I hope and pray we don’t end up with a situation like Corrie McKeague where we don’t know what happened to Liam after a significant amount of time has passed.

Or footage could show someone following him?

That should be seen with the outside footage though.

The manager not remembering the password to the computer running the CCTV system is not the most absurd thing I've heard. It may have been set up years ago and never needed to be accessed; if you don't log in at least once in a while, you're going to forget the password. Some people write down their passwords on paper, but that is not a good idea. The best thing to do is have a password vault.

Do men routinely get their drinks spiked? I can see it happening in a gay bar maybe, but in a normal bar men drug women, surely?

They may if a woman wants to rob them.

Or like Brian Shaffer. :(

I share the same concern many of you have posted about the water near by. We see thread after thread on this forum of young men ending up in the water. It's a bizarre phenomenon. Let's hope against odds, that this story ends differently.

At the risk of backlash, I have to say I also find it sad that this group found it necessary to go to a red light district to "celebrate" the end of bachelorhood. These districts are full of trafficked women, disease, and crime.
In retrospect, I'm sure a round of golf and a few drinks after would have been a better choice.

If Liam has been off on a bender of some sort he should be surfacing about now. Let's hope that's the case.

There is no evidence of Liam’s bank or credit cards being used so far is there? I wonder how many Euros he had on him that night.

I wondered the same. My first thought that he was easy prey being drunk, and got rolled. I read upthread that the hospitals have been checked; if not in the river, that's where I think he'd be found.

If he was in a hospital he'd been found by now. They have all been notified I would think. Unless he was beaten up so bad he's unrecognizable and unconscious and nobody is making the connection. Possible, but unlikely I think.

Hamburg seems to be a very popular stag destination. I‘d think most stag doers enjoy the beer and maybe a lap dance and don‘t use prostitutes. Reeperbahn is in a way a melting pot of all kinds of people. Some come to follow the tracks of The Beatles who played in Reeperbahn clubs in the early 1960s. Many Scandinavians visit Hamburg because alcohol is much cheaper here. Then you have party folks visiting the dance clubs or older people in beer pubs. There are also musical locations, cabarets, travesty shows, supermarkets, museums, restaurants, gay bars, etc. Yes, there are prostitutes, drug dealers and turf wars but it isn‘t an unusual location for bachelor parties. Just sayin‘ they didn‘t make a bad decision per se - it‘s maybe one out of 1000 bachelor parties at Reeperbahn that went wrong.

If true, what would make him “lost, lonely, and confused?”
What type of drug could have this lingering effect?
It’s certainly not a new trick for a man to get slipped a drug and get rolled.
Let’s hope these Liam siters are earnest.
Prayers to Liam’s family for swift resolution.
I’d get as many people together as possible and canvas the streets with flyers.

A random thought. Any chance Liam is distressed about his brother getting married? People tend to unravel around weddings it seems.

Ruhypnol, the date rape drug. As I stated above, I was targeted at an intimate concert venue. Confusion, agitation, in and out of dream\sleep like state, inability to speak or find tongue for days. Hugging the walls iow. I made it home, safely but barely. Imhave no memory of the drive home or the first day after I was home.
I sure hope he is alive. Godspeed Liam!!

If he was targeted for robbery his credit or debit card would have been heavily used as soon as taken to maximise the return before it was cancelled.

I‘d take that article with a grain of salt. While they believe to have seen Liam, they say they saw a confused man speaking English. Liam‘s brother gave an interview and mentioned he spoke to the witnesses and that they saw him with clothing different from what Liam was wearing and a backpack (Liam didn‘t have one). Not saying these witnesses are making this up, maybe there was a transient person walking the streets of Buxtehude who looked like Liam?

This is terrifying. So glad you escaped unharmed. Did you know who did it?

Eamonn said: ‘Earlier in the night he was fine. Like everyone else, he was having a great time, there were photos, one bar was giving us hats.

‘Liam was the one taking the lead, being the best man. He’d not been there before but he did all of the organising.’
The group had dinner at 6pm, in Groninger Privatbrauerei, a traditional German beer hall and restaurant. Between 7pm and 7.30pm, they took the subway to Reeperbahn station. After a short walk to St Pauli, they arrived at Kuhstall, a cocktail bar.
A few drinks later, some of the group headed back to their hostel, the A&O City Hostel Hamburg, whilst others headed to the Knallerman bar.
After a stroll through the infamous UGroße Freiheit street, some of the group ended up in Homborger Veermaster, a bar which serves steins of wheat beer to the refrain of traditional German drinking songs.
At about 1.30 in the morning Liam left the bar, but, his brother said, because the group had split up, everyone assumed he was with someone else.

Twenty-nine-year-old Liam is a seasoned traveller who has toured Australia and Europe. His brother is certain Liam would not have taken drugs, nor was in any way depressed or suicidal.

But, he said: ‘Prior to Liam leaving we’d kind of noticed that he seemed to be drunker than everyone else. I’d made a comment, saying “Oh look, the best man is actually drunker than the stag”.

‘Lots of things go through your head – could he have been spiked?

‘Whilst he was in there it’s almost as if he was a bit disorientated. A barman ended up bringing him back to our table, because he went to another table and was kind of on his own. It’s very strange. He was also trying to put someone else’s jacket on. You don’t remember it all at the time but when someone else says it, you say oh I do remember that.’

A bakery worker told yesterday how colleagues were “certain” missing best man Liam Colgan was in their shop – four days after he vanished.

Bettina Diwinski said the 29-year-old wandered into the premises 20 miles outside Hamburg last Wednesday morning looking “confused”.

The 53-year-old said staff recognised him from missing posters which have been circulated since he disappeared in Hamburg on February 10.

Postman Liam was allegedly spotted into Dietz bakers in Buxtehude – a Saxon town which lies to the south-west of the city.

Bettina revealed shocked colleagues raised the alarm with police as another witness came forward yesterday to claim they had also seen Liam in the area.

The claim was reported to police in Germany yesterday and Liam’s family have been notified.

No further information was available last night on what exactly the witness claims to have seen.

Bettina, said yesterday: “We saw a photograph of the man in the newspapers and we realised he had been here.

“One of my colleagues is certain she saw him.

“He looked lost and confused and then he left the shop. He looked lonely.

“We recognised he had been here. We called police and they came to take some information from us.

“They used the police dog to track the scent and we heard it went to the train station.

“We just hope he is found. It’s a terrible thing and we hope that he can be found safe.”

Yes, that‘s odd. I can‘t see though how cctv footage from inside the bar would help here when there’s supposedly cctv footage of Liam outside the bar walking towards the subway station.

I hope they are still evaluating other cctv sources. Unlike Britain, Germany‘s privacy laws around public video surveillance are very restrictive.

CCTV footage could reveal the following:

someone following Liam around in the bar?

someone following Liam out the door of the bar?

someone slipping something in his drink?

More?

If they can break into a guys computer to find kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬 that was deleted 5 years ago, I'm sure they can break into some bar computer to retrieve CCTV footage.

Yep! :thumb:
