13 Reasons Why is a story that tries to educate people, especially young people about suicide. So if they watched it they would have been given lots of information about why NOT to do it or recognize signs of a suicidal person.

High school nowadays is much more brutal with cell phones.
 
some released info that may lead me one way or another....
-the plane tickets were found in their wallets as per link in post #1. if a planned suicide, why print those or hang on to those at all.
-the mountain can't be that isolated if they were found the next morning (presumably) by a hiker. if a planned suicide or a planned dumping/execution spot, why not choose somewhere less traveled?

I would be very interested in learning (if LE/family decides to release it);
-if the entry +/- exit wounds are anatomically consistent with a suicide and handedness of the brothers
-fingerprint results from the weapon
-presence of GSR on either or both of the brothers
-phone data indicating when they went off the map (phones found with bodies? i dont think its been reported)
-when the plane tickets were booked (planned trip vs spontaneous trip)
-if there is evidence at the home/at the scene that they had packed for the trip (other than the ticket in the wallets)

the fact that they were found so soon postmortem (i see DLC was 11pm thurs) will be so so beneficial IMO forensically, hopefully trace evidence, an uncompromised scene (safe for the hiker who found them), and any relevant toxicology will all be possibilities!!

Someone took them since there is no mention if them driving or a car found there. It looks like a popular place easily accessible. I'm not sure how to take the graffiti. I just think of gangs and that may not always be logical.

If it was a gang.....initiation can be a killing. Throw in the history of the area and that concerns me. But killing at a gang hangout would be stupid.

darn it...looking at a 360 view of the parking lot (from 2021). its free parking (no credit card records to look at) and it doesnt look likely that there are any cameras. wonder when the last street camera/intersection camera would be on the trip up to bell mountain.

question; has it been reported WHERE on bell mountain the brothers were found? im asking because the parking lot is right next to a very beautiful, but incredibly steep, drop-off point. if i was strong enough and wanted to dispose of remains...the cliff wouldn't be the worst place to do it. of course, if they were found on one of the ledges, I don't think LE would be querying murder-suicide so quickly IMO

Someone could have shot them, cleaned the gun, put it down, and left -- leaving (supposedly) no trace of someone else who had been there.
If there were no prints on the gun, then there is no way one of the twins had done it. If gloves were used by one of the brothers, there would likely be prints or gloves. JMO.
Do we know anything about fingerprints on the weapon? If so, I feel sure we won't hear about it any time soon. JMO.
Wondering if this situation is going to be a quick solve or a long one..
Strength and condolences for their mother and for the other ones who loved those young men.

This is starting to remind of that woman from Athens GA, Debbie, I think her name was? She drove to an out of the way Dollar General (?) And bought some items, then went to a pull off and set herself on fire. Everyone on here argued for days about what happened to her! In the end, she sadly did it her self.
 
There is a gas station at the corner of Shake Rag Road & Hwy 75, it has a camera pointed at the road. Many other opportunities as you drive up SRR, with all the homes on the way up to Bell Mountain. Hopefully the GBI is able to spot thier car to help with a timeline.

I think many people don't realize how prevalent suicide is, until it happens to someone they know. Suicides are often kept quiet by the family so people outside the inner circle have no idea the real reason a person has died. When a family member of mine committed suicide a couple years ago, I was instructed by his parents to not tell anyone. It was never talked about again, at family get togethers, never a mention. It makes me sad that there is still such shame and stigma around it.

If someone took them there, then there may have been a discussion about how and when they planned to return. If it was a regular under or taxi, then the driver will be found.
 
Reviews of Bell Mountain at link. Most every comment mentions how steep the access road is. Some parked at the first parking area, then walked to the top parking lot, where you can access a steep set of stairs to a lookout deck.

Just seems like a really odd choice for two teens who weren't into nature or hiking (per family). After looking around, I understand why the family is suspicious.

I've looked for their social media, with no luck - anyone else?

 
If this was a murder-suicide, I am assuming that it was something they both agreed to. Maybe one didn't have the courage to do it to himself? I know it happens, but I just find it hard to believe in this case, that one twin would maliciously kill his twin. It is sad that one twin will be labeled a murderer, but understand that LE has to be accurate in their findings. Such a devastating event for their family.
 
I live minutes from Bell Mountain and have driven to the top many times. There used to be game cameras on trees near the top of the mountain, so that the city could allegedly catch vandals who spray painted the rocks. The rocks still get spray painted, and if I’m not mistaken, there is a metal rod gate to keep vehicles off the top area after dark, I have not been up there in a couple of years, so cannot verify that the game cameras are still there. I would assume the GBi would have inquired with the town or County re:cameras

Installed in 2021, wonder if they are still in use and if one of the lower cameras caught anything?

So last year a Black man was found hanging from a tree in the same county and also ruled a suicide by the GBI. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but it strikes me as very odd that, in a county that had a 1% Black and 96% white population in the 2020 census, Black men keep "committing suicide" in hiking areas.
