She's an adorable little girl and does bear a resemblance to Madeleine.

I'm glad it turned out to be a real child and not some photoshopped hoax. The McCanns jumping on this made me really suspicious, especially with the video they released at 100 days where they said they don't let themselves get their hopes up.

Kate McCann: To be honest, we don’t go through that emotional rollercoaster in regards to the sightings. Emmm. You know the only thing we’ll be happy for is when we know it’s definitely Madeleine, but we don’t go through the ups and downs of that.

They didn't believe the sightings in Malta, nor the "100% positive" account of the woman in Belgium. So why did they believe this? Spin maybe?

I think they may of had the "Investigative Firm" check on these sightings and were told they were unfounded which is why they were non emotional about them - JMO

Personally, I do not think Maddie has a "special" look that will make her stand out from a crowd. There are literally thousands of little girls that look like her hence we hear of so many sightings around the world.

Everything I've read said they were "guarded" about this sighting. I was even impressed that they didn't jump all over it. Where are you finding that they believed this one?

"Very keen", to me, reads as "excited", I have not seen any of the other reported sightings have quite this interest level reported. But, that is exactly what Clarence was hired to do!

Yes, but in the interview they were specifically asked to recount how they felt about the sightings.

Amanda Walker, interviewer: Take us through the emotional experience you go through from the moment someone says, “I’m definite that I’ve seen Madeleine", until when it’s discounted.

And they replied that they don't let themselves get emotionally involved.

How the heck would parents of a missing child not get emotionally involved, at least inside, over someone seeing her? Thrill about the sighting, hope that it's her, anxiety it isn't. There is no way humanly possible.

Don't forget that they are doctors, and are well practiced in having to dissociate their emotions from their jobs.

This of course could be used in arguments on both sides (they could have killed her and kept it together, or they are able to keep it together even though someone stole their baby).

Plus, we don't know exactly how many sightings they've had to deal with. They might have gotten excited over the first 6 or 7, but when nothing pans out, you will stop getting excited until you have something more concrete.

It's kinda like the boy who cried wolf.

She is a cutie! Her hair looked lighter in the photo, too.

It's the hair that is going to make for so many presumed sightings of Madeleine. Both my daughters wore their hair that way (chin-shoulder length bob, bangs) when they were around that age--3-5 years old. About 3/4 of their classmates and friends had the same hair cut.

I've got a "first day of preschool" photo sitting on my desk right now that looks like Madeleine's sister or even Madeleine herself--same hair color, same eye color, same face shape, eyebrows, and similar expression.

I believe I had heard this was not the first time they left the children alone, if so ,how many times, where else had they gone, was it closer or even farther away. Did they check on them on those other times also? or did they go to the same resturant

They won't say. That's "part of the investigation" so they won't talk about that.

There was a British expatriate widow who said she heard a child crying for a considerable amount of time the night before, until the McCanns returned, but then she reportedly took her story back...or maybe not.

But if you believe this was a well-planned and executed abduction, then it only makes sense that the McCanns had established a pattern of behavior that allowed someone to think an abduction and escape were feasible.
