Garrido Says Dugard's Rights Violated

JC's attorney, MS, says in a press conference that JC and her mother "have been very guarded in allowing the girls, in particular, access to tv news, internet, newspapers and those kinds of things". I take from this that JC isn't being kept from media information but that the girls are. Her therapists may have advised that she not access these things, but she is an adult and can do what she wants. Here is where I obtained this info...

It's reasonable to draw that inference from the lawyer's statement but according to this article Jaycee isn't allowed to watch tv, listen to radio or read newspapers.

I'm not familiar with radar online so know nothing about whether or not it is a reliable source. Do you know a source that specifically says differently than this article?

Well, they didn't have their mother wrenched from them, they just grew up with her as their sister and they gained a grandmother and an aunt. The trauma would be learning what a monster your father is and what he put your mother through, so I think they will need lots of therapy to deal with this....

That is how you would look at it if you woke up one day in their situation. But that is not how they will see it, they have a different life experience than what you have. Their standards and expectations will be completely alien to you. Unlike you they have actually lived their lives, it isnt something they read about in the newspaper or watched on TV.

I'm guessing that her lawyer knows more about her current life than some gossip blog.

And in any case, unless she was under arrest, the cops can't stop her from doing those things.

Probably so, but her lawyer doesn't actually say that she has access to media. The statement that he makes in the cnn link allows for the interpretation that she has access but it doesn't contradict the report at radar online either. They could both be true.

Yeah, I don't know if JC does or doesn't have access to news, she may not even want to watch. And since we don't know what she or the girls had access to over the last 18 years, they may be used to no T.V. or current newspapers and think nothing of it. I just posted a link that I felt was a reliable source.

I dont think Linask is talking from her personal experience but it is more rational and Blood is always thicker then water, I am sure the girls have a strong enough bond to JC that will continue to grow more and awaken to the horror the Gs inflicted on JC, and the life style they all lived.

Going into the world mixing with others they will realize many things one of which is they were kept like animals in the back, and he lied to them and ripped them off having their real Mom, they will continue to have many feelings, but they are young and time is on their side.
Their standards have changed and will continue to change.

some people stay stuck in standards, some get lucky and bust out, some are courageous and fight their way out.
but standards is no reason to stick your head in the sand.

jaycee is quoted as telling her mom and dad that she felt guilty for feeilng bonded to garrido. thats a far cry from "beng in love" with the loser. i saw this garbage in the aisle at the grocery store and felt the urge to rip it up

I don't know how accurate this is, but it kind of goes with what her step-father said, that she has strong feelings for Garrido and viewed it almost like a marriage. I sure wouldn't be surprised if this was accurate. She spend 18 years there, and apparently never tried to leave or escape.
My guess is that she would need a lot of deprogramming.

Yes I know it's NE. And so what? They broke John Edwards story and he had to admit to an affair. So please don't tell everything they publish is garbage because it is not. They do investigative journalism and can be pretty accurate like with John Edwards' affair.

It is disgusting to contemplate, however, I don't see it as impossible. As well, I would NEVER hold it against her - she's had 18 years of that freak abusing her, it will take time for her to get better and she may never be 100% what she could have been without him.

I don't read the NE, they get a lot of threats about being sued but seldom are, and the generally win - but they have lost a few because they were inaccurate.

I have no idea how they would get it, but how did they get the photo of Edwards in a hotel holding the kid? That was the right kid, in fact. Edwards had to admit to an affair after that.
