FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the suspicious deaths of two women in Rome.
The women were found underneath the Etowah Bridge on Wednesday by workers near Gizzard Park.
Floyd County Chief Deputy Coroner Connie Chandler confirmed the identities as: 19-year-old Vanita “Vera” Richardson, and 30-year-old Clarice Truvenia “Bean” Campbell.

The women’s bodies were “apparently dropped over the (Etowah) bridge,” GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Brian Johnston told the Rome News-Tribune.
911 calls from the people who found the bodies said that they had bags over their heads and that their clothing was tattered.

A scanner traffic report indicated that the sisters were found with plastic bags over their heads and shotgun shells beside their bodies, although authorities haven’t confirmed the information.
