Where are you getting that GZ was just itching to kill someone and was so bloodthirsty that he decided he's gonna find some kid tonight to go shoot?
Answer:
Zimmerman's description of TM during the 911 call was an almost line by line textbook recitation of an escalating threat and justification for the use of lethal force. He went right down the list, stating that there was "something wrong with him" and that the victim was "definately on drugs or something." He then described TM as having observed him, and that TM was circling him and checking him out. GZ then told dispatch that TM was reaching into his waistband for something, and then that he had pulled some unknown object from his waistband and was holding it in his hands and oh my goodness please send someone quickly...
In my opinion GZ wanted it on TAPE that he though TM was armed and dangerous. Note, after saying all this about the menacing guy with the unknown object in his hands, Zimmerman didn't step on the gas and drive away...
GZ opened the door of his car and got out to do whatever it was that he had planned. But Martin RAN away -- screwing up Zimmerman's "self-defense" checklist. I believe Martin was supposed to die right there in the street. That's what Zimmerman had planned. That's why Zimmerman was angry. Martin got away.
Note that little of what GZ described on the 911 call really happened in the way GZ described it. Even by the time of the walkthrough the detectives knew the 911 story was questionable, and when questioned on it Zimmerman had no answers. Today we have an even better idea what Martin was doing because we have a witness. We know he wasn't an armed and menacing

, he was a kid with skittles talking to his girlfriend on the phone and trying to get away from the weird dude in the pickup following him around.
In my opinion Zimmerman wanted to shoot someone that night. He was thinking about this long before he ever called 911. The prosecution knows it. The police know it. Sadly, the most they will be able to PROVE is murder two.
