Christ! If he beat her with the bat as well, then, I have no words! That article says she was wearing a nightie too. An intruder in a nightie? Of course. It seems pretty obvious something caused them to have a massive row in the night and Oscar to go crazy. Sickening.

I didn't believe the intruder story. You never shoot before you see who it is. And how can she surprise him if she was already there and police called 2 hrs before? But the cricket bat? Was this before or after shooting her???

The latest story in the media is that Reeva was shot once in the hip in the bedroom and the other three shots were in the bathroom. Two shooting locations PLUS a weapon that must be used in close quarters?? Intruder, my foot! MOO of course.

There's no way this was an accident. She arrived earlier in the day as seen on CCTV, at night she in her nightie, the neighbors heard shouting and screaming and she ended up with a crushed skull and being shot 4 times. that's no accident. JMO.

I had not heard about crushed skull. That certainly changes it a little, huh? But still will hang on to here more facts.i keep hearing contradicting reports. I'm hoping early next week there will be a more complete report.

That's my suspicion as well. If she was shot through the door, while in the bathroom, she could have run and hid in there, and then got shot.

There is a huge amount of speculation and not much fact at the moment...I have heard and read numerous contradicting reports. Such as what she was wearing when found, some say black hoodie and track pants, others say her nightie...on the day of the murder his father claimed he didn't know anything and had NOT met the girl however, their statement contradicts this by saying the family had come to know and love Reeva well the past few months. Etc etc, there is too much to list.

For the record, I'm live in South Africa...the intruder story could have been believable were it not for the fact that he shot her numerous times...we live in a high violent country where many fear for their lives...the last few years there have been many news stories about people accidentally shooting loved ones thinking they were intruders, most recently a father shooting his 8 year old dead, through a door when there were actually intruders in the home.

The mood on the ground is absolute shock, I don't think in my lifetime has there been a bigger news (scandal) story than this...everyone is talking about it. Also,not to take away the seriousness and tragedy of this but Reeva was pretty unknown in the country, they were not the Posh and Becks nor the Golden couple of SA.

Our criminal justice system is known to screw up investigations regularly ( not the sharpest crayons in the box) so I really hope they have their very best people working on it as Oscar has some of the biggest names in the industry representing him, there is a very good chance he will get bail this week and predictions are it will be as low as 20-25k ZAR.

Currently, the latest rumor, told from a friend of a friend of a second cousin via twitter haha, that the story could very well go something like this:
They have a fight middle of the night, neighbours hear shouting etc,call security and Reeva leaves the house....2 hours later, she returns to the home to try make amends etc and that's where it gets ugly. The cricket bat has NOT been confirmed.

Nope, he initially started to sob when the magistrate greeted him...told him to take it easy and sit down. I don't think the murder charge is in dispute, we all know Oscar killed her....but was it premeditated(prosecution)or manslaughter(defence).

Hi Carol,

I noticed you said that you are in South Africa. Can you tell us what the mood is in SA about Reeva Steenkamp's family so unflinchingly putting all their support behind Oscar?

I find it disturbing that her own family is backing him with no reservations.
