A couple of my kitchen gadgets which I thought something was wrong with, it's now looking like it's the actual power point.

Too late for my old kettle which went out with the bin collection. It may have been ok.
I may have missed trying it in a different power point though some appliances work fine with the same power point so it never entered my mind the fault might lie with the power point.

So it could be more costly than just buying a new kettle and sandwich maker.

There are actually two power points next to each other and the other one works fine so I might put off getting an electrician in.

If I get someone in I might get them to replace a couple of light bulbs,
I just don't want to climb up 13 feet to have a go at it. Maybe if I had a third hand I'd have a try

I'm not a fan of high ceilings. I broke my foot (my only break in my life) when the ladder leg buckled. And my ceilings were only 8' high!!! My new house they're 9' high. I'm not thrilled about that but it's near impossible to get everything you want when it comes to buying a house. I got NO STAIRS, not even leading into the house or garage. I was thrilled because back when I was looking for a new house, I was specifically looking for one with level property because I was having a hard time walking on slopes (I had a sloped driveway) or stairs or curbs. And this was 6 months after my break! I thought my limp and issues was going to be my new way of walking. Turns out I lost the limp and issue with stairs and slopes after 8 months, but how was I to know?

Anyway, back to high ceilings which I dislike... another thing I'm looking into are replacing a light/fan over the kitchen island. To me, it's safer if you only have to reach up into the unit to change the bulb. Not go up higher on a ladder in order to reach down for the bulbs. It's a safety issue in my mind and none of us are getting any younger.

I care. It's part of your decor.

I'd never thought about it that much til those stainless steel fridges come in.

I think they look fine in food businesses.

I don't think they look nice at all in someone's home.

You're not going to like my fridge then. I think SS looks better than white or black plastic looking fridges. (Apologies to all that have white or black plastic looking fridges. lol)

What I've been curious about his how they figured out and invented MRI machines. SO MUCH goes into them and the slice and dice your innards into 2D & 3D images! Way cool!

Where X-rays and TMI Merge

I was probably 30, in for an x-ray of my hip. Mind you, I'm a seasoned patient, smart. I dress for the occasion, purposefully avoiding metal. No zippers, no buckles. In the hope that I won't have to 'gown up' and can stay in my street clothes.

They prep me, I assure them I have come prepared, no hard metals at'all, even left my earrings, necklaces, rings, all of it at home.

Xrays commence.

Imagine my horror when my xrays lit up like a Christmas tree. Erm, a birthday cake. Turns out, those cute little bedazzled gemstones on my adorable panties weren't plastic.

It wasn't even my birthday.

Carry on.

Inquiring minds want to know why you'd think (and I quote) "dressing for the occasion", with said "occasion" being a visit to a doctor/medical office/hospital... that you'd need to wear your best and prettiest gemstone panties?

Now the stainless steel fridges are where we differ.
I cringe when I look at them. There's nothing stylish about them,

They look sterile and don't make my heart feel happy.
Small amounts of stainless steel appliances nice, if they have some style

My white fridge fills me with happiness when I look at it.

I like the look of those retro Smeg fridges too except for how expensive they are.

But I'm happy for others to feel differently

Since we're already mentioning my unmentionables, I might as well bare it all.

True story, retold --

It matters where you wear your panties.

I'm at a mall store with my then 10 year old daughter. Shopping a huge sale, we were in the store for eons. I send her to check us out and I go wait for her in the mall proper. Remember these two facts. I use a wheelchair. I was single. Always on the look out. I see a nice-looking guy sitting on a bench. No ring. I pull my chair alongside the bench, all casual like, waiting for my daughter.

I happen to glance down. Somewhere, while I was shopping, my brake somehow snagged a pair of purple lace panties, XL.

He noticed them at the same moment I did.

There's no recovering from that.

And also no good way to explain yourself when you have to return purloined purple underpants to the store.

I'm still single.

As a contractor's wife I have never lived in a fully finished home in our 20 plus years of marriage. Husband would always claim he was going to get round to finishing some task in our own residence but never did. mainly because his thought process was, other people's homes make me money, my own does not So I have lived in several "unfinished " homes through the years.

So for the last three years my husband has been renovating the house across the street from our current home. This is meant to be our last home. Once we move in over there we do not plan to move again unless it's to a condo in Florida. So my husband is adamant that we will not move in over there until it is completely finished. every piece of trim, every nail, paint, etc. I get it and he is probably right because he knows himself. And if we take occupancy before it is complete it never will be lol. He works on it on evenings in the summer months and on weekends. It is his labor of love.

That said, it frustrates me looking at this beautiful home across the street that is meant to be mine and yet is not quite yet. I feel it is teasing me, just beyond my reach.

I adore the kitchen over there that husband has designed and created just for me. It is beautiful and full of gorgeous all brand new stainless steel appliances. I LOVE them. So sleek and shiny, calling to mind a commercial kitchen. Sterile is a good word MOO. I cannot wait to cook in that kitchen and host dinners lovingly made by me in that home.

My newish fridge is a Kelvinator and so far I'm very happy with it.
Plus my electricity bill went down.

My old fridge which was a Philips lasted 37 years.

My dream fridge is a retro fridge, as is my kitchen. Love the 1930s-40s vintage look. My current fridge is stainless because that was the only one available in the size I needed at Lowe’s. I like the imitation stainless best because it is easier to clean than real stainless.

And I’m no fan of high ceilings either. Now that DH and I are older there is no more getting on ladders. So we have to wait for one of the kids to come change light bulbs.

DH bought me a she shed so I could consolidate all my sewing and crafting supplies into one space instead of 2 rooms and spread all over the house if I was working on a project.

It's lovely and has 2 attic spaces so I decided my smaller bins of fabric would go up there and he walked in when I was balanced on a small step ladder trying to lift boxes over my head to the attic.

He's not a yelling kind of man but he did that day...get down right now! So I now have a 7 step ladder with guardrails and a shelf to stack the bins on so they are ready to go once I go up the steps. He probably saved my life!
