General Discussion Thread #1 -Bail Hearing

Prosecution is going to have a hard time proving there was any issues between Reeva and OP I think. That's going to hurt their case.

I really can see it being an accident. But I still have that bit of doubt, what if it wasn't and he'll get away with it? From what we are hearing their relationship sounded solid and loving.

Thanks Lola, chat later!!!

Sorry guys, Im also useless with updates now cos Im leaving for home now too!!

Nair now recapping detective Hilton Botha's evidence. No mention of Botha's own troubles.

Pistorius's neck quivering, body shaking

Pistorius's brother Carl sitting on the edge of his seat, back ramrod straight. Sister Aimee also leaning forward with expression of grief.

I'm listening to it live on Norwegian television.

Getting the vibe the court is going to let him out on bail.

Surely at some stage she called out? Whether it was telling him to stop (if it was straight out murder), or yelling out, it's me, Reeva (if the intruder angle is correct). If he was yelling out, I cannot imagine she was silent herself!

Tough moment. "@shapshak: #OscarPistorius Looks like he is going to burst. Face red, veins on his forehead popping. Staring down."

The only out here (which admittedly is slight) is that when she was in the bathroom she heard him screaming and thus though he was yelling at an intruder and not at her.

It is a complete insult to Reeva's family and SA to suggest OP will be back out running and training if released on bail.

Absolutely outrageous, if you ask me.

I completely agree, it is absolutely appalling - his coach makes it sound like OP has been charged with a minor traffic offence, a mere blip which is getting in the way of his training and career

I sincerely hope there is justice for RS but am beginning to seriously doubt it, as I listen to the hearing today

I can't believe there's even a possibility that he'd be let out on bail. He shot through a locked door in a small space, knowing someone was there, by his own admission. That's premeditated, that's murder, and no matter how many crocodile tears he sheds, he can't undo what he did. I liked that article that said he's appropriating the victim status from Reeva. So true! He was the one shooting, he didn't have to kill.

IMO it all balls down to the ballistics. If he lied about not having his prosthetics on when he shot her and the state is confident they can prove that, then he should not be released on bail. I wonder if they have the results back yet. Also was there an autopsy done and results back yet? Also the analysis of the mobile phone messages. It seems that the prosecution deos not have all the evidence they need yet. but I hope for South Africa's sake they he does not get bail. It seems to me that they need to take a stronger stand against violence especially against women and even use this high profile case as an example and OP needs to learn that he cannot keep getting away with things.

Totally agree with all the above.

Am sure I heard a snippet about OPs lawyer ( who turned up mega quick on the morning in question ) had taken away a mobile phone and the prosecutors have so far not had sight of this phone ?

Also, the lawyer turned up with a locksmith !! before the paramedics, so that they could open the safe.......this all sounds very very organised to me, not the actions of a grieving partner

and.......is anyone else surprised that a funeral, and more importantly, a cremation, has already taken place ? I am sure here in the UK that would not have happened yet in case of need for further evidence and additional post mortem to be carried out

He is absolutely portraying as the victim here ....

I am sure he will make bail and furthermore, I expect him ( or his slick lawyers ) to then raise a case for dismissal of the accusation and ask for compensation for OP, for the stress he has been put through

If he takes this long to deliver a BAIL verdict imagine the trial itself!

Well looks like Nair is getting his moment of fame, he is now top trend on twitter !

If he gets bail, he gets away with murder (hops on a private jet - poof!). So disrespectful to Reeva's family..
