Maybe they do. The article posted above only says this car is used by Rebecca‘s sister‘s family.

The report was that the wife took the child(ren) to daycare at 7am. I do not recall there being a “how” this was accomplished. Did she use a car? Did she walk to a bus stop? Did she just walk, and then travel to her work?

Rebecca Reusch: Schwager soll nach Brandenburg gefahren sein

Apparently, when the pictures are published, there is a suspicion that the brother-in-law, on the morning Rebecca disappeared, hid the girl's corpse in Brandenburg and buried her there or otherwise disposed of her the following day.

Awww, that’s really sad to see those words written out. This young girl had her whole life in front of her, and to realize that evil took her away from our world is heartbreaking.

Ok so who’s going to volunteer to test drive a twingo today and see if they can fit in the boot ?
It seems the boot space in a Twingo is 188 litres which can be expanded to 215 by putting the rear seats into a fully upright position.
By comparison an average human has a volume of 66 litres, but of course, we have an awkward shape.

The rear seats of a Twingo can also be folded forward to make a large, completely flat, rear space. That would be plenty of space to transport a person, especially with a convenient purple blanket to cover the rear.

I guess that means he took a panicked trip out there the day it happened, found a place/means to temporarily conceal the body and then returned the next night to finish the job.
I’m sure other cctv will show up with the fresh rounds of appeals that will allow police to zone in on Rebecca’s location.
What a sad ending. And what went on in that house in the wee hours of the morning when the BIL returned from work?

He did had the car for these 2 days!
-The family car was registered by a license plate recognition system on the day of the disappearance of Rebecca at 10:47 am on the A12 between Berlin and Frankfurt / Oder.
Another time the next day at 22:39. The prosecutor also confirmed that at this time only the brother in law had access to the car.

So we don’t know if the camera gets him traveling the same direction at each time point or if he stayed up there and came back next day , it sort of sounds like the same camera so he wasn’t captured on return trips , wondering if you can see online where motorway cameras are placed like you can in the uk . I’ve taken a screenshot , no idea if correct though of where the main road changes name to ‘A12’ where I’ve drawn an arrow . When he is first captured 10:47am nobody knows she’s yet missing as they find out when school ends if I have that correct but next day 22:39 is when the whole family is in panic mode

My guess is a mistress maybe?

I would think not since the father seems to think he knows why he went up there and the family previously said that FR is a good hearted person. I don't think they would say that if they knew that he cheated on their daughter.

I think it was said (yesterday?) that he had no access to the car at 7am so she probably used the car at that time and he later got it from her.

Wow if sister didn't know about this trip(s) she must be in agony now.

Thanks for the visual Ched! Lots of green out there. I wonder if they have a favourite spot there somewhere, a place he's been to before.

Hopefully he was seen on the return trip too so they can roughly figure out how far he went.

Rebecca Reusch (15) missing: Police publish photos of the brother-in-law - father of the student begs him: "Just talk!"

Wednesday, March 6th
17:47: The police want to find out by evidence from the population, where the brother-in-law has driven his wife's car. And if there may be found the body of Rebecca. The police now assume that the 15-year-old is dead.

16:48: On Wednesday evening, the police will present the case to the TV program "Aktenzeichen XY ... unresolved!". There it should also concern that the investigators need information from the population: Who saw the sister's car shortly after the disappearance of the student more than two weeks ago twice in Brandenburg, on the highway between Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder) ?

The car was registered by a registration system. Around 50 to 60 kilometers from the sister's home in Berlin, the Twingo is said to have been recorded. The investigators suspect that the brother-in-law has taken away the corpse of Rebecca. Police hope to find Rebecca's body along this route.

15:46: The police have published photos of the brother in law. As the dpa reports, it is apparently the suspicion that the brother in law the morning Rebecca disappeared, hid the corpse of the girl in Brandenburg and buried it the evening of the following day there or otherwise got rid of her.

The investigators now turn to the television audience. The program "Aktenzeichen XY ... unresolved" will take place on Wednesday evening at 8.15 pm on the case of Rebecca. In the studio will be the head of the 3rd Homicide.

15:01: "16 days ... feels like years." Vivien, the sister of Rebecca has posted another call in her Instagram story. She asks to give all indications of Rebecca's whereabouts directly to the police in Berlin.

12:46: Rebecca's father has responded with an appeal to his son-in-law. He tells RTL: "Florian, just talk! Clarify that, so that the whole search goes in the other direction. In the right direction. So that we can find Becci. "The 55-year-old believes in the innocence of his son-in-law.

12:32: What says the evening before the disappearance of Rebecca? The older sister Vivien said: "Jessica and Rebecca ordered pizza, played Sims, looked for a caravan for the holidays". A "normal sisters evening," says the second sister Jessica on TV to "Sat.1". Profiler Axel Petermann said to Bild that the key to the case may be in the course of the previous evening.

9:48: The suspected brother in law is said to have only expressed, "to have nothing to do with the disappearance" and that police could "not harm" him without a corpse. This is reported by the Berliner Zeitung.

6.25: The car in which Rebecca's hair was found, was driven in the morning of Rebecca's disappearance on the highway in the direction of Frankfurt / Oder. As the "Bild" reported, captured the Brandenburg police the license plate with a detection system. However, who was sitting behind the wheel is unknown.

Tuesday, March 5th
20:39: On Tuesday evening, there is still no indication of Rebecca. Her brother-in-law is urgently suspected, is in custody. He is silent there. Now a colleague has talked about him. He describes the 27-year-old as talkative and very friendly. He would always greet, he told BILD.

Even a friend of Rebecca knows the brother in law as a friendly, sympathetic man. She met him last year at the Confirmation (church event). "I can not imagine that he did something to Rebecca," she told Bild.

Is it possible the BIL told the family that he had a job interview to go to in another town? Or that he was visiting his parents or a sick relative. I think thats more likely than a mistress. As you say, the family still seemed to be supporting BIL's innocence and would have been very unlikely to do that if he said he had a girlfriend!.

To understand more we do need to know whether the sister used the car to go on the nursery run and if so how long the car was in use by her. My own (current guess) is that Rebecca was killed by BIL before her sister left the house - possibly at or before 5.45am. In that scenario there was of course a very big risk that her sister could have discovered her when she was leaving for nursery - either by poking her head round the door to say goodbye and seeing Rebecca wasn't there or that she didn't respond and was dead.

I then believe R's body was moved to a temporary hiding place by BIL on the 18th and then moved to a better place on the 19th.

I wonder if LE searched with cadaver dogs in/ around the house and car...?
Good question! You’d think they would have done that immediately when he was suspected.
It’s been said that bodies take roughly 30mins-2 hours to start expelling cadaverine, the human death scent. If the cadaver dogs did not hit in the car, it’s possible the incident took place around 9am and traces wouldn’t have been left in the car trunk?

Right now presented in "Aktenzeichen XY"!
Ha, they have an English wiki, so we don’t have to explain what it is! :D

Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöst - Wikipedia
Aktenzeichen XY ... ungelöst (German for "Case number XY … Unsolved") is an interactive German television programme first broadcast on 20 October 1967 on ZDF. Created by Eduard Zimmermann, it aims to combat and solve crimes. The programme is currently presented by Rudi Cerne. It airs monthly, with 12 episodes in a year, on Wednesday at 8:15 PM.

I don’t see why the police would not be told who was driving the car or where the car was going .... if you had any other explanation than carrying a body , even if you were going for example to buy drugs you’d tell the police that rather than be held over a murder , if the wife had the car she would be the first to say she’d had it and dispel anything over husband , all sounds so odd that this bit hasn’t be resolved in a police announcement. Even if you had a mistress would you be so mean as to go the night after all this happened ? I’m still finding it hard to believe it’s him though when family sticking up for him so much.

As far as I know cadaver dogs would be able to pick up a scent a long time after a dead body has been in a certain location. Maybe they did but this information has not been released.

Kinda off topic, but nevertheless... seems like the registration license place is public known now...
I do have to admit that LE Brandenburg has a valid point, when it comes to this...! Imo

"Torsten Herbst, spokesman for the Brandenburg police headquarters, told the Tagesspiegel: "We are very angry that the Berlin authorities have simply trumpeted details of the facility and the location. That does not make it easier for us to search for car thieves and other offenders. Nobody needs to reveal sensitive investigative techniques to other offenders even in such a dramatic case as the missing Rebecca. Now all future offenders know how to behave. They will have an easier time not getting caught. "

The Berlin police professional association "Independent" criticized: "Publish the tactics of the police, is actually the supergau." The SPD Berlin expert Tom Schreiber asked: "Why do not the Berlin authorities talk with their colleagues in Brandenburg?" The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office left a request unanswered.

Brandenburg's police has been using the automatic license plate search since 2010, meanwhile there are eleven devices. The mission is regulated in the police law. Kesy may initially be used for so-called security. If, for example, a car was stolen in Kiel or a serious crime was committed with a particular vehicle, the local police will write the car for a search. The license plate is then fed into Brandenburg in Kesy. The system detects all vehicles, in the event of a hit it sounds an alarm. If there is no hit, the recorded numbers are deleted immediately."

Auto des Schwagers erfasst: Wo verschwand Rebecca Reusch? - Berlin - Tagesspiegel

The investigators announced in the evening at "Aktenzeichen XY ... unsolved!" that they have come to the conclusion: Rebecca has not left her sister's house. At least not alive.

22:03: The sister of Rebecca posted after the broadcast on Instagram pictures of herself and Rebecca. She writes: "My heart is broken. I miss you so much. "The police are now assuming that Rebecca is dead.

21:45: Countless clues are currently arriving at the homicide. In "Aktenzeichen XY ... unresolved!", the investigators point out that callers should be patient, if they do not get through directly. "The officials are overwhelmed, the phones do not stand still, "said an investigator in the program.

21.30 clock: Rudi Cerne and the chief investigator Hoffmann call again witnesses to report to the homicide on 030/4664911333.

21:27: "We conclude that Rebecca has definitely not left the house. And with that, the brother-in-law is absolutely a prime suspect, "says chief mediator Michael Hoffmann. In addition, the trips of the car pose questions. "Who noticed the car?"

21:06: Even if the police should not find the corpse of Rebecca, the brother-in-law could be charged with manslaughter. However, the investigators need sufficient evidence. In "Aktenzeichen XY ... unresolved!", the chief investigator talks about the status of the investigation in the case of Rebecca Reusch.

20:52: The brother-in-law remains silent. Rebecca's father has appealed to him to finally clear up everything so that he could be released and the police could investigate in another direction. The family believes in his innocence.

20:35: The brother-in-law of Rebecca is in pre-trial detention for urgent suspicion of manslaughter. But a Berlin lawyer has now told Bild that the evidence against him would not be enough for a lawsuit. It is now the task of the investigators to find sufficient evidence that the brother-in-law remains in custody.

An important proof would be the finding of the body of Rebecca. But the investigators are running out of time. Because the longer a human body decomposes, the harder it is to secure tracks.
