Just to clarify how WhatsApp works:
One grey checkmark - message was sent but hasn't been received yet by the other person's phone
Two grey checkmarks - message was received by the other's phone but hasn't been read yet
Two blue checkmarks - the other person has read the message

Adding photos for clarification from my own app

In terms of narrowing down the timeline when something most likely happened, can it be said that she was at her sister's house and actively using social media until 8AM? This is based on this statement:

Original
"Verschiedenen unbestätigten Berichten zufolge soll Rebeccas Handy aber nach Erkenntnissen der Polizei von 6 bis 8 Uhr im WLAN-Router eingeloggt gewesen sein - über WhatsApp sollen an ihren Handy auch noch Nachrichten geschrieben worden sein."

Translation
"According to various unconfirmed reports, Rebecca's cell phone is said to have been logged into the WLAN router [at her sister's house] from 6 am to 8 am - WhatsApp is said to have [connected with or] written messages on her cell phone [at that time]."

Schwager ist wieder auf freiem Fuß: Polizei hält vermisste Rebecca Reusch für tot - Berlin - Tagesspiegel

The brother in law has said that Rebecca was gone at 8:30.

Based on this information, something happened to her between 8 and 8:30AM, at the same time that the only other person in the house was the brother-in-law. I think that opens up several possibilities:
  • she left voluntarily very early for school (parents say she did not typically go early) and took her blanket and school supplies with her - perhaps related to the WhatsApp messages
  • her brother-in-law did something to her and disappeared her body during the day, although he had no way of knowing that the school would not alert her parents to her absence
  • someone entered the house and took her between 8 - 8:30AM

This is nagging at me. Perhaps it’s my ignorance... Why is the timeline being based off her cellphone and this app? Is it not possible someone else used RR’s phone and app, even pretending to be her? MOO

He (BIL) had come home from a company party at his Kudamm hotel around 5:45 am that morning, the cook had told investigators. Around 7 o'clock Rebecca's sister Jessica (27) left the house to go to work.

Florian Rs. According to statements, Rebecca had already left the house in Maurerweg, when he looked for her mother at 8.30 clock for her. Even then, Rebecca's mother Brigitte (52) had tried to contact her daughter, wrote at 8.42 clock: "Hello sweetie, I hope you have come to school on time. I could not reach you at all. "

On Friday, the homicide squad had examined the house. Forensic scientists secured traces and took away possible evidence in brown paper bags. The evaluation of the secured objects will take a few days according to BILD information.

Are we still saying 7:15 he went to wake her and she wasn’t there or is that all wrong now ?

That's a good possibility, and a question that only those who know her can answer - regarding her style and tone of messages.

In many ways, it is possible that her brother-in-law did something to her in the middle of the night, removed her from the house, and returned to the house alone at 5:45AM.

There is activity on her phone that connects the phone to the WLAN router in the house between 6 - 8AM, but that also corresponds to the time that the brother-in-law was at the house, and it's possible that the brother in law was using her phone to create false evidence and give the impression that she was at the house texting between 6 - 8 AM.

As far as I can tell, he gave two times: around 7AM and around 8:30AM. The 8:30 time corresponds to her mother asking him to make sure that she was up for school. At this time he said that she was not at home. The 7AM time is unclear - he saw that she was at home, maybe not, don't know.

It is very confusing and it is so far only a digital trail of that morning.

In the meanwhile the RRs family continue their own search

If the brother-in-law did something to her, then either she is still in the house, or he removed her. Removing her has two possibilities - on foot, or by car. If she was removed by car, she could be anywhere. If she was removed by foot, she's probably very close to the house.

I'm curious whether police have been able to rule out that the brother-in-law made any unusual trips on the night before she was noticed missing, and the two days after she disappeared.

Wouldn't his wife be able to verify the time that he came home? It doesn't seem as though he could have crept into a spare bedroom, because if there was one, the sister wouldn't be sleeping on the couch.

If a murder had occurred in the home during the night, wouldn't it create a stir and waken the wife and/or the kids? So that leaves just a short window of opportunity after his wife and kids left for school.

Morgenpost :

-Investigators now know that Rebecca's cell phone re-dialed into the house's WiFi router on the day of the disappearance. That happened at a time when Rebecca allegedly already left the house.

I did read in one of the articles that the sister is a nurse. I think it's possible that she heard something in the night and dismissed it as someone in the house doing something normal, or perhaps she didn't hear anything?

If he accosted his niece, startled her, put his hand over her mouth to keep her quiet and she tried to resist, couldn't it have been over very quickly with nothing more to do than drag the body to the garage and put it in the car?

How far can you be away from the house WiFi router and still connect to it ?

I’m so confused about times as thought we had big sister leaving house at 7am and her phoning husband at 7:15 to go wake her ?

In the United States, A general rule of thumb in home networking says that Wi-Fi routers operating on the traditional 2.4 GHz band reach up to 150 feet (46 m) indoors and 300 feet (92 m) outdoors. Older 802.11a routers that ran on 5 GHz bands reached approximately one-third of these distances. Newer 802.11n and 802.11ac routers that operate on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands vary in the reach similarly.

That's something that points towards the brother-in-law in the sense that he was getting rid of the phone after she supposedly left the house to go to school.

So...

Here we see another person "in the mix"...

"He (BIL) had come home from a company party at his Kudamm hotel at around at 5:45 a.m. that morning, the cook had told investigators."

Is Kudamm the name of the hotel at which BIL works...
Or is it the city in which it was located?

and... Who is this cook?
I am not trying to find guilt in this person...

but... I imagine a cook in the house could have some very important information to share... KWIM?

JMO...
