George & Cindy's Response to "NO DEATH PENALTY" Decision

I'm still with you on this one! :)

When I first came here and SS was saying that I was confused...lol...now I realize that she was just way ahead of me and my slow thinking....guess I should have just listened and saved a few er...hours.

I'm sure there have been many other murder cases in Florida where the prosecution did not seek the death penalty.

I do not know the criteria they use in making the decision whether to seek it or not. It would be a good topic for Nancy Grace's show. How exactly do they arrive at these decisions? What factors are considered?

I know this is a tough one because of no body. Is that always the determinant? Has any prosecutor ever sought the death penalty when there was no body found?

I don't know what the criteria is in Florida. Whatever it is, Casey was eligible. I think the decision not to seek the death penalty had to do with seeking best chance of a conviction. Securing a death penalty conviction against a woman is an uphill battle. Not having a body makes it harder. Then there is accidental vs premeditation.

It can't come soon enough for me for her to be put in the general population. She doesn't deserve to be where she is right now. Her hard knock life should have started the day they first took her into jail and this special treatment should never have been allowed. She is accused of Murder One of her child and is being treated like she is a celebrity.

I'm with you on this.

However, as much as I would like for someone to bit*h slap her, I really would hate for KC or the A's to benefit from a lawsuit. Lawsuit after a pizzed off inmate shoved her head into the steel toilet until she told where Caylee was. :furious:

We have to remember, it's not only to protect KC. It protects the county.

We have been saying this ever since the video surfaced from the Nursing Home visit on Father's Day.

I saw a very sad, but beautiful obituary in our local paper (Ohio) today for a little 3 yr.old girl. She was even born in Orlando. It was a very touching written memorial. It made me think that little Caylee won't even have this, let alone a funeral and final resting place.

The ant family had said a week ago about the 'stolen car', little girl at mall and their private eye would have it all soon..........dah, have we heard a thing since??? Just a spin as usual. The thing that bothers me, is that they KNOW so much to help and are not helping at all!=they are involved with secrets on something ...............

After seeing the vids of Adverb Creature in jail, I don't think she likes it very much. That being the case, bring on life behind bars for her if she convicted. The Ants are hopeless. They'll kill themselves with unreality and empty dreams, but there doesn't seem to be anything anyone can tell them, or show them, that will convince them otherwise, and no one close to them seems willing or able to convince them to get the serious help they need to get them through this. Pity. It's very sad. As for The Creature, let her spend the next 20-70 years contemplating her sports bra.

I think Cindy is guilty of enabling her daughter's irresponsible ways... more than likely done out of a blind maternal love... the kind of blind love that creates the real spoiled brats of the world. We already know that Cindy's love for Casey and her inability/refusal to wrangle Casey in, caused issues in C & G's marriage in the past... and Cindy is still doing it by refusing to accept that Casey is in loads of trouble by her own doings... by coming up with questionable conclusions like she did with the death penalty being taken off of the table. Casey can do very little wrong in Cindy's eyes, right now... and Cindy is hell-bent on protecting her angel... at the cost of justice for poor little Caylee. :(

I have repeated that sentence a few times since this began with good reason. ;)

The credibility issues with the A fam were clear to me early on in this case. Now, we know they would say or do anything to help Casey. We have to rely on tangible evidence instead of their word. No one has come forward (with verifiable evidence to back it up) to say they saw Caylee with anyone else since the video was made and that Cindy lied about.

And once she is convicted, she will be placed in the general population. It will be interesting to see how long she survives.

I disagree, nickismom. Once Casey is convicted, the State of Florida will be completely responsible for her health and safety.

That means the State MUST protect her from other prisoners who would be hell bent to do her harm.

Just like with Charles Manson, Sirhan Sirhan, and even Scott Peterson, Casey will be placed in some type of protective housing with prisoners who are screened to likely NOT do her damage.

Unfortunately, in our prison systems it's the worst of the worst who are often the inmates with the most protection and the best special attention. Not terribly fair, is it?

I think their family is very relieved today that they don't have to worry about KC being put to death, and given time, maybe they will come to the realization that Caylee is never coming home. JMHO

They won't put her in GP for many years. It wouldn't be safe at this point. Someone would kill her.

How sad.

An appropriate response would be, "We're grateful and relieved our daughter's life will be spared."

I really wonder whether Cindy has lost touch with reality. It seems as though self-protection has kicked in, and her mind is genuinely believing this. It has a different tone than the mis-truths we've heard.

It appears as though George seems to just go along because...well, that's what George does.

Given the computer searches in March ,coupled with Amy's statements that KC claimed she was getting the house, Cindy and George should be grateful LE has taken KC off the streets.I think KC was trying to get rid of them.Once she had murder in mind it was an easy leap to get rid of Caylee. They need to wake up and realize it was probably their own lives that were spared.

Except a life of solitude is not nearly as pleasing as one might think. Look what's happened to Charles Manson. He may have been evil when he went in, but he most assuredly was not batsh!t crazy. Solitary's done that.

Without an adoring and doting audience to preen for and order about, Casey will wither.

Far more painful for her than a lethal injection. Far more just of an outcome.

ITA, Heck, CA and GA haven't once bothered to mention the fight on June15th, among other events. It certainly wouldn't be a stretch to wonder what they would be willing to do to sweep this whole thing under the rug.

And??? Is there a point to that observation? Is there anyone who can seriously opine that Cindy was the independent cause of Caylee's disappearance? AND that a selfless KC is taking a fall for her Mommy??? Puleeeze!

Combination of things going with the Ants, imo.

(1)They blame themselves for whatever happened after the big blowup, after using 'tough love.' The Creature had stolen and lied. They'd had enough (JUSTIFIABLY.) They were finally ready to act, but when they did....whatever happened, happened. Now Caylee's gone and KC's in jail, most probably guilty of murdering Caylee. The voices in their heads keep saying (among other things) that if only they hadn't brought things to a head, everything would be ok. This would be tough for any of us, but they won't face up. Facing up is important because once they do, they can move beyond guilt to deeper understanding. It's unacceptable to let one's child go on thieving and lying forever, especially when a child is involved. KC's irresponsibility was bad for both herself and Caylee. The Ants were right to try to stop her and set her on a better path. They didn't kill Caylee. KC did whatever she did, not because she was held accountable but because she couldn't an accident responsibly or because she's capable of murder. If the Ants can accept that, they can see they tried to do the right thing and take some comfort from knowing that it's good to try to do the right thing.

(2) If they know what happened, because somehow they've accepted it, or KC has told them, or (God forbid) they played some part in a cover up, then they may think or may know they raised a murderer, and feel guilt and shame for that. Maybe, they don't want anyone to know and they want to do whatever they can do for KC because she's all they have left. Yet, if they could face what they think or know, they could put a higher good above their own interests and guilt (Caylee specifically, society in general.) Look at the Unibomber's family. They read a manifesto, thought it sounded like Ted and started talking to the FBI. The FBI caught him and lives and limbs have almost certainly been saved. They probably feel rotten that one of their did these awful things, but the can at least have some peace knowing they stopped him from doing more harm and allowed justice to be served for his victims. If the Ants could truly put Caylee above KC, I think they'd understand that they need to face the truth and move forward FOR CAYLEE, to memorialize her, to bring her justice. Then they'd have the peace of closure knowing they did they best for Caylee. However, they just don't seem to be able to muster the courage.

(3) Imo, the Ants have been playing games from Day 31, trying to get the truth out of the Creature From Adverb Lagoon. Prior to that, there are indications that the Ants were not at all happy with KC and her choices and not shy about telling her so. We have Jesse telling the police that Cindy often insulted KC in his presence. Amy said the same thing. When she was in the car with Cindy, Cindy was disparaging KC almost the whole time. Ryan said Cindy called him to tell him that KC was a sociopath and other bad things. When Cindy got to TonE's, she told him KC would steal him blind. Cindy's mom is writing her relatives talking about KC's various irresponsibilities and crimes, almost certainly because Cindy had been telling her mom, and because they'd all been victims. KC told Lee she needed alchohol to put up with her dad at a family celebration. Then, there was the big blow-up fight. It wasn't all gooey sweet at the Ants. KC had thrown her parents under the bus all over town. Cindy was apparently capable of coming down on Casey like a ton of bricks, but to look at the nicey, nicey interaction with KC holding court in the jail visits, one would think that there had been an outer-space invasion, and that these people had been body-snatched. They are either trying to present a false face to the media, police and public or the Ants think if they can convince KC they love and support her, no matter what, she'll tell them where Caylee is. They want to think she's alive early on, so they do. Maybe some psych told the Ants that they had to handle KC without confrontation because of her personality disorder. Who knows? Whatever, doesn't seem to have worked. It's horrid what KC has done, and is still doing, to her parents.

(4) The Ants seem to have gone downhill drastically in the past couple of weeks. Their appearance deteriorated and they went silent. Maybe they know something that we don't know yet. Perhaps dropping the DP is part of it. Perhaps Jose is in negotiations. Perhaps the Ants know that. Perhaps they know why.

A very thoughtful and insightful post, Y. I agree completely.

Just for a minute, people should try to imagine being the parent of a distorted child such as KC. What an unimaginable nightmare.
