<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

1. I don't have time to link all of the posts and the trains of thought throughout this thread but....quick google searches and on here
Totally agree, Asa knew! That downstairs room, no one let in. Rex’s personality, busy with his “own activities” while family was on vacation elsewhere. I think, even the daughter knew. I don’t understand why Asa and daughter were not investigated more. The son, maybe did not know because of disability.

Anyway, good if Rex will plea out, LWOP. JMO

1. One link to him saying this there are more Attorney: Evidence exists of Rex Heuermann’s family’s involvement in Gilgo Beach murders case - he is making an implication that can be walked back - obviously she wasn't involved she was a child! But others have pointed out that he has been the only one keeping focus on the case and theorizing that he may be a big reason why RH was even arrested (which I then said maybe he is doing this for reasons he considers to be virtuous or for a greater good but it means I don't accept his implications at face value is all)

"Rex Heuermann’s daughter Victoria

When asked if he thought Heuermann's daughter had anything to do with the alleged murders, Ray said "We can infer from this, and it's not the only inference, but it's a very strong inference, that this girl was made over the course of years, somehow, to become accustomed to liking what you see here," (referring to the disturbing images). Attorney: Evidence exists of Rex Heuermann’s family’s involvement in Gilgo Beach murders case

"That happened because somebody did something," Ray added.

"She certainly falls within the circle of suspicion."'

Another link saying her hair on a body wasn't necessarily transferred by RH. Chilling Details Revealed About Rex Heuermann's daughter

2. There are numerous dead links now including twitter statements from the family of Jessica Taylor and a hand written note in Aug 2024 saying he doesn't represent them. I tried to link some statements from earlier threads at that time expressing confusion as to why he was saying he represented her when Gloria Allred came out to say she did, but am having trouble doing so. A search reflects it
3. LE has stated they do not believe the family was involved. I truly don't understand why this needs a link as this has been accepted as basic and known. I would think a link would be needed to prove that LE thinks they were involved The links to the press conferences are very old ...but I am sifting through google and found a few articles https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/20/us/gilgo-beach-serial-killings-rex-heuermann-house https://people.com/rex-heuermann-ar.../long-island-police-reveal-rex-194303450.html

My posts were simply saying that I don't accept at face value all that is stated by John Ray as some of his statements do not seem sensical and have not always been in alignment with the truth. Some have made statements which caused me to say perhaps he engages in making these salacious but not sensical statements for what he perceives to be a greater good - to keep the focus and pressure on as a way of being deferential.

Correct which is basically what I said I understand how he may have been good at keeping the focus on this case, however I don't consider all of is narratives to be reliable on their face as there have been instances as described where they were either demonstrably not sensical or false, perhaps in his mind for the greater good of keeping the focus on the case..That means when something more setaceous is proffered as coming from him as a the source - I am hesitant to take it at face value as true as he has a history of not always pushing truthful or sensical narratives, even if it was for the purpose of what he considered to be the greater good
He's not the one getting six figures from Peacock, though.

John Ray undoubtedly remembers the resistance he was met with as he pursued the truth on Shannan Gilbert. He essentially had to scream bloody murder to get her 911 call released. It's to his great credit that he did.
John Ray has had to go after things that possibly would remain concealed forever, if others had their way. Gary Brucato was also at that press conference that has been so controversial. I respect greatly both John Ray and Gary Brucato. Maybe every single thing done that day wasn't as it should have been done, or how I'd have done it personally. But there are concerns about the way AE has acted in terms of the entire situation. I personally continue to think she was as deceived as everyone else was where RH was concerned.

JMO, John Ray is a hero in these cases. I think hairs at the scene were normal transfer, and those living in the house with RH were played just like everyone else. They have suffered greatly But his victims-- their very lives are gone.

I agree that he kept focus on the case. I am however saying that statements like these which are clearly implying some things that don't seem sensical or true are why I don't take everything he says at face value. I have said speculatively since so many feels he has done so much good that perhaps he makes these implications/statements as a way to keep pressure or focus on the case (ie a greater good). But it doesn't mean I take everything he says or implies to be absolutely true. That's really the full extent of what I am saying...

Family members of women whose remains were found near Gilgo Beach have been notified that alleged serial killer Rex A. Heuermann is expected to plead guilty next month, relatives told Newsday.

The Massapequa Park architect, accused of killing seven women in a case that has haunted Long Island for more than a decade, is expected to change his plea during a scheduled appearance April 8, the family members said. Details of the expected plea agreement have not been disclosed and the deal could still fall through for a range of reasons, including second thoughts by Heuermann and the prosecutor. The judge could also refuse to sign off

Fingers crossed this is it. It will be the best thing for bringing some closure to the victim's families so they can move on to next steps. Also hopefully this means his DNA gets registered in CODIS so that other cases, if they are there, can be solved. Hopefully he needs to allocute more then Bryan Kobherger did.

Was the same lady who said they picked up a sex worker who had just been released from jail and took her with them to RH's home? And when they were leaving, they just left her there?
I was left totally baffled by LP as a witness for JR.
Reading her affidavit gave much to ponder but then seeing her in an interview raised my eyebrows.
I didn't know what to think then scrolling all the way down and reading the comments on Banfield's video I saw that I was not alone.
imo

John Ray is one of a few people that kept at Suffolk County to make sure this case was investigated.

He has a great deal of credibility; there are no facts he has brought to light that are not true.

There are witnesses that were ignored by the tip line that he has platformed.

His opinions have offended-but his investigations have saved the day. I think without John Ray, there would be no Rex Heuermann arrest.

MOO
I agree that w/o JR there wouldn't have been a RH arrest no less a possible conviction.
I like JR but was greatly disappointed in how he presented his advertised symposium in Jan 2024,horrible videoing from a far distance and lack of sound.
It was a waste of time and money.
He also didn't vet and prep his star witness LP for the symposium and her interviews that followed.
He should have gotten all the ducks in a row and interviewed her and left it at that.

Then came JR's VH presser which was a disaster.

He had the info he wanted to present, art works and the book "Death Scenes: A Homicide Detective’s Scrapbook," it's a collection of strange and gruesome crime scene photos taken by California detective Jack Huddleston that LE seized, then returned to the Heuerman's house and it was placed on the kitchen table.
How AE and/or VH could keep this book no less have it on the kitchen table is mind-blowing.

JR's delivery and mostly veiled accusations cost him dearly in the legal/crime world.
He's back now and hopefully he's gotten his act together as this case goes forward.

I'm alarmed by the art the daughter allegedly made or shared:

If this really is her Tumblr, this is very very strange to say the least.
I think his whole family is strange. Alot of people are into this type of art (not me!!) and the macabre but I don't think it means she is involved or complicit in her fathers crimes. I tend to extend a bit of grace benefit of the doubt to her/the family even if they are odd, b/c what the daughter is going through in terms of public ostracization + learning her father who she seems to recount having a loving relationship with is beyond freaky and a serial killer, cant be anything but traumatizing.

In the article, there are also quotes of her saying that death and sex are related (I'm paraphrasing as what she is says is quite strong..) and referring to different body mutilation tools as sex toys.
There is art showing breast mutilation on a tied victim etc.
Imo this is going beyond just appreciating art.
ETA: This might be a stretch, but is the plea being done in order to stop LE from looking into the family further?

She was a child - he is a serial killer - I highly doubt he cares that much about protecting other people. JMO

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that kind of art either, but to be perfectly honest, if I saw those images and didn't know who had posted/re-posted them, I wouldn't think much of it, other than possibly feeling concerned for that person's mental health. There's a lot of that stuff on Tumblr, usually (based on my own observations) posted by severely traumatised young women who see the imagery of mutilated bodies as a visual representation of the psychological brutalisation they've experienced. It's generally a metaphorical (or sadly, in some cases, literal) expression of what's been done to them, rather than some kind of fantasy about doing those things to others. But again, this is just my opinion based on the weird Tumblr rabbit holes I occasionally went down as an angsty 14-year-old, so YMMV

I think a mental split takes place when people live inside denial. there is the wishful and optimistic unknowing place where as long as you don't dwell in the house of maybes, you can go along and cook the dinner and go to the store and sleep at night secure and knowing there is a roof over your head, shooing away the crazy background noise.

then there come the moments of clarity...the moments you admit something is wrong, or admitting you know..the moments you play games with yourself to get back to the bubble of making that dinner and doing that laundry.

it's pure disassociation.. it's a state of suspended reality. she may have guilty knowledge. the house was total chaos and I feel like they were deteriorating as a family, the state of the home, the living situation of Rex spending all their money on guns and sex workers...living like hoarders in that tiny house all together. mOO

Thank you for posting your sources. I haven't delved into the implications about the daughter because I can't get past the incredibly disturbing artwork that JR brought to light. To me, they are the kind of drawings by a person whose view of life is highly distorted and grotesque. But I have zero interest in the daughter. I don't find JR's statements non-sensical myself. I respect him tremendously for all of his efforts to get the truth out there. He is getting up in years now and has been working these cases for decades. It seems it has become his lifelong work to see justice for these poor women, the victims. Out of all the attorneys and talking heads in the Gilgo Beach case, John Ray is my absolute favorite who I deeply respect for his values, and for trying to move this case forward, despite all the obstacles he has encountered. He's an old school eccentric who may not get everything right, but he has tried hard to bring issues to light. MOO

Well, first of all, AB kept cutting her off when she was trying to describe what occurred. Secondly, this occurred in 1996 I believe and that is 30 years ago. She is 30 years older, being interviewed by a very abrupt woman, and I get the sense she needed more time to put her thoughts to words. She also may have been on medication which slows down a person's train of thought. I believe her!

What is behind the removal of that inner hedge and that small enclosed porch area?

Striking comparison from 2001 to 2024(?)

That said, I’ve personally seen a similar thing happen to a relative’s house, for non-creepy reasons.

The hedges (in my relative’s case) were azaleas, and they can get quite tall. Grew up very close to a wood-framed sun porch, and over the years that led to rotting wood, panes of glass falling out, etc. (I heard this was primarily due to the azaleas trapping moisture against the wood.). The only thing for it was to tear everything out.

Once that was done, the will and/or money to rebuild disappeared, and she was left with something very similar to Rex’s, although hers was a back porch, not front. Possibly for him it was a ‘I’m totally gonna get around to that one of these days”, kinda thing, which of course never came.

Great question, but can she be called as a witness to her own father? How does that work?

Yes I don't believe there is a parent child privilege. I personally don't believe the household was my version of normal or functional...ETA hopefully he just pleads guilty and ends this chapter for his victims and everyone else.

Source: https://www.newsnationnow.com/crime/gilgo-beach-killings/timeline-rex-heuermann-gilgo-beach/

RH was born Sep 13, 1963. His first known victim was in Nov 1993. Rex was 30 years old. And his last known murder was in 2010, when he would have been age 47. Police said he was about to strike again in 2023. I think he murdered so many more. Here are his known victims to date.

Death of Sandra Costilla

Nov. 19, 1993: Sandra Costilla disappears in New York.

Nov. 20, 1993: Costilla’s body is found in a wooded area about 60 miles from Gilgo Beach.

Death of Valerie Mack

Nov. 19, 2000: Partial remains belonging to Valerie Mack are found in Manorville, New York. In 2011, more of Mack’s remains were found at Gilgo Beach.

In 2020, forensic genealogy was used to identify her.

Death of Jessica Taylor

July 21, 2003: Jessica Taylor is last seen at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.

July 26, 2003: Jessica Taylor’s remains are found in Manorville, New York.

Maureen Brainard-Barnes disappears

July 9, 2007: Maureen Brianard-Barnes is last seen in a hotel in Manhattan. The 25-year-old had traveled there from Norwich, Connecticut, to see a client she had met on Craigslist. She was reported missing several days later.

The mother of two was a sex worker who advertised on Craigslist and Backpages and usually went with a female friend to call for safety. The weekend she disappeared, the friend had left early and returned home ahead of Brainard-Barnes.

Melissa Barthelemy disappears

July 12, 2009: Melissa Barthelemy is last seen in New York City, outside her apartment. Barthelemy, 24, was headed for a $1,000 date the next night with a client on Long Island. After she disappeared, her sister received calls from a man who used Barthelemy’s phone and said he had killed her.

Barthelemy had moved to New York with dreams of becoming a hairdresser. She eventually began working as an exotic dancer and eventually as an escort, something her family speculated she did to make ends meet.

Shannan Gilbert disappears

May 1, 2010: While Heuermann is not charged with Gilbert’s death, it was her disappearance that would lead to the discovery of all the remains. Gilbert, 23, called 911 saying people were trying to kill her after leaving a client’s house. She was also seen banging on doors yelling for help.

Megan Waterman disappears

June 6, 2010: Megan Waterman, 22, was staying at a hotel in Hauppauge, New York, and was last seen walking toward a nearby convenience store.

Police described Waterman as a victim of sex trafficking, and her family said the single mother had been taken to New York by her boyfriend.

Amber Lynn Costello disappears

Sept. 2, 2010: Amber Lynn Costello, 27, was last seen by her roommate as she left for a date with a client who offered her $1,500 for a date. The client had reportedly called three or four times, asking for a date with her.

Costello had previously struggled with drug use before going to rehab. Her male housemate often went with her on outcalls for safety.

Melissa Barthelemy’s remains found

Dec. 11, 2010: Investigators searching for Shannan Gilbert find the first set of remains along Gilgo Beach. The skeletal remains are eventually identified as Melissa Barthelemy.

Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Lynn Costello, Megan Waterman’s remains found

Dec. 13, 2010: In the continuing search for Gilbert, three sets of remains are found not far from Barthelemy. They are eventually identified as Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Lynn Costello and Megan Waterman. Police would continue to search the beach into 2011, finding several additional sets of remains, which have not been officially linked to Heuermann.

Rex Heuermann charged with deaths of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla

June 6, 2024: The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office filed additional second-degree murder charges against Heuermann in connection with the deaths of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.

Taylor, 20, went missing in 2003 while working as an escort in New York City. Some of her remains were discovered in Manorville that year, and more were found by the side of Ocean Parkway. The body of 28-year-old Costilla was discovered in 1993.
