And see what ? The house was in a disarray. The locked room downstairs had a combination and had all the guns etc..did they even have access? His wife appeared devoted and subservient and possibly not all there cognitively. His kid said she hadn't been in the room. She was a bit off herself, was close to her father it seems, and appears to be socially awkward herself. Who is going to be wandering in and breaking into what looked like a locked safe? I know people may disagree with me but I do believe if the wife was involved LE wouldn't let it go and I believe in giving some grace. Is this a weird family? IMO yes..but complicit/involved in him being a serial killer...I can't go there without proof imo. It's just me. I truly believe LE would have done more of a deep dive in the wife if they had an inkling she could have been party to this. And I do think that one attorney going after his daughter is just not ok but I think he has been pointed out to be problematic for other reasons.
I haven't looked at the evidence in this case for some time, so I will say this is MOO and I apologize if I get some details mixed up.
It wasn't just what was found in his locked room, which I believe mostly held his munition collection and possibly some souvenirs of his crimes. But It was reported there were clues to his deviant nature lying all around the home, such as magazines and newspapers with articles about each of the killings and even a book of crime scene photos found on the kitchen table. I don't know how devoted she was or if she was merely resigned to accept the life he provided her. "It is what it is."
IMO it wasn't just a matter of seeing something, but also hearing noises, smelling other women's scents in the home or on him, or even the smell of blood/death, or did he ever give her gifts that had belonged to these women like jewelry that might have seemed odd to her. It's not about her "being involved". She says she knew absolutely nothing about any of this - and she hasn't been charged. So be it. It is what it is.

This article appears to be paywalled - I can't access it :(
My apologies. It basically quotes several well-known defense attorneys from NY about what might be included in any plea deal. They all basically said the same thing: He will have to serve life, period. The case is too well known by the public. People were also frustrated by how long it took LE to catch him. There's not much Tierny will give him.

Then there was the comment by attorney John Ray, who put so much effort into getting these murders solved. He said he knows its good for Rex to plead guilty, but he'd like to see a trial. It's the only way to get full information about the murders and the investigation.

The quote above from a woman reporter for Newsday is mysterious. She hints there was a lot of "work" done on this deal.

She doesn't seem to be the most perceptive imo and my understanding is the house was cluttered (at best) and dirty and based on their teeth, hygiene seemed to not be top priorty imo. I'm not sure other scents would stand out, jewelry or odd books in a house of clutter...And I think they are all a bit weird and she seems to not be totally cognitively all there imo...when you hear the son with cognitive issues speak she doesn't sound that much different imo. There are multiple people who have lived with someone who has another life and I don't see her personality type really picking up on the signs, when others haven't eiter. And a child who has only lived there? I don't think it is likely based on what we know that the daughter would have jumped to such a conclusion. Again jmo....and my benefit of the doubt goes back also to LE - I really don't think they would let the wife off if they in any way thought there was complicity or involvement. They were pretty clear they don't feel she is implicated.

Thanks for the summary :)

I'm going to wait and see. Rex isn't due in court until April 8, IIRC. Maybe there will be some "leaks" with more details.

I recall one of the women who signed a deposition for John Ray said that when she and her boyfriend (an NYC cop) first met Rex, he and his wife were both members of the "swingers" club in Manhattan. When they attended a swinger party at Heuermann's house some time later, Asa was present and pregnant, so not participating. According to that woman, Asa knew of Rex's swinging with other couples and participated, too. If that statement is accurate, it means Asa knew of her husband's kinky sex habits with other women, so she had to know something was up in his basement room with the door locked.

Another woman sex worker who submitted a deposition for John Ray claimed that Rex took her to his home, to his basement room for sex and that his wife was at home at the time.

I could be thinking of someone different but is John Ray the attorney who has had some conflict with the victim families and also claims the daughter who was a little child was involved? If so I don't give much credence. That being said she does seem off and I have no idea what their bedroom behavior (yuck) was like nor do I want to think about that other then she probably sought to make him happy as she seems quite blindly devoted.

JMO, but once they put his DNA in CODIS, I’d be very interested in knowing if there’s other unsolved cases he might be involved in. It would be very unusual for a serial killer to start killing so late in their life. I’m willing to bet there’s other victims. JMO

This will be very valuable now and in the future I think/hope.

I think John Ray is a reputable attorney who has done a great deal to keep the investigation of the LISK murders active.

He may have misjudged the demeanor and comments of Rex’s daughter, but he’s an attorney with a very good reputation. He often takes cases other attorneys won’t. That’s how he became involved in the LISK murders - representing the families of the sex workers who disappeared and met with foul play. It’s why he has the trust of women who work in that profession. After Rex’s arrest, Mr. Ray reached out to the community to seek information any women might have about interactions with Rex Heuermann.

Quite a few women came forward with stories of having encountered him. Ray questioned them carefully, verified details and asked them to sign affidavits. He convinced some of them to agree to testify in court. Some were sex workers, another was a cab driver and another was a former member of a “swinger’s “ club in Manhattan. Their stories about meeting Heuermann were compelling. Due to his size and appearance, he was recognizable.

So, yes, I believe the woman who told of attending a swinger’s party at Rex’s home. Perhaps you should read those accounts.

I have heard these claims - they may or may not be true - I have no idea as to what they did in their bedroom however based on her demeaner I wouldn't be surprised to hear she did whatever she thought made him happy as she seemed very devoted to him and just off. However when I look John Ray up he is not without controversy and seems to say things to get camera attention (maybe as a way to generate publicity possibly for good reasons). IIRC one of the victims families (Jessica Taylor) had to publicly state he was not representing them when he said he was. Also the things he said about the child, for purposes of generating attention I presume, makes me skeptical when he also casts doubt on the wife. So that is more what I am getting at - did they engaging in three-somes or swinging? Maybe or maybe not but even still I doubt most people would think their husband is a serial killer. LE also has no reason or motivation to protect her if she was involved and she has no influence to get such a special favor and IIRC LE was specific that she wasn't. So it seems to me he is saying some proactive things for what he may consider to be the greater good (keep the focus/get attention) but I do think it is unethical to accuse people especially someone who was a child when these murders were committed and who is going through something very confusing/traumatic of being a part of this. That is all am I saying.

Was the same lady who said they picked up a sex worker who had just been released from jail and took her with them to RH's home? And when they were leaving, they just left her there?

That’s a bit unfair to Ray. He wanted to ”out” the family’s macabre aesthetic tastes. He didn’t mean the toddler did it. You can say what you want about him but he is not a stupid man.

Just makes me ill to think of people behaving like this, but it's part of what we call humanity.

Your mention of the bathroom caused me to remember something.
Tierney had said that the public only knows of a small percentage of the evidence they have.
He could have evidence from the bathroom and god knows where else from the house.
imo
In the Peacock documentary Asa was moaning that they took away the bathroom door, the same bathroom that he redid when she was away so perhaps the door was the only thing he didn’t replace. Perhaps he didn’t think he needed to (spoiler- it would seem he was wrong about that!)

Such an interesting thought. These people don’t clean much, if Melissa used her savvy mind to hide from him she may have touched unusual areas in the bathroom.

John Ray is one of a few people that kept at Suffolk County to make sure this case was investigated.

He has a great deal of credibility; there are no facts he has brought to light that are not true.

There are witnesses that were ignored by the tip line that he has platformed.

His opinions have offended-but his investigations have saved the day. I think without John Ray, there would be no Rex Heuermann arrest.
