The judge said that even if #BoDukes didn't remember his conversation with John McCullough, he remembered burning #TaraGrinstead's body and that in 2016 it would have been the time to come forward. The judge is very emotional. #BoDukesSentencing #TaraGrinsteadCase

Judge is handing down sentence, #BoDukes 5 years count 1, 5 years count 2, 5 years count 3, 10 years count 4. That’s the maximum sentence of 25 years for his involvement in the #TaraGrinstead death.

#BREAKING: #BoDukes sentenced to 25 years, the maximum sentence, for burning the body of #TaraGrinstead and then lying about it in subsequent interviews. An emotional judge quoted Romans 3:23, telling him he could have come forward a long time ago.

Wow - this was amazingly fast, thank god. After trying to follow the McStay case this is a refreshing change of pace. I am glad he got the maximum sentence - I'm honestly not sure what to think about his level of involvement. He has other criminal charges pending, has charges related to violence against women, etc., ? Did him and Ryan do this together, and he was just either more remorseful and/or smarter to come forward to lessen his involvement or assuage a guilty conscience? Or did it happen as he said? I have no doubt Ryan was part of this, despite his last minute I was home sleeping with my brother alibi (uurrrrrkay), and his DNA in that latex glove definitely shows he was there.

That is very very fast. Quick jury verdict and then sentencing the next day. Amazing. You don't see that much anymore.
Like you Kittybunny, i'm not sure what to think of his involvement. I tend to believe his story, and almost have a bit of sympathy for him. But then I see those other sexual assault charges pending against him and....... nope, not sympathetic.

ETA, that is a bare-bones, old-school courtroom. I like it!

‘Reputations destroyed:’ Read Bo Dukes' speech to courtroom at Tara Grinstead sentencing
Bo Dukes, the man convicted of hiding Tara Grinstead's death, spoke to her family at his sentencing on Friday

March 22, 2019

"...After a four-day trial and guilty verdict this week, Judge Robert Chasteen, Jr. sentenced Bo Dukes to the maximum sentence of 25 years for lying to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and concealing Grinstead's death....

Below is a full transcript of what Dukes said in the courtroom:

'I’m thankful for this opportunity to address the court.

To Tara Grinstead’s family, I am truly sorry. Your long suffering has been unimaginable. My actions are cowardly, callous and cruel. I was more interested in self-pity and self-preservation than doing the right thing for Tara and for you. I pray for your forgiveness.

I apologize to those who were cast under a cloud of suspicion for so long. Reputations with their friends and family destroyed. I can never undo that damage and I sincerely apologize.

To local communities, I’m sorry for the years of uncertainty, of suspicion and mistrust placed even on the law enforcement community by my actions.

I apologize to my own my own family… my mother, and to Brooke Sheridan and her family. My actions and failures I am responsible for alone.

I failed Tara Grinstead, I failed her family, I failed the local community and I hope these proceedings have given some closure to the many people hurt by my actions. I want each of you to know I am truly remorseful. Thank you.'"

I still think he killed her. I am happy with the maximum for these charges. If it were the other way around and Ryan was helping him, if I were Ryan, I would grab some gloves to help carry a dead body too. Did Bo's Girlfriend get the reward? Seems a little self serving if so.

I don't know if we ever heard what happened with the reward.
I am sort of 50/50 as to whether he was involved in the killing. I don't for a second believe that she wasn't raped. I am sure that was THE motive, not robbery.

I can't recall @Gardenista - if you can get into the Georgia court system? Looking for Houston County - Bo's case #2019CR053334 - for the rape, etc. case. Wondering if there is a court date for that one?

TIA! :)

and edited to add - if you can find next hearing before trial for Ryan Duke?

I don't read that BD has even been arraigned on the dozen charges in Houston County. Hopefully this man will go away for a very long time -- longer than 25 years just received for Tara.

BONAIRE, Ga. — Bo Dukes now faces a dozen charges, including rape and kidnapping, after an alleged crime spree on New Year's Day.

A Houston County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Dukes on a dozen charges.
