Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein confidante, arrested on Sex Abuse charges, July 2020

Reddit’s former boss has been slammed for saying she “knew about” the shocking GM child abuse claims nine years ago but didn't speak up.

Ellen Pao, the ex-CEO of the social news site, revealed the Brit socialite was at a glamorous Christmas party she went to, which was hosted by the venture capitalist firm she was working for at the time.

“We knew about her supplying underage girls for sex, but I guess that was fine with the ‘cool’ people who managed the tightly controlled guest list,” she added.

“To be clear, the press had described her as supplying underage girls for sex, but she had not been charged so I guess it would be more accurate to say we ‘suspected’ v ‘knew,'” she tweeted later.

When asked if everyone at the party was okay with Maxwell being there, Pao replied those that drew up the guest list were fine with it.

I was wondering how she was receiving packages, food, meds, etc.

Did the FBI/SDNY look into the 'cool' individuals who managed the guest list? How do they decide who to interview when the GM/JE scheme seemed to be an open secret?

GM got that NH property for peanuts? I completely missed this aspect of the GM/JE saga until Jax49 responded to RickshawFan! There are too many layers to this international rotting onion. I wonder if Deutsche Bank had an invisible hand in the transaction. Maybe it didn't cost GM a penny? It reminds me of the deal where Trump flipped a Florida property for an absurd markup, only, the other way around. See Miami Herald article for refresher.

Not seeing what you are, there are many comps, the area is littered with large properties, some gorgeous houses with lots of acreage. It was a good price but hardly peanuts. At $1.2 million, 20 minutes away 84 Nelson Hill Rd S, Bradford, NH 03221 or less then a half hour away $1.150 534 Mountain Rd, Francestown, NH
14 bedrooms/15 baths, looks like quite the compound...

That said, the history had it previously listed for higher, and no sale at that price.
12/13/2019 Sold $1,070,750 -10.4% Margaret Weathers
4/19/2019 Listed for sale $1,195,000 +13.8%
12/20/2017 Sold $1,050,000 -16% Margaret Weathers
12/15/2017 Listing removed $1,250,000
10/18/2017 Pending sale $1,250,000
7/12/2017 Listed for sale $1,250,000

The problem really might have been too much acreage. You have as much privacy on 50 acres as you do on 100 but your tax bill is considerably less. When realtors are trying to price property they use recent sales and other listed properties located as close as possible with similar features. USDA land value guide, while interesting, would never be on any realtors agenda to use as a guide for pricing IMO.

VIP guest lists of that era will have been pretty tone-deaf to even Epstein/Maxwell -level transgressions, IME -- they shouldn't have been, but often were.

Not going to go into detail but worked for a while at a high-end private members' club for a while some years ago. Clientele was exclusively A-list and the levels of casual drug use/generalized all-purpose misbehaviour that went on night after night was epic and mostly unremarked. Would we have noticed and complained about out-and-out exploitation of the kind JE/GM sought? Absolutely, and we'd have been listened to, and they'd have been turfed. Might they have snuck back in on the back of a subsequent VIP party hosted by a third party? Very possibly, though the third-party would have been told the score and expected to stay honest next time round. Would many of the people in that sphere cared? Yes, but not all of them, especially if they were implicated in some way.

My point is that IME it was a world fuelled by favours and obligations, new and old, and even outright criminality would have taken a while to filter through the social network for something like shunning to properly occur, especially in the earlier days of SM. Not an excuse, by any measure -- it was reprehensible then as now, just a few quick thoughts on my own experiences as an underling navigating that world (legally!) back in the day.

Excellent, excellent post! It helps me understand this type of thing better.

I can’t stop thinking about it.
And what was the concrete mixer for??

Well, I'm not sure if you're being serious, but say somebody else reading this does't know... If a person is of such a mind, say, Paul Bernardo, it'd be for cementing body parts and tossing them in local waterways or irrigation ditches or wherever.

Did he get released? I thought the DOJ put a stop to that.

ETA: Wow, he was released, but as you say, he's back.

Michael Cohen remanded because he apparently refused to sign BOP documentboutlining conditions for his release - related to writing a book and media appearances among others. All this after he was photographed eating at an outdoor restaurant while on release due to covid.

Once a grifter always a grifter. Now, he can keep GM company. I wonder how well he knew her, since JE was a staple in Palm Beach, with his own place there.

In the Thursday night court filing, [URL='https://abcnews.go.com/US/ghislaine-maxwell-paper-clothes-correctional-center-avoid-suicide/story?id=71699000']Maxwell issued broad denials to nearly every allegation in Doe’s complaint and argued that whatever damages may have been suffered by Doe, they were not caused by Maxwell.

“[Does’s] damages, if any, were the result of her own conduct,” her attorney wrote, contending that Doe had “voluntarily or negligently assumed a known risk” and had “consented to the alleged conduct.”

Ghislaine Maxwell attorneys call federal indictment against her 'meritless'

Voice your concerns about the safety of Ghislaine Maxwell by sending a message to Brooklynn MDC:

BOP: Inmate Concerns

Done! Here's my message:

My concern is for her life, whether by suicide or attack. There are powerful and wealthy individuals who stand to benefit from her death. For justice's sake, don't assign incompetent guards to her cell or forget to turn the cameras on.

GM has been issued paper clothes upon checking into the MDC in Brooklyn, New York, officials familiar with the matter have revealed.

While it is unclear whether she has been placed on suicide watch, her personal clothes and sheets have been removed for fear she may harm herself.

Similar measures are standard procedure for high-profile inmates or new inmates, however it is believed the precautions go far beyond the precautions that were taken when they first arrested her.

The Bureau of Prisons has declined to comment.

The other protocols put in place for Ms Maxwell’s confinement include ensuring that she has a roommate in her cell, is monitored and making sure someone is always with her while she is behind bars, the official said.
