated the picture for a few seconds and then went back to watching his show.

Permanent placement of a fan behind the lamp shows it's there for comfort, his cup is next to him on the bedside or end table. He's used to laying here during his day, after work etc.

Ok I promise I'll stop now.

.

bbn That appears to be a picture taped (I would assume) to the lamp. jmo

I think Justin Ross Harris looks pretty depressed in all his pictures and I am sure that will be a factor that caused this terrible outcome in some way. Sounds to me like him and his wife have some strange cult thing going on - she called him the "leader of our family" and she talked about how "broken" the world is - and how she did not want to bring her son back - if my child had just died, there is one thing I know with all of my heart I would wish I could bring him back! In context order above, newone was referring to view inside of the car of car seat- not outside.

The driver's seat offers the high seating position of a traditional SUV, but the roofline is low, and the rear windows taper off near the C-pillars.
***
Drivers around 6 feet tall may find the driver's seat cramped: It can only go so far back, and the doors and dashboard encroach on space for your knees.

Which to me means that as a tall guy he would have had his seat as far back as it could go and the baby car seat would have been almost wedged between the two front seats just to fit in.

As others have pointed out, this would have put RH's head and Connor's head within inches of each other (albeit facing in opposite directions) - I simply do not see how it would be possible not to see him or to forget he was there.

Leanna Harris has become a person of interest in an ongoing police investigation after her husband, Justin Ross Harris, discovered their 22-month-old son, Cooper, dead in the backseat of his car after he told cops he had forgotten to drop the boy off at day care before going to work.

http://heavy.com/news/2014/07/leanna-justin-ross-harris-cooper-baby-left-in-car/

So far only that article is coming up with "Leanna Harris Person of Interest" keywords. I guess we'll see if others will follow suit. If not, I think this article just got it wrong.

bbm IIRC The carseat was in the middle of the back seat, and not directly behind the drivers seat.

I am on "vacation" at my mother in law's and she has a Hyundai Tucson. They are not large SUV's by any means. I have a Subaru Forester and they are similar in size inside. Just a little larger than a car really.

Although Cooper was still rear facing, he had to be in a larger size car seat since the "infant" size only go to 20 lbs I think. Those seats are huge!!! especially when rear facing. My husband is 6'4" and when he drives his mom's car, the seat is all the way back. JRH's right arm would almost be touching that car seat.

And the question about how many car seats the family had. They are such a pain in the rear to install, I can't imagine they would go thru installing/uninstalling everyday. I'd rather give up food for a week than have to go thru that.

Interesting that mommy used to work in insurance (I wonder if they had a life insurance policy on the boy) and she currently works as a dietician in a kidney related health clinic. She would know how the body reacts to being dehydrated so would know how cruel a death her son experienced.. Also I would be interested to hear the toxicology results because if they gave their son benadryl before all this they would know if the dose was excessive or not.. I am guessing he was drugged so that he did not cry or make a fuss as he was dying.. and probably he was in the trunk of the car too as stated above

LOL, quite an imagination. We are going to have to agree to disagree. I can't see any of that.

I posted it before myself and commented that especially regarding Coopers position, it's usually a type of moment that elicits tenderness in the parent. I just don't see it in his father's face. <<Bias

Going to see if it's the picture I was thinking about.- Edit....yep!

bumping this for SStar
you can see the mom clearly in the lamp reflection -- can't see camera but it's right angle suggesting she's trying to capture photo of two people she loves deeply........her newborn and the man she loves....makes me sad

Do you have a link to her employment? We have been trying to find that out forever.

Also, are you sure that SUV has a trunk?

I can see it. I just don't know if it's a reflection or a photo that was taped onto the lamp. It looks more like a taped photo to me (because of its more perfectly square appearance), but I do see what appears to be her face. You can see a face, neck hair and possibly glasses, though that is hard to say for sure. What I can't see is her smiling or anything like that. It's too grainy to note the expression on her face.

I cropped the image:

Edit to add:

- with camera circled.

Can you see it now?

you can see mother's reflection in the base of the lamp ((looks like base is made of metallic material))
