What was the work schedules of Sam and Ben? I know that Theresa was on vacation till the next Monday, and that it was stated in an article that Sam was not scheduled to work Wednesday night, and that he worked Friday night.

Was Sam scheduled Thursday night, and what was Ben's schedule Wednesday and Thursday nights?

Much appreciated if anyone knows.

And might the influential person in the rumor be one Bobby Lee Cook?

Interesting,

That is what I am thinking since the poster brought his name up before.

No. That influential person was not rumored to be Bobby Lee Cook. Bobby Lee Cook is however rumored to be Sam’s attorney. Bobby Lee Cook is one of the best defense attorneys in the country. The influential person mentioned earlier was rumored to be a judge of some sort…

As for the work schedule, these snips were taken from the Walker Co Messenger…

Wednesday night- off duty
Thursday night- do not know. Went fishing from 6:00am til 3:00-4:00 pm
Friday night- on duty
Saturday night- on duty

“Sam Parker was not on police duty that Wednesday night

But Sam has earned her suspicion because he hasn’t contributed to the search efforts. “He came by here Saturday evening before his work shift,” the mother said. “He came in crying and saying, ‘What happened? We were going to part as friends.’”

At 8 p.m. Friday, Christina took the twins to a late ball practice. A few days prior Theresa had mentioned coming. “She loves my boys like her own and loved watching them play.”
They got home from the practice at about 9:30 p.m., and Christina called her niece in Florida, who is close with Theresa but who had also not heard from her. She then called her mother — same story. At this point, about 10:45 p.m., she thought to call Sam Parker, who was on duty but could be reached through the 911 dispatch.

“It took him about three minutes to call me back. He didn’t seem concerned. He was like, ‘Hey, what’s goin’ on?’ I asked him when was the last time he had seen Theresa, and he said he went to the house (on Cordell Road in LaFayette) on Thursday morning to get the motor for his fishing boat.”

So we still don't know Thursday night schedule for Sam or Wednesday and Thursday schedule for Ben. Those are the critical times. Odd it is not widely known by now.

Speaking of being back at house by 3 to 4 pm (Sam told soon to be ex mother-in-law 3 pm), that doesn't add up. Lawyer friend said they went to a barbeque place for lunch at 2:30. Sam says he was back at house at 3 pm and Theresa was gone, car was there (thought nothing of it, right).

Unless lawyer friend was way off or was talking about leaving for home from lunch at 2:30, then Sam is pushing when he got to the house. But fishing buddy could have been off I guess, but he said went to barbeque lunch restaraunt at 2:30, I believe.

Since Sam picked him up in truck, he supposedly would have dropped him off. When did he drop lawyer friend off on way back home? 2:45?

If not, any particular reason he would want it to appear Theresa was already gone at 3?

But maybe distances aren't that far and not that big a deal on time to eat and drive home.

It seems futile to try and figure this puzzle out with such little info.

Why is LE so stingy with information on a case such as this one? I do not understand why the investigation relies so heavily on keeping secrets and the hush-hush closed door attitude. What happened is done. There is no way to go back and change it. So why not make the public privy to acurate, up to date information? LE keeps asking for help. Yet, they play this childish guessing game with what they know. It seems like a “help line” would be better served if the helpers knew more accurately how to help. Does someone really think the “killer” could continue to keep his cover by knowing what LE had discovered?

Someone said something about tainting a potential juror… Keep the investigation under wraps so as to not screw up a trial. What?

I seriously doubt a juror of sound mind and body would be blinded from the truth for having known more information before a trial. Actually, I think that having a potential juror left in the dark for weeks or months prior to ever being selected to decide on a case like this one is worse than having that person informed as the facts unfold.

Obviously I don’t know a thing about prosecuting criminals. Could someone shed some light on me? Why all the secrecy?

OTOH...all good questions. I don't know, except to say that maybe they are hoping still to catch SP in some kind of lie. I think that is futile now - he has shown that he will stand up to quite a bit of pressure just like the monster who shares his initials.

I think you are right. If they would release more info, then the public might know what it is they are trying to remember before they forget it completely! The only guess I have is that there is no more info, and they don't want anyone to know that, especially SP. I hope that isn't the case.

Good questions, Otoh. The info I mentioned came from interviews of Theresa's mother and the lawyer fishing friend. It's not that the answers aren't known, newspaper articles just don't go into that kind of detail. I thought locals would know more details of the interviews than were printed from talk with those who knew the family or the fishing buddy.

It's just a matter of reasoanableness. Why would the fishing buddy say they finished fishing and went to a barbeque restaraunt at 2:30 and the ex tell his mother-in-law he was back at the house at 3pm?

The fishing buddy had nothing to hide and was basically defending the ex. How far is the fishing, the restaraunt, and his house from Theresa'a house? All close by, or is it totally unreasonable to think that they could go to lunch at 2:30 after a day of fishing and yet the ex is telling his mother-in-law and presumably the police early on that he was back at the house a half hour later and Theresa was gone?

I'm thinking the details of what Theresa mother and the fishing buddy told the press weren't secrets and were told to others, and that the family would know whether the ex worked Thursday night or not, and that many would know when Ben was working. Secret details only the police know I wasn't hunting for. :)

rd-

I realize you were not trying to spread any LE secrets. I just want to know why LE is so secretive in the first place. The tactic of going underground is not, in my opinion, a very productive one. The result is rumor, damaging misinformation, frustration and general chaos among those hungry for answers, who would like to help.

I ate lunch yesterday at the BBQ restaurant in question. I left the parking lot, traveled north and was back home in 12 minutes. I live 3 minutes from Cordell Road. I could have left the BBQ restaurant and traveled south, placing me at the fishing hole in 15 minutes.

So, the timetable is quite reasonable.

Local information is very odd. Even the “informed” sources seem to be confussed. I have spoken personally with 7 or 8 people in the last two days that usually know exactly whats going on in town.
The subject of SP BC and TP is whispered about as if it were some kind of poison, taboo tale from the crypt….

My opinion is that LE is bluffing their hand. I think they are drawing dead on the river and they are hoping someone will fold before they have to show their cards… By shutting up, they essentially moved all in. Poor strategy if you ask me. But, what do I know?

Thanks for the info on the locations and distances, otoh. That does sound reasonable.

If anyone hears of whether Sam was working Thursday night, or Ben on Wednesday and Thursday nights, that would be very helpful.

During Chandra's disappearance I railed against the DC police and FBI actions and non-actions, but I don't see anything obvious here that the Walker County LE could be doing different. But I'm not close to it, either.

With leads slowing and authorities keeping quiet, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson has implemented a tip line for anyone who has information about missing 911 dispatcher Theresa Parker.

~snip~

Last week, a newly appointed Rome Judicial Circuit District Attorney Leigh Patterson instructed authorities not to discuss the case, so Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson could not say much, even about the tip line, he said.

"One of the purposes (of the line) is obviously to generate information about the Theresa Parker missing person case," he said. "It will streamline information coming into investigators."

Until now, three separate numbers are there for the public to call with information on the case.

Ok, I found part 1 of this thread and started reading. Chico posted quote that Ben was also off Wednesday night:

LaFayette Police Officer Arrested In Theresa Parker Case
~snip~

LaFayette Police Chief Tommy Freeman said Chaffin and Ms. Parker's estranged husband, both worked the evening shift.

But he said they were both off duty the night she disappeared - Wednesday night, March 21.

Officials declined to say what kind of false statement Chaffin gave.

~snip~

end quote

I wonder if either one was scheduled to work Thursday night, although probably a moot point.

Yeah! It'd be kinda nice to know who was where from Wed to Sat or so. I remember early on that SP continued working because "it helped him to keep busy" and that was after she was reported as a missing person IIRC.

You know I honestly thought that the husband would tell what he knew (ie confessed) after he was fired. Since he'd been overwrought and recently depressed, I just knew he'd spill the beans. Boy was I ever wrong.

Me too. He went and got an attorney instead. To each his own I reckon.

I know and that's upsetting, to me anyhow. I mean, if he lawyered up, is he guilty? Prayers to her family.

Thankfully we all have the right to retain an attorney for whatever reason. That said, I can't help but think in a case where your wife or even your soon to be ex wife is missing that getting an attorney would be high on your to do list. It's not uncommon though because as we know those closest to the missing person have to be ruled out before that circle can expand. As a veteran LE he would know and understand that. Now, his attorney may have been retained due to those pesky explosives he had in his city owned locker and all his other woes could just be handled at the same time.

I think they are building a case and have been for quite a while. LE has all the info and we have what has been deemed neutral enough to be released to the media. I don't expect much info anytime soon unless there is a recovery or charges. I think its too soon for charges. I'm usually wrong though! :p

Yeah, thanks for the info on that, chico. Also, there were two or three posters who heard a local show where Theresa's sister called in and said she requested a welfare check on her sister in the early morning hours of Thursday.

She is quoted as saying that LE said the truck was there at 6am when they drove by, and her car was gone, and a couple of hours later the truck was gone but her car was there.

I understand the sister being worried overall, but from news reports, Theresa had told her the previous evening that her ex was acting very nicely to her by helping her get boxes. Any indication she did make the call and the county LE did drive by the house at 6am and a couple of hours later and note this about vehicles?

I go back and forth on this. Any lawyer or LE will say you should lawyer up ASAP. But as a cop he should know that it would only make him look guilty as hell.

I hate to judge someone for using the rights guaranteed by the constitution, and no one expected him to be wailing and gnashing his teeth over a woman who he was divorcing, but come on! Could he at least pretend to be a little bit concerned? As a cop - just on the grounds that there might be a predator on his turf? Couldn't he come up with something better than, "I was fishing?" (I guess he could have said golfishing...that would have been worse.)

I thought he would have caved by now, too, but like I said before - who'd have believe Scott Peterson could stand the heat either? I figured he'd confess years ago.
