That IMO is an interesting development. I wonder if the ‘water temperature’ for that initial deal changed or proved too hot to handle? IMO the whole deal as earlier announced just seemed inappropriate. Profiting in the wake of multiple women and girl’s deaths. IIRC there was also an awful lot of complaining for investigators having ‘wrecked’ the residence. That also in the presence of multiple homicides and deaths. SMH.

And I know it has been debated at length, but it still doesn’t seem entirely clear how the wife or family could be in attendance during court proceedings ……. if they might ultimately be called or placed as witnesses (for either the prosecution or defense). IMO there are often cases where possible future witnesses are removed from the courtroom for reasons related to their testimony, other’s testimony, and evidence. MOO
This is an older article.

Good point. Maybe she felt free to leave if some deal was in the works. I've always wondered if she hired attorneys and stuck around because she might also be charged for helping with one of the other murders.
IMO:
It was/is a case of:
"Keep your enemies closer."

Michael Brown met RH on 7/13/23 the day after RH was arrested and contacted Bob Macedonio, his prior law partner who contacted AE and she hired Macedonio that weekend.
IIRC: Macedonio said he was retained by AE on Saturday which would have been 7/15/23.

#Breaking Office of ⁦@RayTierneyDA⁩ of Suffolk County says there’s a significant development in the #GilgoBeach serial killer investigation. The DA is holding a press conference with the police commissioner after #RexHeuermann appears in court Tuesday.

My gut says Valerie Mack. Hes been named as a suspect, him being charged seems like the next logical step
Yea I think so too but she’s a hard one. She died a long time ago so I doubt there are still phone records. I doubt there is DNA because half of her was skeletal, half was decomposing for a while in plastic bags. But…. I always go back to the bail doc… of Rex’s docs where he said destroy all pictures. I wonder if they got a hit on something in the house. A swab? A memory card? A phone? Or… it’s someone else we aren’t expecting.

I wanted to back-up my comments with a link on when Macedonio was retained by AE.

Hmmm maybe she does know something. I still don’t think a plea deal but maybe they pulled something incriminating from the house that has convinced her…

RHs earliest known victim died in 1993. So i don't think phone records will be needed to charge him

Dna was able to be extracted from hair found on Maureen. I believe she was out there much longer than Val was

Tierney's presser is scheduled for after RH's court appearance.
It could go either way..plea deal or a new indictment.
A big presser would warrant both.

IMO:
Rex's lawyer Michael Brown immediately got in touch with his old law partner Macedonio to try and retain AE and the rest is history.
The most dangerous enemy can be the spouse of a defendant.

These private practice criminal lawyers are damn expensive and yet Macedonio took her on as a client and she was broke because he's a nice guy?

I believe there's been back-channel communication between Brown and Macedonio all along on how to keep AE in check.

Tomorrow should be big news because all these top men from different Suffolk County departments have much better things to do then showing up for just a photo-op.
I assume they will all be taking questions from reporters..about someone.

Here we go, looks like a big clue?

"Investigators have been seeking to tie Mr. Heuermann to a DNA profile of Ms. Mack, whose relatives indicated in recent days that the Suffolk authorities had been in touch with them.

“We’re just processing so many emotions right now,” her father, Edwin Mack, said by phone last week from his southern New Jersey home, adding that he was unsure whether he would attend the Tuesday hearing.'

IMO:
If Brown is to be believed then it appears that a plea deal will not be forthcoming.

"Gloria Allred, a lawyer who represents relatives of several victims and has appeared at past indictments, said that she would be at the courthouse, but would not elaborate on why.

The district attorney, Ray Tierney, did not respond to requests for comment. Mr. Heuermann’s lawyer, Michael J. Brown, said he had not been told what the new development was."

Valerie Mack's family has been contacted but I haven't heard anything about Karen Vergata's family.

"The three still unidentified Gilgo victims include the Asian man; a woman referred to as Peaches because of a tattoo; and her toddler daughter, who was found wrapped in a blanket, wearing gold jewelry and bearing no signs of trauma."

I haven't found any reporting saying that monies were unfrozen or not.

Cash-strapped DA pleads with feds to free up $13M ...

Oct 16, 2024 — Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney says the DOJ froze $13 million in county money in 2020 — but he needs it now to prosecute accused Gilgo Beach ..

for,

It’s currently unclear what the significant development will be – while charges for the murder of Mack are possible,

investigators have also taken steps towards identifying other victims,

Another possibility is charges for the murder of “Fire Island Jane Doe” Karen Vergata, whose remains were found on Fire Island in 1996 and on Tobay Beach in 2011.

"Valerie Mack was a little bit further into the woods compared to the other Gilgo Beach victims," according to Tierney.

Mack's body along with Costilla and Taylor's are mentioned in the new court documents to "largely coincide" with the violent, bondage and torture 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 that Heuermann collected dating back to 1994.

The 24-year-old was also found in one of the "dump sites" Heuermann mentioned in a Microsoft Word document called "HK2002-04," which seems to be Heuermann's "planning document," according to court documents. It was found on one of the laptops that was part of the numerous items Suffolk County Police Department recovered from Heuermann's home and business.
