I stay clear of bathroom scales

You and me both.

Today I received a big box of all kinds of delicious nut and chocolate goodies from one of my daughters.
So far, none gone.

I have recently started back on my stepper bike, and walking.
I don't use scales.

I do the look and feel.
When I start to look or feel "chunky" I take action.
Or I start to "think about it" lol.

I feel like Scarlett O'Hara 🤣
Nice company, eh? ;)

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY THREAD DECEMBER 23rd 2025

1997: Humanity officially crossed the 6-billion population mark. That’s a lot of people.
Let's try to imagine this, shall we?
Six billion people, and yet all of us ended up on Websleuths "talking" with each other. Thinking about things like that freaks me out. Then again, maybe I need a nap. Ok. Coming live to you straight from Chat GPT, how to visualize 6 BILLION PEOPLE

🌍 Imagine the Whole Planet… Covered in People

If all 6+ billion people stood shoulder-to-shoulder (about 2 square feet per person):
  • They could all fit into an area about the size of Texas
  • With room left over
So when people say “the world is crowded,” what they really mean is people are crowded into certain places, not that Earth is full.

⏰ One Person Per Second… for Almost 200 Years

If you counted one person every second:
  • 60 people = 1 minute
  • 3,600 people = 1 hour
  • 86,400 people = 1 day

To reach 6 billion, you would have to count non-stop for about 190 years.

No sleep.
No bathroom breaks.
Just: “one… two… three…” 😵‍💫

🏙️ Cities, Cities, Cities

https://www.robertharding.com/watermark.php?im=RF%2FRH_RF%2FHORIZONTAL%2F1314-20&type=preview&utm_source=chatgpt.com

Think of New York City (~8.5 million people).

To reach 6 billion, you’d need:
  • About 700 New York Cities
  • Or 300 Tokyos
  • Or every human who has ever lived in the United States… multiplied by 18

🌾 Grain of Rice Test (This One Hits Hard)

https://images.pond5.com/pile-rice-grains-lies-rotating-footage-170135881_iconl.jpeg?utm_source=chatgpt.com

  • 1 grain of rice = 1 person
Now imagine:
  • A pile of rice so large it fills multiple football stadiums
  • And you’re told: “That’s the world’s population.”

Suddenly, 6 billion stops being a number and starts being a physical object.

What a busy chatty "morning" for you @tricia ...
Maybe this is why I do not like rice.... eating all those little people, and all.

23 December

I'm just dropping in to say hi 👋
and then I'm off back to kitchen to prepare food for tomorrow.

What is tomorrow?

Christmas Eve! 🌟

In Polish tradition
this day is the most important of all days - huge family gathering.
(I guess I can only compare it to American Thanksgiving Day with all relatives meeting)

Christmas Eve is called Wigilia
(from Latin vigilia - meaning vigil)
It is public holiday - no work.
So we celebrate 🥳 3 days of Christmas!

Anyway,
Traditional Wigilia Supper must have 12 dishes!!!
Lenten Dishes - no meat, only fish.

My favourites are:

Christmas Eve Borscht
(clear beetroot soup) served with uszka (little ravioli with forest mushrooms).

And Poppyseed cake! Delicious 😋

Also
Kompot - drink made of dried fruits. Heavenly!!!

Oh,
I also like🐠 Carp - the symbol of Christmas!

Sounds nice, eh??? 😀

OK guys,
I must hurry back to kitchen.
These dishes won't prepare themselves by themselves haha 😆

@Dotta ...looks and sounds fabulous...

uszka (little ravioli with forest mushrooms) yummmmm
and is the Kompot an alcohol drink or not??

NO alcohol on Wigilia!!!

On the remaining days of Christmas people choose wine with festive dinners.
Meat and all.
There is no Lent any more.

The Federal Reserve was created on December 23, 1913, when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act into law, establishing the central bank for the United States to provide a safer, more flexible financial system after major banking panics, particularly the Panic of 1907.
  • Key Date: December 23, 1913.
  • Legislation: The Federal Reserve Act.
  • President: Woodrow Wilson signed it into law.
  • Purpose: To create a central bank to stabilize the banking system, provide an elastic currency, and act as a lender of last resort.

I don't know how it happened but two things are now gone from my chocolate box gift.

The white chocolate and macadamia cookie.
And one of the vanilla and sea salt nutty bites.

Mmmmmmm :)

  • #411
I'm thinking of putting the big gift box of chocolate up in a high place.

Where it's not so easy to get at them ;)

I wouldn't recommend it!
It is easy to break a limb (or two)
while...
climbing furniture 😁

Better safe & plump
Than sorry and in plaster!!!

Besides,
Chocolate is to be eaten
and not to gather dust, right?

Of course right 👍

Listen to a teacher!
Teachers are always right hahahahaha 😀

That's a GREAT idea.

But, so it's not so heavy, you should princely take the chocolates out first.

I can help.

No the box will be up so high I will need the taller of my two ladders, the one that reached up to my 13 foot bedroom ceiling when I painted the room.

But where will I put them after I take them out.
I'll think of somewhere ;)

I couldn’t live in a big city. Too crowded and peoply.

Our Christmas Eve dinner will be simple. We will have sloppy Joes, potato Salad, chip, apple dumplings and brownie pie. It’s our tradition to go to candle light service at 5:00 then come home to a simple supper. We do Christmas different in our family and over time we’ve made new traditions that work for us. We will be celebrating over the coming week, starting on the 24th and ending on the 1st.
