Forensic DNA tests 'reveal traces of Madeleine's body on resort beach'

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/world/story/0,,2185418,00.html

Krugel, of the University of Bloemfontein, claims that his technique is able to locate a missing person anywhere in the world using only a single strand of hair. He became famous in South Africa after helping a television crew locate the whereabouts of five South African girls who went missing during the Eighties. Last July the retired detective spent four days in Praia da Luz following a request for assistance from Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann.
'He clearly identified an area of the beach where Madeleine may have passed through or was buried,' a close friend of the McCanns said yesterday.

Because a "close friend of the McCann's" is quoted, I take this with a grain of salt and think it is another red herring. Plus, Madeleine had been on that beach, and the parents could have directed searchers to a place where she had played in the sand. That doesn't prove much.

Also, the article stresses that people still need to search for a living child, so I think it is more misdirection and contradicts the other story tonight about the DNA on the couch.

Most of all, I think the parents want Madeleine's death to be as far away from that apartment as possible.

Barnaby: Sorry, but your link doesn't work, nor can I cut and paste it. I tried to make it click but something is missing in it. Could you redo it

No it's not working need to try another way, can't understand it workson the other site. I will try to find a way!

Ok time enough to edit the post, sorry this is the only way I can do it.

Go to www.gettyimages.com

Hope this works!

I have a question, did anyone here not believe the story about gerry getting mugged & losing his wallet on trip back to UK? I thought that was strange & we never did hear how the photographs of Madeleine found their way back to him or did anyone hear that?

It was very unusual. Gerry McCann's family were the ones making a big stink about the pictures, but GM didn't even mention them. So I think it was made up.

Day 47 - 06/19/2007
Flew in to London to for a series of meetings. Helped a passenger on the flight who collapsed. He was ill enough to require a full assessment on arrival and went off to hospital in an ambulance.

Unfortunately shortly after arriving in London I had my wallet stolen which meant I was running late. I did manage to get to all my meetings which ran late into the evening. We had very good discussions regarding sustaining the search for Madeleine long term. The role for Kate and I in the campaign will not be nearly be so public. We have to balance any campaigning in the search for Madeleine with protecting Sean and Amelie and making sure their privacy is protected.

We are exploring the use of new media and using local advertising, particularly in Europe. There will of course be event driven media exposure such as the balloon launch on Friday 22nd. There are several other very good ideas being developed and a few large companies are willing to help us.

He did get his wallet back with the following explanation:

Day 57 - 06/29/2007
Early rise this morning dropping off and picking up good friends from the airport. One of our friends from Amsterdam, who has been actively campaigning to publicise Madeleines disappearance, dropped in to see us for a couple of hours since he is on a golfing trip in the Algarve.

Our friends brought back my wallet which had been returned, needless to say minus the Sterling, although all my cards and €30 were still in it! It is good to have my driving license back and one or two other important things.

I think Carlos do Carmo would be a better choice. Someone without prejudice and is looking at the case with a fresh set of eyes and can't be accused of having a personal agenda.

Hiya Gord!!

I can relate about the sports....tonight the Colorado Rockies play game 3 and may sweep in the Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies....GO ROCKS!! Tomorrow, we (my 10 YO son and I) will walk in the Denver Race for the Cure and then the Broncos play and maybe (hope not) the Rockies again and then the Avalanche play the San Jose Sharks (hockey) and somewhere in all of that NASCAR is racing at Talladega. OMG, it's awesome!!!! Don't expect to see me much tomorrow....

I agree, DNA should be back by now....IF IT WAS SIMPLE. They can run more than one test per sample and DNA testing could take much longer than "normal". It all depends. So, maybe the PJ have it back and are working hard, under difficult circumstances (a little short on manpower) to get all their ducks in a row OR maybe the samples are still in Birmingham (some or all). It is hard to say....but I have the patience of a saint (as I am sure you all know  )

I am getting ready to sign off to watch baseball!!! Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!!!

Well, you got your wish- the Rockies swept the series and will face Arizona for the pennant. That ought to be an interesting match-up.

Now as far as the Broncos-Charges game tomorrow, :croc: to your team.

GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!! Of course, we're having a terrible year but I hope we win anyway.

Totally weird, no explanation of how/where the wallet was found & returned to "our friends"

I have seen it suggested on another forum that the original wallet was ditched because of possible DNA traces & that perhaps the wallet had been originally purchased in Amsterdam when he was there working & that the friends may have brought a new wallet similar which would have been passed off as the original wallet returned!
We need more information on who found this "lost" /"stolen" wallet and how it was returned to the hands of friends!
I presume that one of the "one or two other important thing" was the photograph of Madeleine, why didn't he say & the precious photograph of my darling missing daughter Madeleine?

It looks to me like that might be some sort of plastic stroller cover to keep out the sun or rain, instead of a blanket. I've seen those on expensive strollers before. The twins may be in there, but asleep? I'm not sure.

But you are right that no legs are showing. Could they be going to the Creche to pick up the twins?

The explanation I read was that a mysterious someone found it in an alley, checked Gerry's ID and mailed the wallet back to him to his home in Leic. There may be some mention of it in the news accounts in our news links thread from the 10 days it was missing.

He may have ditched it, but why mention it? It would be far simpler to just get a new wallet and say nothing.

Got it! :)

After looking at this photo you can see no outline of legs on the stroller and look at the bulge underneath, there is something of weight there, it looks quite odd to me, does anyone else think so.

Here's another view of the same stroller on a different day. You can see the feet of the twins, and the bulge underneath looks smaller, but not that different.

I think there is definitely a difference between the two photos, Im very suspicious about what may have been in the first photo of the pram.

Yes there is a plastic cover for rain/sun but I was referring to the red blanket.

It definitely is possible that they are going to pick up the twins I suppose I didnt think of that because the caption says "Gerry and Kate McCann walk back to their resort hotel with their baby twins on May 7, 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal"

Well he was never one to say no to an extra bit of sympathy!

Yes the "distressed" father made no reference to getting the stolen pics of his precious "stolen" daughter, most peculiar!

The Broncos are no dream team either :(

We shall see....

Heather, remember we speculated that Gerry and Justine had some kind of disagreement shortly around the 100 day mark of Madeleine's disappearance when someone named David Hughes was supposed to take over.

For 89 days work, Justine McGuiness charged $104,000. That's a lot of money for less than three months of employment.
