I wish we could have cats. We used to have cats. But we also love and rescue dogs. One of our dogs is a cat murderer. He has killed four that we know of. If they manage to get into our fenced yard they are goners. So we cannot have cats in our household so long as that dog lives. He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. His prey drive is very very strong.

His ancestors were lion headers in Africa.
What is he mixed with?

I can’t tell @Tricia. When she stands, is she bulging a little on each side? ETA: I reached out to some friends in the rescue business up here, but it’s a long shot.

She is bulging a bit on the sides. I've got to try and catch her.

It's hard to tell with the way she is laying. How old are the kittens...if you know...

I had a feral mom that was still nursing 2 month old kittens and was already pregnant again. I didn't realize she was until I found the new ones abandoned in the hay barn. I bottle fed the only abandoned survivor and he's my very precious baby now...even though he's 13 years old.

I bought a trap and got them all neutered and spayed. I will buy you a trap Tricia and send it to you...they are easy to trap using hot dogs as bait. But you will need to get arrangements made for spay and neutering.

@sassyblue you are so kind. If you could text me and tell me what kind of trap and where you bought it I can buy one. Maybe you could give me some tips too. You have my cell right?

1936 — King Edward VIII Abdicates the Throne​

Edward VIII gave up the British crown to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson.
His brother became King George VI, father of Queen Elizabeth II.
One of the most dramatic royal shake-ups in modern history.
So, I’ve been going down a rabbit hole about King Edward VIII, and honestly, I don’t think we can fully imagine how huge it was when he gave up his throne for love. The closest thing I can compare it to in the U.S. is Richard Nixon resigning — and that’s only because Nixon was a crook. Let’s be real: he must have made some deal with Gerald Ford for a full pardon if he stepped down.

But Edward?
His abdication was for love.
It shocked the entire world.

And here’s the kicker — I learned this from The Crown, and then looked it up: after he left the throne and became the Duke of Windsor, he didn’t just sympathize with the Nazis… he may have actually encouraged them to harm his own countrymen.

It’s all in the Marburg Files, which confirmed what many people had suspected for years. Really shocking stuff.

You may have heard there is some disastrous flooding in the state of Washington right now. In the town where I live in the center of the state it's business as usual, but a mere seven miles away pines have river water around them and they wonder where the land went.

I wanted to share these two photos of Snoqualmie Falls, a 270-foot waterfall and tourist spot thirty miles east of Seattle. The skinny falls are how they are supposed to look and the wild falls are how they look now.

Guglielmo Marconi successfully transmitted the first radio signal across the Atlantic Ocean—a breakthrough that changed global communication forever.
Can you imagine how magical and unbelievable that must of been. Heck I don't understand radio waves today. I can't imagine being in the group that heard this first signal and trying to understand it all.


1964 – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Airs
The stop-motion holiday classic premiered on NBC and went on to become one of the most beloved Christmas specials of all time.

Do any of you remember the stop-motion Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special? It made me a complete nervous wreck.

I was little, but I already understood how stop-motion animation worked—and that knowledge absolutely ruined me. All I could think about was how long it must have taken to move everything one tiny bit at a time. My brother and I once tried to make our own stop-motion movie with toy dinosaurs, and it took us forever just to get them to walk a few steps.

So when I watched Rudolph after that, instead of enjoying it, I sat there stressed out, mentally calculating the endless hours behind every single scene. At six years old.

Yes, I was weird.
Still am.

I'm in Canada just a couple of hours north of Snoqualmie Falls and read online that the flooding has "crossed the border". I mean seriously, what's wrong with Canadian border guards that they can't stop Mother Nature at the border, eh?

I had to go down by the border this afternoon and on the way home there was bad traffic. I was being impatient so took another route "to get home faster". There were a few "road closed" signs, but there were cars coming towards me from one "closed road", so I thought well, they're driving through it. I went there !! ... until I stopped at the big flood across the road ahead of me. That's when I realized those cars that had been coming toward me were driven by idiots just like me who had disregarded the signs and had to turn around and go back

I mean, can't they make a sign that says "Road Closed .... REALLY" ?

What stressed you out as a kid?

I can't remember exactly how old I was but it was most likely when I was about 6, we watched an animated children's movie.

I remember a castle featured in it and there was one scene that scared me.
It was a dark night and there was the castle, very high up.
The scary scene for me was that it was so high up, it was a dark night and there was a rickity bridge to get to the castle.

That was the beginning of my fear of heights.
I would dream of falling.

That scene of the dark night and rickity bridge featured in many of my nightmares.

In one dream I dreamed I had fallen a long way and I was in a cage holding onto one of the bars and crying to get out.

I woke up from the dream when my mum came into the room.

I was under the bed holding onto a leg of the bed.
In my dream the leg of the bed had become a prison bar.

I held my breath and shut my eyes and got ready to die.

You see I had seen those initials TNT on TV and was expecting to be blown up any minute.
Of course I expected those trucks to be carrying dynamite.

It was only years later that I found out it was a truck company called Thomas Nationwide Transport

When I enter a plane to travel
I always have this weird thought
it might be my last time being alive
I never share these fatalistic thoughts with my fellow air travel companions hehe

It also seems
I am the only one who pays attention to cabin crew member explaining safety procedures before take off

I don't think it is phobia though
as I travel by air, though not frequently.
I cannot understand how people can willingly work in Civil Aviation.

I don't remember being scared of anything as a child.
Except maybe of my Chemistry teacher
She was very strict and demanding.
Chemical formulas were nightmare.

Yes, for sure the Washington flooding is terrifying and very widespread.

Yesterday I came across a video via KOMO news in Seattle in which a man purports to have filmed a herd of eight elk swimming on the Snoqualmie Middle School football field. I won't include a link because Facebook and all, but the video can be found pretty easily, and if true, it's quite the sight.
