Buzz Franklin, the district attorney for Walker County, recused his office from Theresa Parker's case because of potential conflicts.
Franklin wrote, Parker's estranged husband, Sam Parker the now fired Sergeant from the LaFayette police department is "a close friend of my chief investigator...as well as others in the office."

Franklin continued, "evidence suggests Theresa Parker may have been killed by Sam Parker although no body has been found."

Thanks for the info chico. Sounds like they definitely have way more info than they are sharing........

I keep checking in hoping there will be a break in this case. I just hate the thought that she probably is not resting in peace. Theresa probably paid the ultimate price for being a trusting person and attempting to see the good in someone she once cared for.
I never heard that story, Gagal, regarding the dragonfly but I enjoyed it and when a dragonfly rests on my clothesline I'll certainly be thinking of Theresa and others who touched my life. :) Thanks.

It sounds like LE knows the deal especially in light of the fact that the DA recused himself. It has to be prosecutable with as few muddy elements as possible. I wonder if a special prosecutor has been assigned to this case?

It also sounds like enough evidence has been accumulated from the home and vehicles. The home being the double wide that they shared.

It looks like they are getting the legal ducks in a row. Unfortunately there is no Theresa to bring home yet. It is tough in Georgia to prosecute without a body but it has been done. The head of GBI was in Lafayette recently (Keenan) that to me signals a serious turn. GBI heads don't travel that much IMO.

Dunno....but I keep going back to the FNC reporter at the "scene" saying that forensic evidence from the house and patrol car was sent to the lab. I'm not sure I'm clear on which home or both of them.

Where was the patrol car during this time of question? Early in the AM the truck was at the home then later on her car was there. Nothing's been said about the patrol car or where it was during this time. I would assume it was at his home but who knows? Did they ever really search the truck? Maybe when it was there during some of the searches it was searched then?

chico, at this point their home has been searched multiple times but also his late father's home and property has been searched. The evidence reported sent away earlier was from their house I believe.

His patrol car was searched and that was the other featured search in the news. But her car was reported searched as well.

I did not see a direct statement that his truck was searched, the truck he was driving carrying his fishing boat when he picked up his lawyer friend early Thursday morning to go fishing. This of course would be the most important vehicle to search.

The lawyer refers to Sam's car being searched, not sure if he meant his patrol car or just a general term for his vehicle, the truck. Sounds like the patrol car, though, and not sure why more is not made of the truck he was driving at the time she disappeared being searched instead of the patrol car.

He drove straight back to their house when he was done fishing but claims Theresa was gone at that tiime with her car still there.

Five weeks have passed since 911 dispatcher Theresa Parker was last seen by her sister Christina, and each day the heartache of her absence grows for her family, friends and co-workers.

They, along with others in the community who don’t even know Theresa, made up a group of about 90 people who turned out for another candlelight prayer vigil Thursday night at the pavilion of the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring.

They better step this up because people are getting frustrated with inaction. We have a reticent GBI as far as being aggressive. They are too afraid of conviction ratios JMO. When people grieve for too long then a chain will follow and the chain will determine who the next governor will be and who the next appointees will be and so on.

I believe they have enough, they need to act and help this family. If my frustration is showing it is well deserved as I live in this state and 20 years for an arrest is not good enough. Which is exactly what has happened before.

CP,
I'm not a state resident such as yourself, but I share in some of your frustration. I wish she'd be found, as with all other missing individuals. I wish for the person to be found, so that the body can be shown a bit of respect and dignity; and I wish that the body be returned to the grieving family members.

However, I think the DA and LE would make an arrest if they have enough evidence; since there hasn't been an arrest, I'm assuming they DON'T have enough yet. I hope for a speedy return of Theresa; but I don't want them to arrest and then charge a person with her murder (assuming there's been a homicide) until they've got enough to have a good shot in front of a jury. If they err on the side of caution while putting all the pieces together, that's okay by me. I'd rather make sure that the murderer (IF there was a murder) hears the cell door slam shut behind him....

You are correct, of course. If the charges don't stick then no justice will ever be served. I imagine this case is more complicated due to the fact that LE is involved directly or peripherally.

It is becoming apparent that recent murderers are getting very adept at hiding bodies. The only reason Sue Ann Ray was found is because GBI infiltrated Quentin Ray's group of acquaintences and one spilled the beans. Otherwise, his family shut the door and encircled Quentin and no info was forthcoming.

I don't have that link in front of me, but it seems that the local Sheriff's Dept for that county is excluded from this investigation, right? And it will be handled by an adjoining county and the GBI. Is the local LE outfit for LaFayette still working the case?

I too am very suspicious of all these inter connections Sam had with his buddies in LE. T'would be so easy for any knowledge to get covered up to protect a buddy. I wish OToH would come back and talk about the one co-worker that is a clone for Sam who has all of these munitions in his basement. I wonder if the Chief knows about this? Boy, if I had any specific knowledge I'd be the first to call him. I think someone like this guy knows what happened to her.

I also wonder what the evidence is they have that led that link to imply they have evidence against Sam to lead them to believe he killed Teresa.

I missed it...any new information come out...what did the sister have to say?

Shep recapped the basics and Hilda was on the phone with him. She said they are not getting much if any information from LE but that they also understand that. I didn't get the "push" but I missed some of it. I think the new info was just the reward fund but again I didn't see it all. It was just good to see it on FNC and keeping the word out.

It certainly wasn't the stuff news articles are made of! The 'ole
FOX leader that turns into a big poof! Rather disappointing I thought. I was thankful though they addressed the case again. It needed that.

Hilda is quite soft spoken, but one good thought I took away is that 'they' are still looking for Teresa every day. I think she meant herself and family as to 'they'. She has no desire to talk to Sam, thinks LE will discover the truth and is very confident in their capabilities.

Shep told her he would be on nerves edge after 5 weeks if his brother was missing. She remained soft spoken - what else can she do. She has a positive feeling about the investigation and that is what is giving her comfort now.

I am not very skilled at internet research involving archived news stories.
However, the following topics may be of interest if one could find the stories.

Some of the items here I know to have occurred. (known) Others are simply rumors (rumors). Worth a looking into maybe…

* (known) Sam Parker shot and killed a man several years ago while on duty with the Lafayette PD. Those that know him say he was never quite the same after that incident.

* (known) Sam Parker has a brother that is also in LE...

* (known) Several years ago BO WOODS, a WALKER COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT judge was involved in an auto accident where he struck another automobile, killing the other driver...

* (Rumors) that BEN helped SAM bury the body of TP. BEN was said to have been very intoxicated at the time and only remembers that he could see a flashing traffic signal from the burial site.

* (Rumors) that BEN and SAM helped cover up the details of a traffic accident several years ago involving a person of influence and power who was DUI at the time. The accident allegedly occurred in the early morning hours and was called into the 911 center by a passerby that did not stop. It is said that BEN and SAM allowed the “Influential Person” to leave the scene before further investigating the accident. The driver of the other vehicle in the accident was DOA. It is said that TP knew what had happened and was throwing around the idea of revealing the truth. It is then said that the “Influential Person” seized the opportunity to let SAM take the fall for the disappearance of TP. The “Influential Person” could not afford to lose popularity as his position of power was dependent on his character etc. SAM was able to get away with many things that most could not have as he was protected from punishment. BEN would have then known anyone with motive to remove TP…

Susan

Most of the state away. Walker is in the NW corner and the fires are way down in the SE part of the state. I've been watching that fire for two weeks now and thinking about our GA members that may be in the area. Homes have been lost and there have been multiple evacuations throughout this fire.
