The Bergwacht Lenggriess has posted pictures of the search on their FB page.

If they are on the actual Traumpfad here, count me out. I'd take the low road anytime.

Bergwacht Lenggries
Second, if het lost his cap, it is hard to see how he would have lost it on this trail for someone else to find.
Why do you find it hard to imagine? Maybe he clipped it on his pants or bag and it came loose and he didn't notice.
The weather was sunny all over, he should have been wearing that cap to protect his brain. As an experienced hiker, he knew that. If not, chances of a heatstroke are UP.
Didn't he have two caps with him? I thought I read that ...
That's right Elainera, one was black - the other white. Same writing on each of them IIRC.
ETA: They are both in pics on his IG Jeffrey David (@freiheit3434) • Instagram photos and videos
They say "Ernie Freiheit Construction Dauphin, Man"
What is your point?
Thanks for clarifying ZaZara. Gotta love Hanlon's Razor.
IF Jeff lost one hat, may time tell but noting there shouldn't be anyone else in all of Europe with either of those caps.
Just trying to help. lol.
Let's be excellent to each other eh!
:MOO:
The point I was trying to make (not very clearly though) was that he could have worn one and lost one since he had two caps. Sorry for the confusion.
Von Lenggries zur Benediktenwand
Shortly after the summit of the Latschenkopf the path to the Benediktenwand splits. Since the variant over the back of the Achselköpfe requires absolute surefootedness and freedom from vertigo, we choose the simpler route. We therefore follow the sign "Benediktenwand-Tutzinger Hütte-Längental-Arzbach" to the lower right.
From here the path is marked with a red dot and leads us underneath the steeply towering rock faces of the Achselköpfe.
On this way there are two possibilities to descend to the right down to the Probst-Alm, Längental-Alm and Arzbach - but we stay on the path towards "Benewand". Shortly before the Rotohrsattel the two variants meet again.
From the Sattel we continue on the Benediktenwand circular trail Ostaufstieg towards the summit. This path is now secured in places with wire ropes and requires our full concentration once again.
If this climb seems too dangerous, you have the possibility to hike over the Tutzinger Hütte to the summit.
Would William of Ockham say he has fallen???
Probably, since we're in the mountains....
I guess that is a reluctant yes, and I don't like it. They did a very thorough search of the riskiest part of the trail, and he wasn't found.
Would Ockham say he wasn't found because he wasn't there? and in a different location when he fell?
I have followed cases here where "thorough" searches were done and later the person was found just there where they had searched. So idk. This is very very difficult terrain to search, I don't know how thorough it can be searched without putting searchers in danger.
OTOH Germans are really thorough in everything they do, if they say they searched thoroughly I tend to believe them.
In the absence of answers, the Freiheit family is holding onto hope that their brother and son, 32-year-old Jeffrey Freiheit is alive, and could possibly be lost in the Alps, and be found soon.
“We won’t give up. And we’re doing whatever it takes. Today, my mom hired a private helicopter,” said Amanda Devigne, Freiheit’s younger sister.
On Friday, Devigne and her father visited the offices of Winnipeg MPs Jim Carr and MaryAnn Mihychuk and also sent a letter to the Prime Minister’s office asking for the Canadian Armed Forces to be involved with the search to bring Freiheit home. Devigne said office staff at both MPs’ offices told them the information has reached Ottawa and the Prime Minister’s office.
