I agree Same conclusion re Occams Razor me.
The number being deleted by the neighbor really bothers me for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

He works for the government, no Union!

USPHS is one of the seven uniformed services. They have the same rank structure as the Navy and NOAA (another uniformed service) and all wear almost identical uniforms. They have the same payscale as the military, the same benefits, and similar bonuses. The PHS is made up of officers only, there are no enlisted.

Not sure if he was in a union or was eligible to join, but the federal government does have a union: https://www.afge.org/

Is it possible that his performance in his position he was promoted to last July was not what it needed to be and he was being demoted?

Hey Everyone,

I think we can all agree that certain missing person's cases get a lot more attention than others.

Is it race, is it gender, is it age, is it background, you could go on and on but this is a different subject. Totally different subject.

Let's concentrate on what few clues we have to go on and figure out what happened to Timothy Cunningham.

Deal?

Thank you,
Tricia

Bumping Tricia's request from earlier in this thread.

Let's get back on track, folks.

Stop the bickering unless you want a timeout. All missing people are important and all deserve attention. There is not always a clear cut answer as to why one case or person gets more attention than another, but we are not going to have that debate in this thread.

This thread is for Tim's case and only for Tim's case. There are thousands of threads on WS that need time and attention. This is one of countless thousands, but we're going to stay on topic here.

This post lands at random.

hmm....now that’s a thought. A demotion would be even harder to take than not receiving a promotion.

I'm reading backwards so maybe late in posting this but from my understanding he was promoted to "Commander" in July 2017, but he was seeking another (current) promotion. I'm still digging around for details regarding the newer (replacing supervisor?) promotion that he didn't get.

"The employee, Timothy J. Cunningham, 35, was promoted to commander in the United States Public Health Service in July, his family said. According to the police, he was last seen on Feb. 12"

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/24/us/cdc-employee-missing.html?mtrref=www.google.com

And, a CDC page lists this:

"Dr. Cunningham joined CDC in 2010 as part of its Epidemic Intelligence Service and worked in the Division of Reproductive Health. Currently, as the Team Lead for the State Chronic Disease Epidemiology Assignee Program... "

Appointment Term: 2017–2020

perhaps there are two different types of promotions. One would be the United States Public Health Service ranking of Commander, which he received last year. The other type might be his job title, and the promotion of his job duties, which he was a team lead as noted in this link above?

Here is a chart of the US PHS titles, and Commander is rated as an E5 grade pay level. Screenshot_20180227-185905.jpg

Could be. I just don't know.

I did find this LinkedIn list of job vacancies (some for Atlanta offices)

But, I suppose none of this promotion/non-promotion job info can help in finding him :(

Following.

FWIW:

One of my friends from college got her Master's degree in public health and works for the CDC.

She does not have any social media accounts, not even a LinkedIn profile.

The Heavy article was good. I did an overview of where he works to his neighborhood. He works at the Chamblee campus of the CDC. Then zoomed in. If you want to check the map, use THIS MAP LINK OF HIS STREET HERE.

I just realized, isn't The area where he lives extremely near where Jenna van gelderen car was found, the missing girl that is on another thread here. I don't think the cases are related, but it peaked my interest.

Ive been following off and on all day today, here at WS and online. Im not getting any sense of what this could be! Is certainly is sad and concerning. There are things that make me think suicide mostly. So far, with what there is to go on, I don't see anything that would make me think murder, but murders happen all the time without reason. But the fact that his family is concerned about their last few communications with him and his "personal and professional" troubles unfortunately are making me lean towards suicide like so many others. I so hope not! For his sake and of course for the sake of his family.

I just did a spot of research. Jenna’s car was found on Defoor Place, which is at the outermost part of a neighborhood called Underwood Hills. It is a very short street right off Defoors Ferry Road. If you head west on Defoors Ferry, it eventually lands you at the junction of Bolton Road and Marietta Blvd. Tim’s home is in the Bolton Road area in a nice development, but there is a lot of seedy territory all around that immediate area. The one thing both places have in common is that they are both very close to railroad tracks. Underwood Hills is in the desirable Westside of Atlanta, and as such is a safer place to be in general. I am commenting as a former resident in Underwood Hills and as someone who has gone on many ride alongs with the APD in Zone 2, which encompasses where Jenna’s car was left as well as where Tim’s home is located.

Police have canvassed his neighborhood, nearby woods, a cemetery and other areas, finding no clues on his whereabouts. There have been no bank transactions in the weeks since, said Atlanta Police Maj. Michael O'Connor of the major crimes unit.

"The most unusual factor in this case is that every single belonging that we are aware of was located in the residence," O'Connor said. "His keys, his cell phone, credit cards, debit cards, wallet, all of his identification. Anything you could think of, we've been able to locate. None of those items are missing."

[...]

Fliers have begun circulating across Atlanta, showing Cunningham's magnetic smile and urging anyone with information to call 911. Friends say he is smart and caring, a man with a big grin who liked doling out big hugs to match his smile.

[...]

Cunningham works in epidemiology, trying to understand health differences across demographics. With more than 16 years of experience in public health, he has co-authored 28 publications on topics ranging from sleep deprivation to pulmonary disease, with a special focus on how health issues affect minorities. He worked on public health emergencies including Superstorm Sandy, the Ebola outbreak and the Zika virus.

The parents said they had a worrisome phone call with their son and exchange of texts the evening of February 11. "We've shared that with the detectives, and we've kept that as a private matter," his father said.

"As a parent, you have indicators when things are just not right with your child, and that was the case," he said.

His mother said she received a text message at 5:21 a.m. on the day he was last seen. "Are you awake?" her son asked.

Her phone was on silent mode. "I wish I had that opportunity to answer that text," she said.
