German satellite expected to hit Earth on weekend

It appears to be heading towards me.

:waitasec:

What could I do with a piece of it?

Make some yard art?
Sell it on the net?

Do I have to fight with the Russians to keep it?

What would you do with it?

It seems to be descending at a extremely slow pace.

It's still at an altitude of around 140 km

Altitude of Reentry
Spacecraft reentering the atmosphere without control usually break between 72 and 84 km altitude due to temperature and aerodynamic forces acting on the structure.
The nominal breakup altitude is 78 km, but big satellites that have larger and denser structures survive longer and break down at lower altitudes. Usually, solar panels are destroyed before any component, at altitudes between 90 and 95 km.
