Were the parents even in that apartment when she was crying and calling?
No, they were out eating. And I don't know why Mrs. Fenn didn't call the police either, but it does sound as if she notified the resort staff who then confronted the McCanns. Maybe Mrs. Fenn didn't want to get involved.

I can't keep up with all the threads, but does anyone have a clue what the "mystery object" is? Is it the stuffed cat?

'Mystery Object' In Madeleine Case

Updated: 05:59, Wednesday September 12, 2007
<H2>The judge in the Madeleine McCann case will have to decide later if the prosecutor can make an emergency order allowing him to seize a "mystery object".

It is not known what or where the object is.
Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "The prosecution has asked the judge for an emergency order to give them permission to go and seize it."
The Portuguese judge is also sifting through a 1,000-page dossier as Madeleine's parents face an agonising wait to learn if they will be charged over her disappearance.
He has 10 days to consider its contents.

The lady who lives in the apartment over the McCanns' apartment in Portugal...she reported hearing Madeleine screaming for her father for 90 minutes the night before she went missing.

Did Mrs Fenn say whether the parents, Kate and Gerry, were in the apartment with Maddie and the other children during that 90 minutes?

Or were they out drinking and dining that night, too?

Daddy may have gone ahead to meet their friends while Kate stayed back to put the kids to bed. When Maddie didn't want them to go or to be left alone, and she began "protesting", Kate may have shook her, slapped her, yelled at her.... which in turn made Maddie cry out for Daddy.

Kate may have felt her kids were jeopardizing and putting a damper on her fun, spending time with the other adults. So, the next night, to keep from going through another one of Maddie's "tantrums" (and making a scene in front of Mrs Fenn), and having to wait until Maddie fell asleep, she gave her something to sleep.

She may have given Maddie something to sleep the previous night, too... and it may have had a reverse effect (from being wound up, emotional, fearful, etc). Not taking any effect at all. So, did Kate doubled the dose (over dose)the next night?

During the time-line, one of the other adults from the party made "rounds" to check on all the kids. Maddie may have already been dead at that point and just appeared to be asleep, under the covers.

I doubt when he "checked" on the kids, he made sure they were all sleeping. He just checked to make sure they were all asleep and safe in bed.

Too bad the other children, esp the twins, weren't checked for drugs in their systems.

Nancy Grace reported tonight that clumps of Maddie's hair were found in the car. Hair can begin to fall out in clumps, after death, if the body is manuvered and abruptly moved around.

Don't judge McCanns: Lindy Chamberlain

<<Ms Chamberlain said the McCann case reminded her of her ordeal in the media and courts during the 1980s, after her daughter Azaria was taken by a dingo. Azaria's body was never found. Ms Chamberlain was convicted of her murder in 1982, but was exonerated six years later.>>

This isn't exactly funny in a ha-ha way, but still...

The Three Arguidos

This is one part of the case that has always bothered me. I truly don't want to sound sexist but, for the life of me, I cannot imagine a child yelling for dad instead of mom.

There are families where Dad is more hands on, softer touch and Mom is more like a Dad.

This is one part of the case that has always bothered me. I truly don't want to sound sexist but, for the life of me, I cannot imagine a child yelling for dad instead of mom. I have raised four children and ALL of them called for me when they awoke or something was wrong. And yes, my husband is VERY involved in their lives. Does anyone else think it is strange that a baby would call for daddy instead of mommy? I've always thought that Kate seems controlled by her husband but this makes me wonder what was really going on in that family.

You're not alone... it's bugged me too. But exactly because of some points made by others in response to what you said, I've never said anything. Not that I'm worried people will disagree with me lol, but because it can be explained away by both the defense and the prosecution (using those terms freely), and it can be turned either which way you want it to work for you. But.... personally.... yes it did bother me.

Police Bid To Seize Kate McCann's Diary

Updated: 14:23, Wednesday September 12, 2007
<H2>Prosecutors in the Madeleine McCann investigation have made an emergency application to seize her mother's private diary, say Sky News sources. The judge in the case, Pedro Miguel dos Anjos Frias, has less than 24 hours to decide whether to grant the order.
Police sources believe Kate McCann's diary may hold clues to her daughter's disappearance.
The McCanns' spokesman David Hughes refused to comment on the development as he left the family house in Rothley, Leicestershire.
He faced the media circus waiting outside the couple's £600,000 four-bedroom home shortly after the family returned from a trip to a nearby park
When asked how the McCanns were, he replied: "They had a nice day out for a while. They seem fine."
He confirmed that the couple would return to Portugal if called in by police.
Earlier, it was reported the police wanted to confiscate Madeleine's toys, including her favourite Cuddle Cat.
Mr McCann's sister, Philomena McCann, said the possibility that police might seize the toy was a "disgrace".
"It would be extremely distressing for Kate because she has seen it as a symbol of her daughter since she went missing," she added.
She went on: "Why on earth do they ask for the toys now? Why didn't they think of this before?"
The judge is also sifting through a 4,000-page police dossier as Madeleine's parents face an agonising wait to learn if they will be charged over her disappearance.
He has 10 days to consider the contents - said to be stored in 10 lever arch files.
But a friend of the McCanns, who was quoting legal sources, believes it could take the judge weeks to go through the papers.
"Our understanding is there's no filtering process whatsoever - everything is in there," he said. "The judge has had the kitchen sink thrown at him."
It is not known if prosecutor Jose Cunha de Magalhaes e Meneses is recommending charging Kate and Gerry McCann over their daughter's disappearance.
Lawyers in Portugal say it is more likely he wants to carry out fresh searches, conduct more interviews, or impose stricter bail conditions.
Officers are planning new searches in Praia da Luz, where Madeleine went missing, including digging around the village church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, according to Portuguese newspapers.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa refused to confirm or deny the reports.
It is known Kate and Gerry McCann, both 39-year-old doctors, were given a key to the church so they could go and pray for their daughter any time they wanted.
There is no sign yet of any searches being carried out at the church, which still has yellow and green Madeleine ribbons on the pews and altar.
Sky News Online's Kate Sullivan, who flew back from Portugal with the McCanns, said: "It's a small, well-tended church just up from the beach.
"But around the back there's a fenced-off building site area. The ground's been dug up and workmen are laying foundations."
Mr and Mrs McCann were declared "arguidos", or formal suspects, in the case during police questioning in Portimao last Friday.
They flew out of the country to their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, two days later.

Why,why, why would they tell what they are after???If there is anything to the diary it would be in the trash by now.

That is my first though also.

But, what are the chances she would put something in writing when they were scrutinized so much?? And if she did, it would have been destroyed as soon as they knew without a doubt they were looked at as suspect.

Very true glezall.

On further thought, I don't think it will give them evidence information (maybe timeline??), but maybe psychological information. Ok, so they were told to look stoic on tv, maybe they don't grieve openly, but in a private journal there should be some evidence of her grieving or lack there of. Maybe they are looking for lack of remorse.

I lost 3 children due to premature birth and I can tell you it takes months where you can even breath without your heartbreaking. It takes a while before your thoughts are not so consumed with them that you can think about something else and that would be evident in a journal. Of course she states she thinks Maddy is still alive, and that maybe almost worse to think about. I would be crippled by the thought of who my child might be with and what my child might be enduring. So to see where she is mentally, yes, the journal would be huge. If she is talking about how far she ran, who she met, etc in a private journal, that would be very telling.

But still VERY stupid to tell her in advance!!

I agree. And I think we have back-up. Mrs. Fenn has reported that Kate seemed "aggressive" towards Madeleine.

Calikid...you reported awhile back that there where reports of Maddie possibly being autistic or asperger's...with a touch of CHARGE syndrome. I have asked you several times what reference supports your statement, but you never answer. Do you have a source for your statement or is it something you embellished?

Many of Maddie's photos look expressionless to me. Exactly like my autistic son did at that age...but besides your comment, I have not read or heard that from any other source. (And believe me I've searched)
At Maddie's age, my son hardly slept, had temper tantrums, had poor speech and a host of other problems. Though at that age we rarely took him out, to the general public he as just another hyperactive spoiled child, (except for a few select Wal-mart shoppers who had the privilege to witness a true meltdown.)...but the problems we faced at home, where much greater. Being in on the "Autism Circuit" I hear about this sort of thing often...autism HAS been a motive to kill, and it's usually premeditated and often coupled with suicide.

http://www.anorak.co.uk/madeleine-mccann/176345.html report says that:
A source within Portugal’s National Institute of Legal Medicine says, “In normal circumstances Madeleine would have half the DNA of each parent…But we have to take into account that Madeleine was created by artificial insemination. Was it with Gerry’s sperm or that of another man?”

This is the first time I have read that this is a possibility. Does anyone have reliable information about this? If so, please link your source.
If this is true then maybe the donor or someone associated with him (aka his wife) kidnapped Maddie.
If this IS true that she is a product of artificial insemination, and I doubt it is, why wouldn't the PV have been sniffing out this theory?

If there was a spider in the room it was always daddy....
