Well at least she said she felt for the victims. That's a first...

Well, in her defense, there is no way to answer that. Like the classic 'have you stopped beating your wife'.

You knew, and you're party to it. You didn't know, and you're obviously deficient somehow. Never mind that serial killers with that social mask often very successfully compartmentalise their family life and true self from each other. Rader, Ridgway, Keyes, etc. all did.

We can have all kinds of opinions about the way she's behaved and what she's said and done since his arrest, but judging her for 'not knowing' shouldn't be one of them. Women get asked 'how could you not know' about crap men do every single day, from infidelity to child abuse to fraud to addiction, and the fact of the matter is, men lie, and men who like to lie a lot and have a secret part of their life choose as spouses women who don't ask questions or pay attention to behaviour or inconsistencies that more suspicious folks would find worrying. When he met and married her he was already a murderer. He chose her because he knew she wouldn't threaten that side of his life.

It's so inappropriate, just evil. He's enjoying it.

This report says Heuermann allegedly confessed to spare his family

Michael Brown outlined a series of events that led Heuermann to plead guilty. Prosecutors had damning DNA evidence, he said, and Brown had spoken to Heuermann about sparing the loved ones of the victims from having to endure a lurid trial. Brown said Heuermann was motivated by “saving his family from that ordeal,” as well.

I just saw her attorney said that...That is an absolutely ridiculous way to respond. That makes AE look worse not better!
Her attorney has made her look worse from go.

Before he stepped in, neighbors sent care packages, Uber Eats cards, and were immensely supportive.

Her attorney put a few dollars in her pocket, a few more than that in his own, and destroyed her reputation.

I've waited 16 years for this day. I thought I would feel relief or elation or something. All I feel is the same horror and disbelief I've felt for 16 years.

They should have a picture of Karen, not Shannan. It's misleading.
Exactly!
Because of that I clicked on it, only to find what you did. Very misleading.

He’s such a detestable, despicable person. Makes my stomach churn to see the photos of his poor, innocent victims, beautiful young women with their whole lives ahead of them. 💔

I wish we could have full clarity on his crimes because surely he committed more. I’m glad we have confirmation of Karen now though, RIP.

CBS has live coverage now with attorney for RH.....saw a couple of in court pix....sweet Jesus was RH smirking ???
Yup. And that smirk was why the last thing I saw coming was a plea deal.

He likes this.

It appears he is forgoing the trial to protect his wife's assets.

I still think he's responsible for Jamie Seymour.

He mentioned dumpsters in his planning document, and I wonder if he used one for her, and that's why she's never been found. Her appearance, her time of disappearance (time of year and interval between known killings), her working at Port Authority, it all lines up with others he killed.

I also think he killed Asian Doe but would never admit to it because he's homophobic/transphobic and possibly racist, despite his web history showing he's got broad tastes of age, gender and ethnicity.

I hope his being added into CODIS solves other cases outside of New York. I really want a proper search of that other property he owns out of state.

Hopefully Tierney says that they are still investigating Asian Doe and if any hits to RH through CODIS and/or any other evidence from any other victim connect to him that he will be charged.
imo

I feel very foolish. In the beginning I put money in her g o f u n d m e account. I can't believe we were duped. 😔

BBM

Good luck with that. John Ray is coming after his family to get those assets for the victims families, as he should.

Has anyone seen Gloria Allred?

Or he is going to be nice to them to keep getting money. I really don't believe someone who did what he did is motivated to spare anyone's feelings.

No charges for the murder of Karen Vergata? How devestating for her family.
And papers still print lies about her departed and surviving family. Just because LE does not respond by appropriately acknowledging someone is missing does not mean a person was not reported missing.

That is perhaps petty in the number of things that happened to these victims, but I'm tired of these families who LOVED the murder victims get unfairly accused of not reporting them missing.

Can someone ELI5 what benefit Rex gets from the deal, aside from just avoiding trial? The state saves money by not having to prosecute, I get that, but what does he get out of having three LWOP sentences and not eight?
My theory is his family preserves assets by not exposing details that will strengthen civil suits. You can't divorce just to shuttle assets from someone who might be owed them. So, talk of a persons innocence is quite irrelevant if the assets they hold belonged to the guilty party and were fraudulently transferred in a friendly divorce, where, say, the formally married person declared their love for the spouse they divorced on a reality tv show.

Those assets are vulnerable, and I predict Rex's interest was to not give new information that was not already in the charging documents.

Also, there are now no charging documents for Karen Vergata, who may have been killed while Asa was in the home. Macedonia partially confirmed her presence by saying she had a medical condition at the time and would not have wanted sex. The indictment for Karen would likely have strengthened John Ray's civil work.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> ...Besides, anything Rex fraudulently transferred to her can be sued for, regardless.
