Gilgo Beach LISK Serial Killer, Rex Heuermann, charged with 7 murders, July 2023 #16

I wanted to see the words straight from the horse's mouth.

"He has said he is not guilty of these charges. The more I review and the more I inspect what the prosecutor has, it leads me to believe he's not the guy," defense attorney Michael Brown said".

In all cases, but especially in heinous ones like this, and super especially when the evidence seems overwhelming, I remind myself the defense's role is not so much about innocence of the defendant, but about forcing the government (the prosecutor) to PROVE guilt. It's a very important role!

The rule of law requires proof beyond reasonable doubt. Not feelings or hunches or "oh, come on, we all know he did it." And the proof needs to be gathered and presented absolutely within the law, with no flub ups.

I know I'm preaching to the choir and we all know that. I don't mean to be condescending in the slightest, and I need to remind myself sometimes. It's about the prosecution more than the defense. That's why I keep saying, "Bring it on," because I'm confident the prosecutors have the evidence it takes to convict this guy. Whatever tactic the defense has, bring it on.

This is a good system - we certainly don't want people to lose their liberty without proof. (And this guy will lose his liberty, imo.)

Judge Timothy Mazzei WILL allow nuclear #DNA to be used as evidence against accused #GilgoBeach serial killer #RexHeuermann.

Asa Ellerup, ex-wife of accused #GilgoBeach serial killer, arrives at Suffolk County, NY court for decision on #DNA evidence before #RexHeuermann’s upcoming trial.

She looks like such a victim, not having her own voice, eyes closed shut, poor soul. These people are a piece of work.

We, in Australia, called this back in Dec 2024 (previous thread) - yes to the DNA evidence.

DNA is a slam dunk for this case - bravo NYC for finally getting onboard !

RH can lie & deny all he likes - but, DNA and science don't lie :)

I wonder if we have celebrated too soon about the DNA being allowed for trial. From listening to Michael J. Brown's explanation of the public health motion that Brown says limits evidence to in-state labs and since Astrea is not in New York it is actually criminal to use it. As I understood him. Are there any attorneys here from New York who can clarify this for us?

Not a lawyer but merely a bioinformatician here.
I would not be concerned. There are many ways of establishing the probability of the hair belonging to someone other than RH.

It’s very naive to think we wouldn’t be 20 years behind when it comes to scientific level at trial if only science thats been around for 20 years would be accepted.

It is so important for the prosecutors of high profile cases to take on these battles. It is just ridiculous that sks walk around unscathed because few people can be bothered to actually understand science.

This will save lives. The lives of future sk victims.

Well then....his inspection must have been lazy.

well it's a beach..people lose items of clothing..people don't generally lose their purses and not report them..but the fact is it's women's clothing and there are no mens items in the mix which makes me suss...also buried 2 feet down..hmmm..this is indeed very interesting and I think no matter what happens with the Jones Beach stash..we are going to find out about Rex and we are going to find more victims for sure. mOO

you guys,

Police sources said the clothing was from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The items were buried two feet deep.

The items included rayon mini-skirts, shorts, pants and shirts, some with their buttons popped off — suggesting the clothing may have been torn off or forced open, sources said.

The east bathhouse near where these clothes were found is about 6.5-7 miles from the Gilgo Beach 4.

its about 1.2 miles from where Tanya Jackson was found on the parkway.

This has the potential to be really important.

I mean, even if it's not able to be linked to RH, there is absolutely no innocuous interpretation I can think of. It's a stash of trophies for someone.

And a bloody glove hidden the the employees beach shack. It will be interesting to see what decade that dates to.

And it's not very clear if these items were all in one clump or scattered a bit to a bigger area?
