The daughter didn’t live at the Massapequa home so I had assumed they stayed wherever she lived but I suppose not. Jmo.
Perhaps that's lawyerese preparing for legal action. Yes, if you don't have a bed, make pallets in the floor.Couldn't they stay with wife's sister or in a hotel/motel?
I'm shocked.

But is the condo in Las Vegas a time share, or do they own it? If they own it, then I guess the divorce process will divide up the assets and that may be an option if she still has money left after the division of property and the payment of whatever debts they have.

I also wonder how tides and weather plays into it. The area can become incredibly saturated in storms and we have had quite a few storms and hurricanes since then.My theory is he dumped the bodies to throw off jurisdictions some parts found in Nassau county some found in Suffolk county and I also think he did this to also make it harder to ID the victims. Karen's torso has never been found. To my knowledge only her skull and legs were found.
The district attorney also attributed the delay to the need to contact Vergata’s family members.
However, it has since emerged that Vergata’s two biological sons - Eric and Gary Doherty - apparently were not informed before Friday’s announcement.
Eric’s girlfriend Michelle Nolan told the New York Post that he only found out after the press conference when they were contacted by the woman who adopted them as young children a few years before Vergata’s death.
Ms Nolan said Eric was distraught, having believed that Vergata was only missing.

I don't know about the sister, but I work with domestic violence survivors, and a common problem that keeps them from leaving is that the abuser has such a tight hold on the "family" pursestrings that they literally cannot afford to stay in a motel because all access to money goes through the abuser. I can't say if RH was ever physically abusive to AE or the kids, but I think we can deduce from his extreme hatred of women that he would have been abusive in other ways, and from the state of the dilapidated house and the family using food stamps versus the amount of money he spent on SW, travel, Manhattan office rent, etc. we can conjecture that some of that abuse was financial. I would not be the least bit surprised if AE could not even afford a cheap motel. I've seen it dozens of times.Couldn't they stay with wife's sister or in a hotel/motel?

My advice for them is to find a new location ASAP. Pay someone to pack up/empty the house, and never return ever. for their OWN SANITY!
I’d agree, except that to PAY someone you have to have money.
The idea that the wife was on food stamps, while he was a well-regarded architect working with many city agencies, suggests to me that he kept her in poverty somehow.
Her living in that dilapidated house while they had property in other states is IMO also persuasive that he kept her on a tight leash.
In NY she would’ve not been eligible for food stamps based on her husband’s salary and the ownership of a condo or timeshare in Vegas, along with the South Carolina property. I’m wondering how that happened.

Moving far far away is exactly what I would do in their situation. I cannot fathom why they'd ever want to stay there in the circumstances. My advice for them is to find a new location ASAP. Pay someone to pack up/empty the house, and never return ever. for their OWN SANITY!
Is there any mention of his wife’s DNA being collected being there’s evidence of her hair on binding of remains?![]()
Court documents: Suffolk DA's office has requested cheek swab from Rex Heuermann
After Heuermann’s arrest, his wife, daughter and stepson voluntarily provided cheek swabs for DNA analysis. However, Heuermann still has not.bronx.news12.com
…
Without a DNA sample taken directly from Heuermann’s mouth, as opposed to items such as a water bottle or partially eaten pizza, forensic biologists at the Suffolk County Crime Lab are limited in how they can testify at trial regarding Heuermann’s DNA profile.
According to the criminal court documents, forensics biologists would only be able to reference the pizza crusts and napkin as believed to be “used or touched” by Heuermann and would not be allowed to say it is his DNA profile.
“If the defendant’s DNA from a buccal swab sample matches the mitochondrial DNA profile developed from the hair recovered from Megan Waterman’s remains, there is scientific evidence of the Defendant’s contact not only with Ms. Waterman and where her remains were discovered, but also with the burlap utilized to restrain and transport her human remains,” Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Michelle Haddad said in the court filings.
Prosecutors also argued that a denial of a cheek swab could deprive Heuermann of a crucial defense at trial if his DNA from the swab does not match the DNA profile from the pizza crusts and napkin.
The defense, which did not return a request for comment, has until next week to oppose the motion. Otherwise, Heuermann will have to provide a cheek swab by August 15.

I know it's the only home they've known for so long but the feeling it must generate after what's happened should outweigh any good nostalgia.
Also realise money is an issue but they should be able to utilise the fund and just go!
Foxfire was the best!Going to read post history now. It's always crazy when someone from this forum passes.

Yes. 12 bottles from household trash were taken and tested. Testing positive as a match on 3 victims to the wife’s hair.Is there any mention of his wife’s DNA being collected being there’s evidence of her hair on binding of remains?
