"Whether you’re going to heaven or hell, the old joke goes, you’ll have to change planes in Atlanta.

But Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is proposing to offer a new nonstop service to the Great Beyond: He has a bold plan to turn his state into the place to die........................."

Well that raises the bar for scathing!

Paraphrased:
“Coronavirus will be the biggest thing to burn through Georgia since General Sherman. The Peach Tree State will become the petri state.”

He might have authority to open everything, but he doesn’t have the authority to make people show up. We’ll be staying home ‘till those numbers are well into the downside of the curve.

Governor Kemp is the emperor who has no clothes.

This self-absorbed megalomaniac seems to really believe every illogical thing he says. He imagines it true.

He is like an arrogant dictator with his finger on the trigger of a nuclear bomb. He can press if he wants to. He has decided he is going to do it just because he can. The fact that much wiser people are warning him not to do it just increases his thrill.

There has to be away to stop a dangerous politician from acting on a decision that will inevitably cause more sickness and death. The people who go out and mingle, with his encouragement, will be putting vulnerable people in Georgia at higher risk by contracting and spreading the virus everywhere else the go.

In my opinion, this is voluntary manslaughter on the part of Kemp.

MOO

@TGIRecovered totally agree with your comments. I fear for my Georgia family and friends.

With reopenings in U.S. South, some merchants lay out welcome mat, others fearful

A hairstylist plans to reopen tomorrow. She & her husband are booked solid through the weekend. They will wear masks- but not require customers to do so because they have “good ventilation”. From the link:

“Georgia has fewer coronavirus cases and deaths per capita than the national average, but one of the lowest rates of testing. Even so, cases have been on the rise, with 1,242 new infections detected over the prior 24 hours, the highest single-day tally in two weeks.

Bullman is unruffled and said while she will wear a mask, she will not require her customers to do so. She said her salon is housed in a 4,000-square-foot building with tall ceilings and plenty of ventilation, and can easily space customers out.

“I just don’t think our environment is high risk,” she said, of both her salon and community.”

So the first thing people think about is getting their hair done? Wow. It’s not like we have been in hibernation for six months.

GA Dept Public Health Report
Wednesday April 22

21,102 Cases (100%)
4018 Hospitalizations (19.04%)
846 Deaths (4.01%)

Number of confirmed cases growing.
Percentage of hospitalizations UP. Percentage of deaths UP.
As reported by MSM, GA has one of the lowest testing rates in the nation. Very concerned.
Georgia Department of Public Health COVID-19 Daily Status Report

ETA: The total # of cases is almost EXACTLY DOUBLE what it was one week ago. So concerned for Georgia!

I am concerned about family in GA.
I’m hearing some of this from elderly relatives and they are now afraid of the food supply. Just more things to make me worry.

Drove to pick up “no contact” pizza tonight & was disheartened to see SO MANY PEOPLE out. No masks. No social distancing. Yip-yapping on sidewalks everywhere. I think we won’t see the impact of prematurely lifting sheltering until 4-6 weeks from now. And then, I predict it will be bad. For the next 2-3 weeks, people will get infected. Symptoms will show up 2-14 days after that. Then 7-14 days later, test results will confirm C-19. We plan to keep working from home & doing grocery pick-up. Jmo.

@JudgeJoe disheartening. I made a very quick necessary trip to your neck of the woods. I only stopped for gas at Parker’s. Looked like they were giving away something for free - just as you described...no masks, no social distancing, etc.

Opening some businesses back up is for the workers and owners who were forced to shut down. These people are small operators and need to start making money again. No one has to go to them, but it should be an option.

It's time to move on. We have immune systems that can adapt if given the opportunity. This isn't Bubonic plague and rarely causes death. Anyone who wants to stay sheltered should, but most don't want to be under house arrest forever. It has to be a choice for each adult.
