I do that! I haven't always done it but I've been disappointed in the lack of flavour in many brands, most brands, so I've been doing that for about a year now.

I think it helps.
But nothing seems to have the taste and the feeling I used to get from tea growing up.

Will I have to go back to tea leaves I wonder. It's just the mess and disposing of tea leaves I wouldn't want to go back to.
It has to be tea leaves! Whenever I have tea made with a tea bag, it just tastes like vaguely flavoured hot water. Tea leaves give the proper tea flavour. I have a little teapot with an inbuilt strainer/infuser and you just pull out the strainer when you're done and pop the leaves in the compost bin. No mess.

TUESDAY DECEMBER 16TH 2025

A surprisingly heavy day in history.

1773 – The Boston Tea Party.
This was the night colonists dumped British tea into Boston Harbor. No speeches. No debates. Just enough is enough.

1944 – The Battle of the Bulge begins.
Hitler launched a massive surprise attack. It became the largest and bloodiest battle ever fought by the U.S. Army in WWII.

1985 – The Simpsons debut.
They first appeared as short cartoons on The Tracey Ullman Show. Nobody knew it would turn into the longest-running TV series ever.

1997 – Titanic hits theaters.
Eleven Oscars later… people were still arguing about whether Jack could’ve fit on that door.

History can be intense — so thank goodness it also gave us yellow cartoon families and epic movie drama.

I resisted seeing Titanic for years and years. Not a fan of the rom-dram and I already knew the ending; the boat sinks.

I watched it and I can't say it's one of my favourite movies, nowhere near.

People say oh the special effects are amazing, the boat sinking etc.
Well special effects long ago failed to keep my interest.

I prefer my movies with more of an interesting and thought provoking story line.

My all time favourite movie about the Titanic is A Night to Remember.

Re "Titanic"

STILL captivating :D

Hollywood Masterpiece.
James Cameron at the peak of his powers 👍

Catastrophic film & Melodrama that has become a Legend.

PS
To be watched in CINEMA
to fully appreciate it
and efforts put into making this film.

Worth every award it got.
(And got many)
A Genre Classic.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks to all the Guardians who came to our 8 hour Zoom call. It was a blast.
it is 1:50 A.M. so forgive me..i used A.I. to pull some facts together. Also i will get caught up on the thread later this afternoon. Now, let me introduce to you Chat Gtpxyz or whatever it's called. Version 5.
Trigger warning. Horror stories from Pearl Harbor

December 7, 1941 — A Day the World Changed

On this day in 1941, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor shattered a quiet Sunday morning in Hawaii and changed the course of history forever. In less than two hours, over 2,400 Americans were killed, nearly 1,200 were wounded, and the U.S. was forced into World War II.

The horror was unimaginable.

Young sailors were trapped inside sinking ships, pounding on steel walls as water rushed in. Some survived only because shipmates used torches to cut through burning metal to pull them out. Others were burned alive by exploding fuel, or drowned in oil-covered water while trying to escape. Nurses worked for days without rest, treating the wounded as the floors filled with blood. Many who survived carried those memories for the rest of their lives.

So few eyewitnesses remain now. That is exactly why we must never forget what they endured.

And Now… A Little Light After the Darkness

After reading about a day filled with such tragedy, it helps to remember that human joy still exists on this date too:

  • On December 7, 1949, the first-ever computer error (a real “computer bug”) was discovered, when an actual moth was found inside a machine at Harvard — proving that even technology has bad days.
Ok it's really me again. Is your retirement plan a weekly Powerball ticket? That's my plan. I am going to win any day now..I can feel it. Some people call me delusional. I say I am a sunny ball of optimism. Back later.
Tricia
I am late to this one, but I wanted to share a photo of the USS Arizona memorial under the moonlight. I had the honor of living on Oahu for several years and I could see Pearl Harbor from my back lanai. I visited often and it always took my breath away. The memorial sits right above where the ship sank. When you are standing in the memorial you can see the remains of the ship still in the water.

“Today, Arizona rests where she fell, submerged in about 40 feet of water just off the coast of Ford Island,” the National Park Service says. The ship isn’t all that remains underwater. More than 900 sailors and Marines could not be recovered, either. “The overwhelming majority of those men were cremated” in the blast, Blount explains. For Blount, a former Army officer who has worked at American military cemeteries in Italy and France, the memorial represents one thing: a cemetery — “a solemn resting place.”

This will be my first Christmas in forever that I will be alone.

Yes I was invited to travel with my friend to his daughters for Christmas.

After the last time I saw her which traumatised me so much I couldn't get out of bed for weeks, I never want to see or talk to her again.

I won't change my mind even if she apologised.
My friend said she has nothing to apologise for, she just "has his back"
It was all behind his back

i won't be totally alone, will talk to my daughters who live elsewhere and who knows, maybe my son too.

I might get a few snacks tomorrow for the week I'll be alone.

The thing is when Christmas day comes, those snacks might be long gone :)

I plan to visit my daughters in February, one lives in another state and one a few hundred kiometres away.

I'm quite excited to have some alone time with nice company ----ME :)

Today, the first-ever major misinformation broadcast was spread across the U.S.
Americans thought aliens were invading the US. Farmers grabbed their guns. One even shot at a water tower, thinking it was an alien ship.
We can't imagine the fear people must have felt when they thought Martians were coming to get them.
Orson Welles was BRILLIANT. Read below for the info.

🎶 1938 – A radio broadcast caused nationwide panic.
Orson Welles aired War of the Worlds, and people who missed the disclaimer thought aliens were actually invading Earth. People fled homes, called police, and panicked—proving misinformation has been a problem long before the internet.

Re the Christmas lunch last week, there were two different desserts.
You didn't get to choose

It was the same as last year so I knew one would be fruit cake and custard, and one would be pavlova.
I was so hoping I'd get the pavlova again. The fruit cake one was teeny.

The pavlova one was small too but more tasty to me, I don't like fruitcake all that much, it gives me a stomach ache sometimes.

Anyway they were bringing them around and it seemed ages before it was our tables turn and I worried the pavlovas would be all gone.

To my relief I got the pavlova and it looked yummy with a strawberry on top and my friend got the tinsy fruit cake one.
He looked at me with sad eyes and said did you really want that one, I'd be happy to swap.

He looked crestfallen when I said sorry but I really want this one :)

I tucked in and it was amazing, it was real cream and real fruit. Much better than last years, kind of like happiness on a spoon.

Later when I apologised for not swapping, he said it was ok, he enjoyed his, it was nicer than he thought it would be.

Well I just wanted to let everyone know what a meanie I am :)
