Give Us This Day Our Daily Thread December 1st through December 31st 2025

My partner has a longer than 24hours sleep cycle, so we tend to 'spin around'. Also, neither of us deal well with the heat, so we both end up semi nocturnal during summer. I actually take vitamin D despite living in Australia because I go outside at this time of year so little.

So, never try and figure out what Australian daytime is from my posts, because my sleep wake pattern is a moving target.

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY THREAD
MONDAY DECEMBER 22ND 2025

Good Monday morning my darlings. I hope you have a fantastic day today. Love all your posts. Keep them coming please.

On This Day in History – December 22

A little history, a little chaos, and a reminder that the world has always been weird…

🔹 1989 – A dictator’s rule collapses (on live TV!)
On this day, Romania’s longtime communist leader Nicolae Ceaușescu fled the capital after massive protests. Within days, his regime was over. It was one of the most dramatic endings to a dictatorship in modern history—and much of it unfolded on television. History with popcorn-level drama.

🔹 1968 – Humans head for the Moon 🌕
The astronauts of Apollo 8 were already on their way to the Moon today, preparing to become the first humans to orbit it just days later. Imagine casually floating through space right before Christmas. No big deal.

🔹 1894 – France convicts the wrong man ⚖️
French army officer Alfred Dreyfus was wrongly convicted of treason on this date, launching one of the most infamous miscarriages of justice in history. It took years for the truth to come out—proof that bad investigations and tunnel vision are nothing new.

Also...
Beata celebrates her Name Day 🥳 🌺

This name is very popular female name in Poland.
It comes from the Latin beatus
meaning blessed, bringing happiness :)

Waiting and singing...

"Shepherds came running to Bethlehem
Playing the lire for the Infant
Glory in the Highest!!!
Glory in the Highest!!!

And Peace on Earth!"

🎄 🌟

I love the Apollo 8 Christmas message. I'm not a bible reader but it's so moving in the context of where they were and what they were looking at. A truly unique moment.

Someone just walked past singing very loudly what I think was an out of tune and wobbly Christmas carol.

Made me smile.

If it was "perfectly" sung it wouldn't have filled me with happiness the way it did.

I live not far from a club and a pub so maybe someone going home the safe way, ie not driving.

I had UG boots, but a lot later, when they became popular here in the early 90s.
I still have two new pairs of them that I never wore.

I got tired of trudging around like a Yeti :)

Oh I see they are different to our UG boots that are made of sheepskin.

Wildly different!
Many split seams, plastic type cheap materials
The creative duct tape fixes always amusing

Uggs are very popular especially among younger women & teens paying $150 a pair for the slippers

You know what.
Once upon a time I didn't think this way, but I have come to love my insomnia

It feels nice to be awake when others are sleeping.
It's like being a bit of a rebel.

It's like it's the one time I feel truly free and can be myself.

ha ha. I DO get the good feelings of being up when others aren't. That is why I tend to get up around 4:45-5:00 in the am. I just love to get up when still dark... and others are still asleep.

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY THREAD DECEMBER 1st THROUGH DECEMBER 31st 2025
Here we go! 🎉 Our very first post in our very first Daily Thread!
However, CLICK HERE and read the practice Daily Thread.
Each day, I’ll drop in with a fresh post marked with the date so everyone knows exactly where to jump in. Then, when we wrap up the month, we’ll kick off a brand-new thread for January 2026. Let the daily fun begin! ✨
Below is a list of things that happened on December 1st.
Of course, I knew all of these historical events, and I did not have to use Google to find them.
Did you know that on December 1st, 2025, I told a big fat lie? Can you find it?

  1. 1955: Rosa Parks' arrest for refusing to give up her bus seat sparked the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott.
  2. 1865: Shaw University, the first historically black university in the Southern United States, was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina.
  3. 1862: President Abraham Lincoln reaffirmed the necessity of ending slavery in his second State of the Union Address, ten weeks after issuing the Emancipation Proclamation.
  4. 1878: President Rutherford B. Hayes got the first telephone installed in the White House
Me at 3 years old with the same haircut I had when I was six. It looks like a melted, deformed Tupperware bowl was put on my head, and whatever hair was showing was cut. This is my dog. His name is embarrassing, but he was innocently named back then.

I have a similar photo of my mum, sat beside her little black dog, who also had an then innocently used now embarrassing name.
