Well, good news. Still hoping for IDs on the other victims and charges against RH in Maureen's murder. Fingers crossed for this all to happen soon!
I agree with you; it's crucial to bringing a satisfactory closure to the case.I am as well.
Think that beach could do with another cadaver dog search.. The beach and every geographical location resembling it with easy travelling distance of LI
Looks like they got her nose pretty well, looking at the recon. It's long and prominent. Her actual nose flares more at the bottom, but that's soft tissue, so a lot of it is guesswork. As for the browline, with that long fringe covering her eyebrows in the school photo, it's impossible to tell how close the artist got. We'd need another photo, but I have a feeling that if they had another of her as an adult they would have used it. Maybe not, though. Her adult photos may be mugshots, and today, it was right to use a photo that humanised, not degraded, her.View attachment 438993Karen Vergata, 34 years old, although this must be a much younger pic. Looks like highschool? In the 70s?
I don't know..Am I correct in remembering most victims were last seen on/about a holiday (or at least a noted US calendar day)? Labor Day, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, etc??
Karen Vergata is going home. My prayers are with her family.
I think we'll find Bittrolff connected to this case. Just a hunch.
There's not necessarily anything sinister in that, people often see friends and family on holidays. But if it's a public holiday, it may also suggest time off work for a predator. (So Valentine's wouldn't count.)Am I correct in remembering most victims were last seen on/about a holiday (or at least a noted US calendar day)? Labor Day, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, etc??
That DoeNet page you linked says the paper was likely from a calendar, and had words and phrases in Spanish written on it. So, not likely a Bible. Perhaps from something like a day planner though? Those have calendars in them.Hoping "Peaches", her baby and "Cherries Doe" can all get identified soon as well! Wondering if the paper scraps found with Cherries came from a Bible? (hence, looking for a Bible in the search warrant)

It really does give me hope that we are going to see IDs for ALL known victims in the near future. So many people are going to get to go home. I'm honestly in tears I'm so happy.I didn't expect this. I expected a superseding indictment for the murder of MBB or an identification of another victim but did not think it would be Fire Island Jane Doe from 1997, 27 years ago. This is really good imo. It demonstrates that they are really drilling down on all of the unsolved cases. They are on a mission!
