If MH or any of his cronies made this call, which I would believe they did...I think they just may have done themselves in faster than what was normally going to happen.
Once again, I think you are truely CORRECT. It won't take very long to find out who made that call. I'll just bet MH is wishing about right now that he never thought of making that call. That is, if he hasn't already been arrested.

from another site:

I saw the WSBTV story on Dr. G's death threat. He said it was a male voice. Spoke quickly. "You better back off or you're dead." The call came soon after the statement was posted on findtara.com. He said he had no enemies. AG spoke by phone and felt encouraged that Dr. G. was onto something since no other GBI had gotten death threats. Dr. G said the FBI was looking into it

In the article it says
Godwin said he did not hit *69 which might have revealed the origin of the call. "I don't have that service. I mean, you have to pay extra for it. That's a service I don't have."
I don't care if I had to pay extra for it, if I was him and someone had threatened me, I'd use the *69 and pay the extra fees...although it does say that on the caller ID it came up unknown caller so it might not have worked but it was still worth a shot...

I have been following Tara's case and I pray they find her killer soon, before somone else ends up hurt...but I do believe that Godwin is on the right track or else he wouldn't have been threatened...

He is making inroads that had a roadblock before. Now people are coming forward with more info as they aren't as afraid. You can email Dr. Godwin and he won't identify you. He will use the facts. No local LE will know about you.

I think he means that he doesnt have that feature at all-not that he wouldnt pay the additional amount to check the one number..if its not in your package-its not there till u ask for it.
Its not him refusing to pay the 1.00 extra at that moment-he is saying he has not paid for that feature on his phone service-cell or otherwise

Maybe it depends on who your phone is through. I have Verizon...land line and if I got a call like that I could check it out for about $2.50. I've done it before and it will tell me what county the call came from but not who it was.
A lot of people have their numbers blocked now so their number won't show up when they call a person's home.

I'm glad that the FBI are coming in on this case now. When a person receives death threats you know they are getting close to the truth and someone wants them to get lost. It's good that someone made that call. Maybe this case can be resolved now. I hope the caller didn't make the call from a phone booth. If that is the case the FBI should at least be able to find out what city and state the call came from.

And come on Dr. G, what detective worth his salt doesn't have call return??? Unless he was using some phone provided to him by someone else?

inbelieveable..and no wonder this isnt getting solved..

Ain't that the truth. BTW, I read at Tara's site that Nancy Grace will be talking about this case tonight and doing an in depth in a few days. It seems they had trouble getting equipment to Ocilla.

I wonder if she got tired of my emails and figured this was better than hearing from me practically every night...LOL!

I wonder if he is just saying that he doesn't know the call is from as reverse psychology? I mean, he doesn't need to tell us but it could send a strong signal to the person who is doing it. He could indirectly be naming the suspect,
but if he comes right out and names the person, he could be slandering him or jeopardizing the case? Also, if the call is long distance and you try call return, I don't think it would work anyway? Not sure. Not even sure if it was long distance....

Edited to add: I believe it was long distance. It was to his home in NC. The call probably game from Georgia, right?

Here's a quote from the story...

"Dr. Maurice Godwin was compiling information for his report on his findings to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at his home in North Carolina when he reportedly received a phone call early Sunday morning.

“I caught the phone on about the fourth ring,” Godwin said. “I looked over at the caller ID and it said it was an unknown name. I answered it and a man said ‘Back off or you’re dead,’ and slammed the phone down.”

I have caller id and it doesn't work for me on "calls out of the area". Maybe for some phone services it does. But he probably doesn't have that service anyway so it's a mute point.

Anyway, I have been away for a few days due to a death in the family so I am behind and maybe there's been more said, so my apologies if the threats have already been cleared up.

I just checked all the Nancy Grace Transcripts for the past few days, and there's been so much news that this has gotten pushed aside, sad to say.

Court TV had this - is it new? It says two hours ago, and has a picture of Dr. Godwin:

Supporters Plan New Search for Tara Grinstead

http://www.crimelibrary.com/news/original/0306/2301_new_tara_search.html

This time, as family members and volunteers prepared to scour the remote swamps and shallow lakes outside Ocilla this weekend, they are keeping their destination a secret, in part, they say to avoid tipping off any potential suspects. Instead, they will disclose the targeted site, a small patch of land known to only a few in town, and then only as a kind of hidden haven, only on Saturday morning when the searchers convene.

As many as six dog teams are expected to join, the search, said Larry Gattis, which was prompted by what he would describe only as a "hot tip."

Gattis also said he is certain that the search will not trigger the kind of contentious confrontation that occurred last week when teams of searchers fanned out to scour property owned by the family of Tara's former boyfriend, Marcus Harper, a man who has been the target of rumors since the young woman vanished on Oct. 22. Authorities have not identified Harper, or any of the other men in Tara's life as suspects, and are still treating the matter as a missing person's case.

Thanks so much, Thoughtfox, it is new and new info. I have noticed that people are coming forward more with tips and other helpful info. Dr. Godwin mentions in the article that the killer came back "twice" after the murder. I wonder what evidence he has?

I knew there was a secret search as provided by the media report. I had also heard they were searching a pond, not a media report. I just learned that they have been searching on Sunflower Rd. in Ben Hill County since Saturday. Two deputys on the scene Saturday and Sunday. Today they are reported to be 15 Deputies on the scene. This is separate unconfirmed reports. Please pray for a resolve.

OK, just got a confirmation that my info is correct.

I am so praying for some answers. Tara deserves justice, and her family deserves answers. They certainly did not deserve murder or any of this trauma! :(

Prayers for resolve. God bless Dr. Godwin.

I also got a pm to listen to Fox News tonight. I assume this to be cable and not local. I will still report anything that is not confidential. Prayers for Tara and her family!
