I believe they found a search of "John Bittrolff" on RH's computer.

I've wondered for years if he had some acquaintanceship with Bittrolff. Both hunters out in that area, they're around the same age. Bittrolff born in '66. Heuermann's just a couple of years older, I believe. Bittrolff was a carpenter. Both have ethnic surnames, evidently both of German extraction. I'm of Irish extraction and I know there are many, many clubs and organizations for Irish-Americans, many very local in nature. Both Bittrolff & RH married with children. Maybe both members of some club, organization down the line? I'm seeing Bittrolff victim Rita Tangredi's adult daughter was close friends with Melissa Barthelemy, Source: "DNA played a pivotal role in Bittrolff’s case, eventually tying him to a third murder. PIX 11 was intrigued by an online comment posted by a young woman named Amanda... Turns out her mother, Rita Tangredi, was one of Bittrolff’s alleged victims in 1993. Seeing he/JB hunted deer and raised animals in his yard on one source.

From what I can see online, JB lived his early life over in the Mastic/Shirley area of LI and went to William Floyd High School. That's about 38 minute drive from Massapequa Park. "The distance between Massapequa and Mastic–Shirley Station is 34 miles. The road distance is 34.8 miles. The best way to get from Massapequa to Mastic–Shirley Station without a car is to train which takes 1h 59m"

Does anybody know exactly where in North Sea they are searching? I lived there fifty years and up until recently it was a very unknown back road between Southampton and Sag Harbor. When I grew up there it was the wrong side of the tracks for Southampton. In the 80s it became a back road through to sag harbor with a lot more traffic and then became gentrified.

It’s possible with this crazy case. Rex H was all over the map with crazy. If he killed Sandra Costilla, does it mean he deliberately posed her to copycat Bittrolff?

The police search of Manorville and its surrounding areas continued into a fifth day Saturday, with Suffolk County Police and New York State K-9 units searching deeper into the woodlands than they had in previous days as the Gilgo Beach investigation continues to expand to new areas.

Four Suffolk K-9 teams were spotted near the power lines west of Nugent Drive in Calverton not far from the Suffolk County Jail, where suspected Gilgo Beach killer Rex A. Heuermann has been housed since his arrest last July. New York State Police were also spotted south of the expressway again, beginning their morning in the woods east of Chapman Boulevard and County Road 111.

Twice today my hopes have been dashed. I need to curl up and lick my wounds. I'd been hoping the Manorville searching was RH connected. NOT.

Then I was hoping the identification of Patricia McGlone, formerly the Mid-Manhattan Jane Doe, might somehow tie into RH and some of the evidence pulled from his home, vehicles and/or storage units last summer. Again a big NOPE.

Wonder when we might expect to begin seeing some results from all those Heuermann searches? He was such a packrat he may have 50 years of mementoes saved back.

I’m always a little bit skeptical of the NY Post. Like the Daily Mail, they are tabloid and they get some amazing scoops but they get a lot of stuff wrong too. I trust the NBC information that you posted here more than the NY Post suddenly going, “The Manorville search moved to North Sea, and it definitely has nothing to do with Heuermann.” We heard earlier in the week that these were two separate searches (or one an "extension" of the other), and that the ongoing Manorville search was connected to Heuermann, the North Sea one to Sandra Costilla, whose body was found there. We don’t know whether they’re trying to link her to Bittrolff, Heuermann, both, or what. I’m just not willing to change up everything we know about these searches based on one NY Post article, but that’s just me.

Judging by the description of the original crime scene, Costilla’s murder seems more likely linked to Bittrolff, JMO. I think they’re just tying up loose ends in anticipation of Heuermann’s trial.

In the past, they had some incomplete investigations and it’s time to resolve them as best they can. Identify and test DNA for all, look for any evidence left behind, try to link these victims to their killers, whoever they are. That includes Shannan Gilbert.

I suspect you're exactly right. So many cases I know nothing about. It's just that so much time was spent digging through the Heuermann belongings, IF there was anything there, surely we'll be hearing about it before too much longer.

Surely there are more than four.

Maybe I am the only terrible person in the group, but I check every day for news on this case. The sad truth is that we're capitalists here, participation is involuntary. When the news is from Asa's side, I won't be able to help myself. The whole thing is despicable, I am not pretending otherwise.

I vote and advocate for more equity, but this case is my weakness. I have also paid for the documentary with the victims families. I want as much info as possible even though I am ultimately powerless. If the women he murdered were able to make a living in an socially "acceptable" way they would have. Rex is a monster, but we are all compliant.

I'm not sure why you threw capitalism under the bus. Compared to most societies our justice system is far more punitive. No system is perfect. But I'll take ours over a more lenient system that might let him out eventually. amoo
