They're going to do phone work on everybody involved, talk to any witnesses, and they've got some great leads,” the agent further said.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey Provides an Update on Missing Teen Giovanni Pelletier

Sheriff Ivey is very clear in his statement that there is no evidence Giovanni made it to Mims. From the Facebook post in post #82

‘As I shared with the media, it is important to know that from the onset of this investigation there has been absolutely no evidence or indication that Giovanni Pelletier ever came to Brevard County!! In fact, just the opposite, as all current evidence in the case demonstrates Giovanni never left the west coast of Florida and never came to Brevard County!!

Please know, that if that were to change in any capacity at any moment, our team would immediately commit every available resource we have to search for Giovanni in any area possible, but at this time no evidence indicates he ever came to Brevard!!’

Interestingly, he also says the three young men are complying, and that the vehicle was given over willingly by another relative.

But HOW did things go wrong in such a short time? They had just picked him up and instead of maybe playing some music and chatting to get to know each other, they are smoking (?) within 20 minutes?

How old are the cousins?

From a parental point-of-view, they were supposed to be taking care of their "new" cousin and getting to know him and introduce him to relatives, not immediately introduce him to danger.
My opinion about what it sounds like happened.

This is so sad. And I was reading about it here on WS for a while before realizing he is from my local area. I have a boy his age too. My heart hurts for his family.

Just a thought...
He called his mom within 30 mins of leaving. Something spooked him. Maybe the cousins kept him but tossed his phone and backpack along the route to make it look like that's where he got out. (How far away from his pick up location?) Made up the story about the altercation and where they left him - called his mom to sell the story of an altercation and leaving him on the side of the road, and also called the Grandfather to tell him the same story. (How long later did they arrive back home?) They could have done something to him at any point during their drive back home. He could be anywhere. Maybe Giovani's father did something against that side of the family to get him put in prison. Maybe this was payback. I hope I'm wrong.
If they would have dropped him on the road side it seems that he would have had time to call his Mom rather than text. A quick text seems more like a last minute trying to get a message out.

I feel like every time a missing person reportedly "got in a fight" and "got let out of the car and vanished" its the excuse for being the last one to see them.
Did he get out of the car without his phone and backpack. And the cousins took off not knowing they were still in the car, and then just threw them out down the road. Maybe he was having a bad reaction to the marijuana and got real
"He was picked up around 1:30 a.m. by individuals from his father’s side of the family - people he had never met in person, only spoken to by phone.
During the drive north on I-75, an argument reportedly occurred. Giovanni exited the vehicle near State Road 70 in Manatee County and has not been seen since.
Shortly after, at 1:51 a.m., Giovanni sent his mother a chilling text that simply read:
“Help me mom. Quoted from the first post that's 21 mins difference now I'm more baffled
and where was the backpack & cell phone located?

Law enforcement experts say the part of the story from his cousins about Gio's alleged erratic behavior isn't adding up.

"Adding that he pulled a knife on us and then he's the one texting help, I need help, that story's not going to stand up," Brostrom said.

And he says one way or another, the truth will come out.

The body had been found not far from where the backpack was located.

The body was found in a retention pond at the southbound off-ramp of Interstate 75 and SR 70.

This family is in all my prayers.
Thats pretty scary that they are bringing a knife into the scene now

When do they expect to identify the person who was found?

Maybe pcp or something. The thought of that Is really scary and sad but I guess it could definately be a possibility & if that is the the case, then isn’t the substance considered the cause of the death? ...

Cannabis Induced Mental Illness
Psychosis can be triggered first use, prolonged use, high doses

Marijuana laws in Florida
Cannabis for recreational use is illegal in Florida
This means these underage cousins egot pot from someone with a medical use card.
Do they have dispensaries in Florida? Where do people with med cards go?

OR Did they buy it second hand with no knowledge of its origins?
Was it laced? Enhanced?

Mental illness? He took his belongings? Or did the throw them out?

Why did they leave him?
They are underage, were in possession of a controlled substance, did not know him well.
They panicked
Did the cousins send the text on his phone- thinking his mom would be able to track his location.

If he is in the pond? Hmm, I have never seen a person having a psychotic episode- I don’t know
Reports are saying the body is in a pond near his belongings??

Hoping he is still out there alive, and that body is decomposed- so that is why they have not quickly identified it as him. How hard could it be to ID him if he simply drowned a week ago?

Worrisome, what a senseless situation
IMO

I keep seeing that the cousins are changing their stories, but all the stories I've read about could be true. They smoke weed, he has a bad reaction, gets combative (Paranoia), maybe even pulls a knife (?). They put him out of the car. He runs off and drowns in the retention pond. It had to be pretty dark and he would have been disoriented.

Calling relatives in a panic would make sense. I mean, if the cousins were doing something to him why would they let him text, FaceTime, and call for help?

Well, they could be true but they can't all be true. Changing stories continually is a red flag for not telling the truth. Classic. Also, mom says he didn't carry a knife so that sounds out of character. Why would he arm himself to go with cousins? I'm having a hard time seeing this kid as the aggressor when he is the one calling out for help.

The "cousins" are not under age, and Gio did not take his belongings with him (from what has been reported). At least two of them have criminal records.
There are dispensaries all over Florida, you just have to show your medical card and ID. When you buy your product, they put a sticker with your name/info on it.
IMO.

I do not see photos, maybe if you copy/paste links would work unless it’s just my phone that is.
