I definitely think he’d had contact with every girl at least once before, with the exception of maybe Sandra and Valerie. Sandra, we just don’t know enough about, and Valerie wasn’t a frequent visitor of New York. At least from what I read about her. If anyone can contradict that, I’d love to see it.
I think there are probably many victims that escaped him but too afraid to come forward...I don't blame them really.

Its probably been discussed before but I've just had a proper look at gilgo beach on Google maps and im half surprised he didn't (as far as we know) dump body/s in the water (ie off the bridges that lead to gilgo) as that seams most logical to me and what meny murderers do ie dump/put bodys in water just my thought

I think he did as well, at some point(s). He had that "sandbagger" email address. And this would be especially cunning jmo if he weighted the bodies down. Look at the Lake Mead situation. They're finding bodies decades old there.

Clever. I hadn’t connected that email to a water dump. However, I have considered that bodies in burlap could resemble a large sand bag. Who would think twice if a “worker” was on the side of the road setting up a sand bag? Or if you were driving by and saw a burlap “sand bag” in the bushes. Dead body? That’s just a sand bag…..

Well he didn’t kill them all. What’s her name…. Danielle Goodling? Too bad she passed away, RIP…She would have been an interesting police interview.

Hmmm you know, when he called Amanda ( Melissa’s sister) the last time, he says something along the lines of “I’ve been watching your sister rot”. That was more than a month after she disappeared. Maybe he was just bring an ***hole, or maybe he wasn’t…. that could be the reason he changed his MO slightly with the 4. So he could go visit them.

True. However, every time he drove across the bridge, the memory could be relished. We don't know how important "visiting" them was, nor even controlling where they were.

When I looked at the map and saw just how much water was there, I really believed a boat was involved and that his "avid duck hunting" played into his history. Also, so many mentions of one of the bridges in Manhattan where boats can be docked has made me wonder.

I realize use of a boat has been ruled out by most people.

However, in a corner of my mind, I still wonder. I wonder if waiting until his family were out of town allowed him enough kills. If he really waited, planned and bided his time, daydreaming of his big event so much of the time. Did he really restrict himself to the occasional event?

Investigators have connected one of the two phone numbers listed in an alleged planning document tied to Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex A. Heuermann to a former Bronx sex worker, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The phone number was made public in June when Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney asked for help in identifying a woman Heuermann may have targeted around 2002''
''The one number has been linked to Danielle Goodling, a former Bronx sex worker who died in 2021 from an apparent drug overdose, her family told Newsday.''

''Goodling was involved in sex work in New York during the late 1990s and early 2000s and had multiple arrests, with two occurring in 2002 near Heuermann's former office.''

Yeah thats what I first thought especially off the great South Bay bridge Google maps street view goes back to 08 and its literally perfect for a body dump in my opinion no cameras long relatively open bridge over a large mass of deep/fast enough water to me its a no brainer if in the position to dump a body that's where I'd do it

He more than likely did go back to bask in he's work (many serial killers do) also he's been doing it so long (from 93 I believe was the first he's linked to so far) he's going to have different MO's just like the multiple locations he'll think (at the time) he's gotten away with it

Maybe, he stalked the girls before his first contact already until he got their real name. With the real name he was able to control, whether the girls officially would be missing by someone in the near future and since when and by whom (relative or not).
MOO, I think that's a very strong possibility. He was certainly very interested in "getting to know" his targets, which makes sense in terms of his twisted plans. And absolutely, it gives him increased control and more "bite" for his sadistic thriills. But logistically, it's probably vitally important, as he knows exactly who will be aware when he makes a given victim disappear. He can prepare himself accordingly.

How far did he take it? Was he actively also stalking/surveilling other clients of the intentded victims? Because I still can't help but wonder after the Sandra Costilla charge if there's another level of manipulation involved in RH's sick machinations. LE was so positive that the murderer of Sandra Costilla also murdered Rita Tangredi and Colleen McNamee. If that's the case, I would think there was either some (at that time) active and very real association between RH and Bitrolff OR... RH knew someone else would likely be blamed and-- acted accordingly in those cases as well.
Something just occurred to me concerning his searches. The timing of his searching for names and the date LE knew who a body was would be incriminating IF RH ever searched by name for someone who was still unidentified. That would not have happened, of course, if his searches were just broad searches for updates on LISK.

If a body had been found but was unidentified and RH searched for the name of the woman she was later identified to be . . . WOW

RSBMFF
Completely agreed on this as well. Wouldn't that be something? One can only hope for more from those devices. I sure hope there is more information there, and I have a feeling there is. Look how relatively quickly they found HK. Guess only: There's more to be gained from those devices, (hopefully) considerably more. What the devices probably won't do, though, is give information for his earliest kills. I've thought from the beginning he murdered every single person found on Ocean Parkway and beyond. I still do, and RH may not be a talker once he's convicted. If that's the case, it'll be a wing and a prayer trying to ascertain exactly who this sick freak un-alived over the decades, and to learn the names of unidentified victims on Ocean Parkway.

"Your honor, I'm not guilty of any of these charges." LOL, please. Please. This guy's something to behold.

My initial theory when Rex was arrested was that he intended to make his kills look like other peoples kills. This was mainly based off of all the murder.inc posts that came out about the missing and the dead all over Brooklyn and Long Island. Not too sure if that holds relevant to me now after all of the evidence that has been released.
Bittrolff has wanted them to look into his case again. There’s that if anything but I do think they have some damning DNA is his case.

I’ve made a similar post on the most recent Shannan Gilbert thread if anyone is also interested. I have re-read lost girls and I picked up on a few details I didn’t know about. I’m sure these things have already been discussed but its just some details that stood out to me in lieu of all the new evidence that’s come out.
The first connections Maureen had to escorting in New York was from her friend Chrissy- who was a boy dressed as a girl.In 2004 when she started traveling to New York, she started having serial killer dreams. I wonder when she met Rex? She also got pregnant that same year and stopped going.
An Indian English guy named VIPs, (he had a huge birthmark on face)Set Maureen up with top ads on Craigslist by using a program(hack).
She had a set of rules for out-calls. Never leave Manhattan and only stay in parts of Manhattan. She told her friend that no amount of money could save your life. July 10 she was due in eviction court. She knew her ex would make a play for her son so she needed $1100 to cover her eviction costs. That weekend, when Maureen and her friend tried to post ads on their own, they were removed. It’s possible VIPs did this because they weren’t using him and he was mad. They couldn’t make any money. They were desperate. By Sunday, they only made $700. ( I had read somewhere else that they started calling their regulars to try and make money. It makes sense but I’m not sure how accurate that is.)Her friend and chaperones went back, but Maureen insisted on staying.

Melissa went by Chloe, Maureen went by Marie. When he called her friend Sara, he,Rex, called Maureen Marie(I actually got that part from the doc ‘the killing season’. He didn’t know her real name. Maureen also had a tattoo that said Nicole and Rex mentioned that to Sara too.(also from ‘the killing season’)
Melissa had a tattoo that said blaze.
Melissa and her friend Kritzia had a John method. They thought a man with a briefcase had just come from work, had a life and family and would be no trouble.Melissa used to run scams on John’s. Different scams for different John’s.
Melissa was way too trusting and her friend worried about that. Melissa’s pimp said he knew the John in Massapequa. Her last phone call was Massapequa. They had these clues prior to 2013, when lost girls was published.(Massapequa is actually mentioned a ton of times.)
Megan’s aliases -Tiffany, Jasmine, Lexi.
The marshes were full of poison ivy that would definitely be a factor for Rex or anyone else dumping a body or for Shannan running for her life.
Many of the bones were so fully decomposed that it wasn’t immediately clear if they were all female. It was speculated that either the killer cleaned the flesh off the bones or wind, rain and salt air had sped up decomposition.(never heard this before)
Joel Rifkin was interviewed after the G4 had been found. He said that technology would be what brings down this killer and he referenced Philip Haynes Markoff.
Maureen’s phone pinged at a water tower on fire island when it called her voicemail. It seems like that spot is just past the bridge to fire island. I think he was looking for his dump site. A new one? (For Maureen) Or he went there after he dumped her. Then I think he dropped her phone into the ocean….from the bridge… it makes complete sense IMO. That was July 12, 3 days after she went missing. I bet Rex had either just finished dumping her or that’s where he was headed.
Mellissa’s phone also checked her voicemail near Freeport. I was checking the map where Freeport is and if there were nearby bodies of water. There is…. Also by Mill Road. Weird coincidence, no? Some of the girls also had some signature jewelry that I bet was also dumped into a body of water.
Melissa’s mother received a phone call that part of her daughter’s remains had been found on the other side of the highway. No one ever explained exactly where or what they were or whether or if it was due to animal activity.
Melissa’s pimp received phone calls from Rex too. They were traced to a burner phone registered Mickey Mouse.
I’ve said before I think they knew him. They had met him at least once before. He had seemed ok so when he called again, there was some trust. The family’s had a get together after the bodies were found and they discussed this same thing. Some of them felt the same way…the girls wouldn’t have gone with anyone they didn’t know.
Amber’s sister said that the connection to all the girls is cocaine. Because that’s just how it is. I never considered a drug angle at all. It’s never come up with Rex, now that he’s top suspect. I feel like he might be too shy and nerdy to get coke. But…. Maybe that’s how he did continue trust once he had the girls in his house. Thoughts?
It’s possible Megan’s pimp saw Rex. He had alluded before that me may have seen Megan’s last trick, but he never said any more than that. Even when he went to prison, he kept it a secret. He may have simply been lying.

I just realized…. There are 3 dump sites. The third has never been found.

Snipped: Melissa used to run scams on John’s. Different scams for different John’s.
Wonder if she ran a scam on RH? Amber did, remember?

Wonder if any of the other victims were known to run scams? Has that ever been mentioned?

LISK certainly seems to have been obsessed with Melissa. Not only did he call her sister, but he searched out the taxi driver and threatened her. His demanding the taxi driver take him to the woods may indicate he intended to harm her, don't you think? Fortunately, she had back up from her dispatcher. The fact that he could perhaps "be made" and may even have been recorded by the dispatcher (how could RH know otherwise?) and that she wasn't a sex worker may have saved her life.

Were any of Melissa's scams detailed?

Yes. I included the scams part because of Amber. Melissa’s friend had told the stories of what they used to do. I don’t recall any specifics but I’ll go back and see and get back to you. It was only briefly mentioned but to me, that’s kind of a big deal. I was trying to watch “the killing season” because those same documentarians made a movie around the same time. But, as mentioned in the show, they cut parts of the movie down and put it into the show… but now it has very little LISK. Anyways, Melissa’s step dad was talking and he said if he knew her at all, he knows she would never go down without a fight and figured she probably pissed Rex off, thus the reason he called her sister.

Ok. So the book says that coke was always a factor. So they would pretend to do coke but sweep it away or whatnot but they would want the guy to get really messed up because that would mean it could take them hours to perform, therefore, more money. Sometimes they’d get a guy too drunk so he wouldn’t notice that he was having sex with their hand. Another scam they would do together… one would steal a debit card while the other ran and got as much money as they could off of it. Sometimes the John would willingly give them their card, and naturally, they’d take all the money. This is directly from the book, I just kinda shortened it up.

Thank you. Very interesting. From history, scamming or robbing Johns seems to have often been part of the sex working life. I'm thinking of Polly Nichols from the Jack the Ripper days, here. From today and the taxi driver's story, the woman she believed to be Melissa had apparently thwarted the John (shaped like RH) and called from the hotel bathroom. Since the John left first, then a terrified, crying Melissa (from memory) got into the cab, IF she had managed to "cheat" him, as Amber and her roommate did . . . well, our imaginations certainly fill in the blanks.

Perhaps she only thwarted him and his scary version of what he was entitled to from a sex worker. Wonder if that would have been enough to have enraged him?

We do wonder, though, don't we: of all the sws he encountered, why these victims?
