I'm rewatching the PC. At 30:11 in the recording of the livestream on the suffolk county youtube, Tierney thanks the Secret Service for their help matching a piece of paper towel found at the site where Megan Waterman was found with a "memento" matching piece at the Heuermann residence. He said it "would have been a key piece of evidence". I'm trying to remember if this was ever mentioned before? I also don't think there were many other mentions of evidence that would have featured in the trial.

My ears perked up when RT talked about the Bounty paper towel match. I don't recall it ever being mentioned. I wonder if the belt was ever linked to RH?

I'm watching what little footage is available from today. Did anyone else catch that part of the plea includes Rex fully cooperating with the FBI's behavioral analysis unit?

RT expounded on that subject in the presser. The interviews the BAU will do with RH with be clinical and not investigative.

good questions !!! can he request a "good" location like warm weather prison and be granted privileges ??? um yeah just going to be leaving that as no kitchen detail and get money in his account for snacks
I've been busy since noon, just now sitting down and want to catch up.

I'm going to look for all the press conferences given today. I know there was one given by Asa and her attorney before Rex's hearing. It looks like Tierney gave a PC.

Did anyone representing the victims and their families give a PC?

I'll watch them, then I really want to focus on what's going to happen from here. I'd also like to learn more about Karen Vergata's death:

When did Rex kill her?
How did he kill her?
Where did he kill her and when did he dispose of her body?
When does Rex's DNA go into CODIS?
Will Suffolk County and/or New York reconvene another Task Force to investigate the other unsolved violent deaths of women on Long Island?

Like the rest of you, I do think there are probably more murders that can be linked to RH.

I'd like to see Suffolk County and New York state open access to all the investigative files relating to the investigation of Rex and the murders he confessed to.

He has been a source of conspiracy theories, not based on anything rational imo nor based on any suspicions by actual authorities. It’s vile to say someone, who has been cleared by the true authorities, should be a suspect. If he had anything legitimate, he should have broached the police with his “evidence.” Heuermann’s family, are also victims of his heinous crimes and I’m sick of the victim bashing by those with no evidence whatsoever. I don’t remember BTK killer’s family being treated this way, nor Kohberger;s, etc.
People who DID approach the police with evidence were ignored by SCPD tip line, and only because of John Ray, that evidence was available.

Exactly! The ex wife, daughter and step son were confirmed away, in Iceland, Atlantic City, etc during the murders. The daughter was also a literal child for much of the time of his murderous activities. They are indeed also victims of this horrible murderer, certainly in a different way from the families of the murdered women, but victims nonetheless. People are mad but are taking their anger out on innocent parties, not solely on the man who caused all of this grief. They should be allowed to tell their stories, just as the daughter of BTK did, as a cautionary tale. They need to sustain themselves as well. The ex wife has been battling breast and skin cancer, has a developmentally disabled son and a shell shocked daughter.
And for Karen Vergata's murder?

Son was little, and daughter wasn't born. But wife?

Also, the New Jersey documentation is very questionable.

Victoria should sue him for defamation…disgusting accusations against an innocent child at that time. The authorities have stated that Shannon was not murdered and is a victim of accidental drowning. John Ray, imo, is using her family to make a name for himself.
It is the daughter's right to sue John Ray for defamation.

Shannan Gilbert has her her own thread. But it was no accident. Yes, LE declared it an accidental drowning before her body was even recovered, but it is not supported by the evidence. LE has lied about that investigation, especially about the 911 tape.

Rex confessed to killing the victims in Nassau County.

What went on in that house?

I've never heard John Ray say Heuermann's daughter was involved in the murders. He implied that she knew or suspected he had killed women in the past or was aware of things she saw at home that made it seem she knew of the murders.

JR will probably continue to be active in advocating for full investigation into the other murders. It's not an easy job, but someone has to do it. Someone has to represent the families of the victims.

Why do you think she hasn't sued him?

i am not a lawyer, but i’m wondering if part of the plea deal was RH wanting to avoid the DP. NY doesn’t have the DP, but say his DNA enters CODIS and we find many victims in states that do enforce the DP… he’ll have to serve for these crimes first in NY even if he is guilty of others in other states, correct?

just thinking out loud here

We built DNA profiles for a number of human remains cases from that area.
Thank you!!!

Were you guys following this case from the beginning, too?

Good point.

I also found it odd that, at his PC, Prosecutor Tierney stated that Rex "agreed to take responsibility" for the death of Karen Vergata. What does that mean? He didn't plead guilty? I'm still not comfortable with that part of the plea deal.

WRT possibility of Rex's DNA matching murders of women in other states, will Suffolk County cooperate? Will they allow Rex to be extradited to other states for trials?

bbm :-)

i do believe new york state has an agreement to transfer inmates to other states for trial! iirc it’s called the Interstate Agreement on Detainment (or something close!)

Revolting.

What sort of human imposter commits such evil, vile crimes? The same kind who smiles while proudly admitting he did so.

Is this the woman who had the boyfriend cop, picked Kren up and went to Rex's home? Im trying to remember. She said they went in the the house and met Heuermann and his wife. She said Karen went downstairs while the others stayed upstairs. When the women and the cop left, she said they saw Karen run outside naked near the garage. I think that's the one...isn't it??

RH didn't pay for Michael Brown.

Brown is being paid by tax dollars through the Suffolk County and New York State-funded assigned counsel program.
imo
Really? I wonder why! Is that considered legal aid? He could surely afford an attorney when he was arrested.
