It is heartbreaking, especially when you read this...
Shortly thereafter, four officials stand in front of the yellow-washed house of Rebecca's parents on the corridor path. The blinds are half closed. The family asked for police presence to avert a media storm.

► At 2:15 pm, a woman with a blanket over her head is brought into the house, apparently the second oldest daughter, Vivien.

► At 14.22, Vivien answers via Instagram: "I'm not available. Please do not write to me. Do not call me. "

► At 2:37 pm civilian officials bring in two toddlers, apparently the niece and nephew of the disappeared girl.

► At 14.45 o'clock comes a civil patrol car, which brings the eldest daughter Jessica R. The family apparently wants to be together now.

► At 4:15 pm, four homicide investigators drive to their parents' home. Not ten minutes later, they come out with Jessica again. Apparently she is needed for further investigation.

► At 5 pm, Brigitte R. enters the house of Jessica and Florian on the Maurerweg. She lets down the blinds and comes out with a bag shortly thereafter. Apparently she brings things for her daughter.

► At 19:04 the investigators drive Jessica back to her parents. Her husband is taken by the homicide squad to a cell at the Landeskriminalamt in Tempelhof in a prisoner transporter.
Was genau geschah mit Rebecca (15)? Ihr Schwager schweigt!

Terrible. I can feel their pain. Good they're all together.

‘The investigators had suspected him from the beginning. On Thursday morning at 8.30 clock leave Florian R. and his wife Jessica their house in Britz, drive away in a small car. Apparently she had asked the 3rd Homicide Commission for a renewed hearing on the Keithstraße (Tiergarten).’ (I don’t understand the last sentance)

What is the source? I'll have a look at the German original.

Earlier it was asked how old Florian R. is. This article says he's 27.

Was genau geschah mit Rebecca (15)? Ihr Schwager schweigt!

@Ched the article also has the sentence you found confusing.

The correct translation should have been:
Apparently the 3rd Homicide Commission had asked them to come to Keithstraße (Tiergarten) for another interview.

It seems the police have arrived at the conclusion that she was taken from home, and that she did not walk to the bus stop. My next question is how they zeroed in on the brother in law and excluded an intruder during the night.

Start close to home and her last sighting (who and where) and work outward from there, not the other way around. IMO they had evidence early on so no reason to consider an intruder.

In the picture you can see the house has a garage

So he denies any involvement and is not talking. He seems stubborn and confident they won't find her. I hope they didn't just arrest him on a hunch in the hope he'll get scared and talk. I hope they have some solid evidence. A WhatsApp message won't be enough.

Where could he have brought her? At 7-8 am it is still dark, he might have gotten out of the house without being seen. Although it's also the time when everyone leaves for work and school. Does he work?

We haven’t heard of any obvious dna in house that foul play happend there . They only just have taken the car ( I think ) so they can test that . They have checked his phone so can they see from that where he’s been over past few days ?

He returned so late from a business thing .... just me thinking out loud ;he had another woman and Rebecca knew and was gonna tell her sister ???

We all here discussing the TL and in the meanwhile ...I read this:
"Jessica, the sister of the teenage girl, saw her for the last time on Monday, February 18, when Rebecca left for school around 7 o’clock. Very early, Jessica noticed that morning. “The school is about four kilometers away and she went by bus”, says the concerned twenties to the German newspaper Bild."

Seems like some MSM should verify the given info first...
Google Translate
So...according to THIS report...

RR and big sis left the house at the same time of 7:00 a.m.?
Sis to day care...
RR to the bus stop?

I wonder WHICH reporting is true?

Besides the obvious circumstancial timeline, have they said anything about evidence against the BIL? Did they search the house? How did the grey top connect to him? While I’m very glad he was looked at more closely and arrested, im wondering what/when they decided he was in fact the perp? Did they talk to his work? So many questions. It was so sad to see the sister seemingly defend him a bit out of her own need for denial. I feel terribly for the family, but the worst for her after all of this.
Just jumping onto this post...

I imagine his work place could verify if the "business dinner" did, indeed, last until just before 5:45 a.m....

when supposedly BIL arrived home on Monday...

Business dinner for a 27 year old? 5:45AM?

Yeah, I wish I thought if that line when I was 27, would have saved me a lot of trouble!

Here is more about the case:
Investigation success in the case of the missing Rebecca Reusch (15): Berlin police detained "one person", it should be the brother-in-law.

31f2cd27e93a4532b22bc7ad57b47e54

In the case of missing 15-year-old Rebecca Reusch , the police arrested one person on Thursday. This was reported by the authorities in the early afternoon. It should act according to an unconfirmed report of the "Bild" newspaper to the brother-in-law of the 15-year-olds. "We have a suspect," said a spokesman.

The suspicion that Rebecca victim of a criminal offense, had hardened after extensive investigations, they said. Details did not make the police. The arrested person will continue to be heard, said a police spokesman.

The investigators have until Friday evening, the allegation against the man condense so much that the prosecutor can raise a so-called urgent suspicion. Then an arrest warrant and pre-trial detention could be applied for. Otherwise, the investigators would have to release the man until Friday, 23.59 clock again. Rebecca's brother-in-law had been questioned by the police twice before, and he had been suspected of social networks as well.

Interesting...

Above post states BIL had been questioned twice before (which we all know now)...

AND "he had been suspected of social networks as well."

I wonder what "suspected of social networks" means...

does this pertain to THIS (RR's) case?

Or previously?

Does he work?

Answering my own question because I just remembered, of course (!) apparently he came home at 5.45 am from an office party. So he must be working in an office, although I don't have the impression he is a high earner. jmo

And although parties in Germany can and do go on till late in the night, 5.45 seems a bit excessive, especially on a Sunday night into Monday morning. Did he have the day off?

It was explained before. It's a bad translation. It means he was suspected by people on social media already.

BILD says BIL came home from a "corporate party"...
At 5:45 a.m...

That jumped out at me from the beginning...o_O

Who’s ever been to a corporate party till that time in the morning on a Sunday ??? You’d be expected to go to work Monday . The only thing I can think of is high flyer business men that wine and dine clients and for example take them to a casino etc to win their business . All very odd to me . Perhaps the corporate party is just him and one other person ?

  • #238
I bet that’s one of the reasons he’s been kept- they probably figured out parts of his alibis weren’t true.. 545 is so so excessive, even if he did have Monday off. I wonder if something happened to her over Sunday night and his absence in bed made him say that because he was in front of his wife when questioned initially?

You‘ve got to consider Berlin is a vibrant, modern, big city known for excessive parties.

There are many startup companies in Berlin where that wouldn’t be out of the ordinary. I am in the IT field and we had quite a few wild parties all through the night. :D But if he works at a bank or insurance company, probably not!

Interesting theory!

I had not thought of that...

though I HAVE wondered what "activities" he had been involved in during Sunday night into Monday morning...
KWIM?...
