There is a motions hearing scheduled for this Friday, July 16th at 9:30 am. I'm not sure what motions it's pertaining to or if it will be televised. If/when I find out, I'll be sure to let you know.

*Motions Hearing (@ 9:30am ET) - GA - Tara Faye Grinstead (29) (Oct. 22, 2005, Ocilla) – for *Ryan Alexander Duke (21 @ time of crime/33/now 36) arrested (2/23/17), indicted (4/2017) & arraigned (5/4/17) with 2 counts of felony murder & 1 count of malice murder, aggravated assault, burglary & concealing death of another. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Trial set to begin on 10/4/21 (thru 10/8/21).

1/11/21 Update: According to a Supreme Court of Georgia oral argument schedule & summary, Duke will be again appealing an Irwin County’s court denial of his request for state funds to pay for expert witnesses & an investigator. GA Supreme court will hear Ryan’s arguments on 1/12/21.
3/15/21 Update: The Georgia Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that private attorneys for Ryan Duke may seek to contract with a state agency to receive funding for expert witnesses. However, the court did not rule on whether Duke has a constitutional right to receive taxpayer assistance. 5/11/21 Update: Trial set to begin on 10/4/21 thru 10/8/21.
7/13/21 Update: Motions hearing on 7/16/21.
Accomplice:
*Bo Dukes: Found guilty (3/21/19) and sentenced to 25 years. 10/22/20 Update: A hearing set for 11/24/20, in Wilcox County for Dukes. The judge will consider Dukes' request for a new trial.

No, the video upload dates for "on the docket" nightly show are typically previews of upcoming court trials -- sometimes months in advance. It's been a busy summer for Court TV.

Hey! Apologies for the delayed response. The motions hearing that was canceled last month has been rescheduled for 8/31/2021 @ 9:30. At least that's what the court calendar for the Tift Judicial Circuit currently says.

From what I've been able to learn so far, there were several people subpoenaed at the last minute by the D. A.'s office to appear for the hearing in case their testimony was needed when it was scheduled for 7/16. It is also my understanding that Bo Dukes was going to be transported to Irwin County for this hearing. I do not have any knowledge of the motions to be addressed on the 31st so I have no idea why he would need to take the stand at any pre trial hearing. I knew he was supposed to testify during the actual trial and Ryan's attorney is also flying Bo's wife/ex wife down from New York to testify at the trial.

COVID delays trial in Grinstead murder case

Cobb County attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents Duke, said the decision to delay the trial was made during a conference call Wednesday afternoon with the judge and prosecutors. A clerk in Judge Bill Reinhardt’s office said an order had not yet been signed, but a hearing scheduled for Tuesday in the case has been postponed.

Merchant said the judge suggested a possible March date for the trial.
