GA - Twin brothers miss flight to Boston, found dead 24 hours later in Georgia mountains, 14 Mar 2025

I don't get the feeling that the firefighter who was arrested took the photos for the betterment of the case or for some noble reason. He's no hero, imo.

MOO.

They were at their sister’s house watching movies and left around 11 PM on Friday, March 6. After that, nobody knows what happened, and that’s where all the speculation begins. We know their flight to Boston was scheduled for 7 AM on Saturday, March 7, but we don’t know for sure what happened between leaving their sister’s house and getting up to go to the airport. It’s possible they went home for some sleep and planned to get up around 5 AM to make their flight, but we don’t have solid details on that part.

One of the big questions is: Who was supposed to take them to the airport? Or were they planning to go themselves? The flight time, coupled with the unknowns around what happened between 11 PM and 7 AM, raises a lot of questions. Did they make it home after leaving their sister’s house? If so, what happened next?

I’m also struggling with whether they could have been going to meet someone for the purchase of something—possibly an illegal substance—that they were going to take to Boston with them. The problem is, if it was something illegal, they never would have made it through airport security. But young people don’t always think clearly, and maybe they were planning something without considering the risks or consequences.

Additionally, law enforcement has stated that a gun was found, which raises the possibility that they may have had it for protection, especially if they were going to meet someone for a purchase. If they were meeting someone in a potentially dangerous situation, carrying a gun would make sense, but it also complicates the situation further.

There are still so many unanswered questions. Who was supposed to take them to the airport? Did they really make it home after leaving their sister’s house? Were they planning to wake up at 5 AM for the flight? The timeline remains unclear, and the missing details make it difficult to understand what happened, but all of this uncertainty points to something going wrong after they left at 11 PM, especially considering the flight they were supposed to catch the next morning.

Please know that this is all speculation, and I’m just trying to come up with a theory to make sense of all of this. It’s horrible to think that two young men with so much potential have died under such tragic circumstances.

Edit……While I'm exploring these theories, I’m not saying that a murder-suicide is not possible, but I’m just trying to make sense of everything with the limited information available.

I noticed that they were handsome and had they started earlier, probably could have become models, they had it in them. But 19 is too late in that business. At the same time, they look slightly naive for their age. Don't know about the gun, even in my state there are stupid loopholes to obtain one, and probably more so, in Georgia.
My vague suspicion: probably catfished in some way, and later, blackmailed. They don't look angry, aggressive or "bad news". They look like kids who can be exploited for their good looks, ambition, taste for clothes. I'd look at their older "street smart" friends and SM.

I appreciate your perspective. Very good points

Bolded by me.

I hadn’t thought about that, and that is a very good question!

I’m not so sure about catfished or blackmailed, but I could certainly see perhaps being influenced by people that the family might not be aware of.
If it’s not deemed a murder-suicide or suicide pact with definitive evidence of such, I think your idea should be looked into.

MOO.
I am curious, why do you think this? Do you not believe it possible that he was charged and arrested because he let proof out that Murder/Suicide is not likely? That there might be LE trying to cover their tracks? This is a real question, people who know me know I just want to understand why others close the door to some possibilities. I don't rule out nefarious by any means, but I do have an open mind because I am intimately familiar with LE covering their tracks and having to fight to get actual proof into the open air. LE is like every other group of people, there are good and bad and everything in between. IMO.

For me, that students had the pictures does not mean the firefighter gave them to the students. It might, but he was not charged with any crime relating to that, so I don't think there is any proof of it. We all know how things go viral. If anyone thinks that some of those students don't still have the picture(s), I laugh. And now it's out and cannot be taken back even though google tries really hard to pretend it was never there.

I can see different sides, the side where someone sees something not right and takes the pictures, then when LE says M/S, they are shown to someone, maybe even asking what they think. And the image(s) escape into the internet wild. Otherwise, why weren't the pictures all over immediately? Why wait? That is the part that give me pause.

On the flip side, the picture(s) could be someone proving something to someone. So many different things this could be and none of them good. I put this in the nefarious category.

And on the sideways slant, just might be someone who wanted their 10 minutes of fame amongst people they know whether in a selfish manner or a clueless manner. I don't consider this nefarious, BTW, just poor moral character. Your mileage may vary.

In addition to “keeping photos as the proof that it was not a murder/suicide” and “sending the photos as the proof of “something” to someone”, there is one more option.

That he took photos of dead people because of certain enjoyment.

If he were not a first responder, I’d seriously weigh in this possibility. But his position, a volunteer first responder, covers him.

Strip him of this position, and it is beginning to look scary. Sharing it looks even scarier. It just gives a weird vibe.

Given that the young men were not known to be frequent visitors of the mountain, I doubt that the guy is involved, but his behavior is scary.

Fair point. That wasn't on my radar, but definitely could be possible.

Agree, freaking scary! We don’t know that this creep hasn’t done this before, or if race played a part in why he took this particular photo. But the description others have suggested - a sundown town (area) - is certainly a possibility here, MOO.

Maybe because of the high profile nature of the case, and because the GBI is the lead investigative agency. It was the first time he got caught and then actually charged with a crime.

Interestingly, one of my best friends is an identical twin and her relationship with her twin is not so tight, though they talk every day.
Deep down I feel they both are super connected and in many ways are alike personality-wise, but her twin is harsh and demeaning to her, super competitive about everything,. She’s just mean and apparently was as a child too. Everybody tiptoes around her trying not to set her off.
Identical twins are not always identical I guess.
I get that, the first born twin 1 (by 7 minutes) has bossed the timid twin 2 around her whole life. BFF's but not an equal playing field.

I wonder if these young men had a similar situation? One the leader and one the follower?

Clipped by me.

Sister saw them Thurs. evening 3/6
They were to catch flight 7am Fri. 3/7
Stepmom says they were last seen 3am Sat. 3/8
Investigator says no, last seen 11pm Fri. 3/7
Found deceased Sat. morning 3/8

Family says after sis saw them Thurs 3/6, they headed back home (to dad and stepmom's house.)

They were seen Fri 3/7 11pm, hours after their flight, but the rest of the family says they thought the twins made their flight.

No info on who saw them, although it could be stepmom. She said they were seen after their flight --- but not by who.

Family is "still working to figure out when the twins were last seen leaving their home in Lawrenceville." (Where they lived with dad and stepmom.)

From linked article below:

"Last time they were actually seen? Stepmom originally said Saturday at 3 a.m. Investigator said 3 a.m. as well, then investigator changed it to Friday 11 p.m; he stated that he converted the time wrong."

UPDATE | Mystery on Bell Mountain

A mystery is unfolding on Bell Mountain in Towns County Georgia after the bodies of twin brothers from Lawrenceville were discovered nearly 90 miles from home.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is initially treating the case as a murder-suicide, but the victims’ family is pushing back, saying that explanation doesn’t add up.

Qaadir and Naazir Lewis, both 19, were found shot to death Saturday morning by a hiker at the summit of Bell Mountain, near the North Carolina border.

The family said the brothers had booked a flight to Boston for 7 a.m. last Friday but never made their flight. Just 24 hours later, they were found dead in an area the family said they had never visited before.
The family said the brothers' plane tickets were found in their wallets on the mountain.

TODAY I got a couple more questions answered from the family |

1) Was their car found at Bell Mountain? Yes
2) Last time they were actually seen? Stepmom originally said Saturday at 3 a.m. Investigator said 3 a.m. as well, then investigator changed it to Friday 11 p.m; he stated that he converted the time wrong.
3) Did they have their luggage with them? No
4) Phones on them? Found in car
5) Did they check into their flight? Unsure.

"The family said the twins had been at their sister's house in Chamblee the night before, on March 6, watching movies before heading back to their home in Lawrenceville, where they lived with their stepmom and father.

The family said the twins were in good spirits and again, were expected to get on a plane the next morning.

The family said the twins' father can't speak after suffering a stroke.

The family said they're still working to figure out when the twins were last seen leaving their home in Lawrenceville."

I’m still surprised by how little we know about them. Literally no one but family has come forward to speak in the media - MSM or social. They aren’t on social media anywhere that I can find. Which isn’t unheard of, but for their age, is IMO unusual.

No friends, teachers, neighbors, employers - no one wants to speak out about what happened to them?

None of that makes sense, without - the who, when, & where. Why is there conflicting information from different family members? Does the group who has been speaking out, not communicate directly with the stepmom? I wonder if the twins got along with her?

Would someone please refresh me on what the trip to Boston was for?

I'm having a difficult time believing two young men of that age would willingly miss that adventure. Naturally, I have only my son and his friends (and my own youth) for comparison.

I don't think there has been any definitive statement regarding intent of this trip.

The only reference I have seen is "to visit friends".

Guess sometimes we all see cases worst thing is when then don't tell us the proper leads they jump to conclusions or what have to many other cases yes tht true but when comes to solving a murder cold case or and situation time is valuable every second counts so to me at the point u give a case the next thing is leads to solve but when GBI or whomever is off in a investigation to me they need investigated this 2025 it hard trust anyone we need officers officials FBI GBI cops investigators specialists in the field we as Americans or any country can trust today it hard trust u hve get out there sometimes be the homeless man walk in shoes of victims know we are Americans we need take out country back start with our voices I just so thankful for this app God bless u

It's heartbreaking to see the faces of these two beautiful young men and know they are no longer with us. :(

IMO, I'm afraid the speculation is also due to extended family members who are being vocal and given air time to dispute the preliminary finding by the GBI (and even the primary family).

Reportedly, the young men lived with their father and stepmother in Lawrenceville who would also be the legal next of kin and the party receiving info from LE. From the stepmother, we learned early that the twins missed their flight to Boston, their shared vehicle was found at Bell Mountain-- with their phones, wallets, tickets, and luggage found inside the vehicle -- all seemingly being discounted by the extended family - as if this info is not credible.

IMO, the parents know and are dealing with the facts.

Meanwhile, the funeral/memorial goal at $20K by extended family has far been doubled and I hope some of the funds raised can be used to raise awareness on mental health-- especially for young black men as there's long been a stigma here. MOO
