And this one. Make sure you're wearing clean underwear in case of an accident.
How could I have forgotten that one?And this one. Make sure you're wearing clean underwear in case of an accident.

And here’s a really weird one from my neighbor’s mother: “If you wash blankets in May, you’ll wash family away.”
"Santa is watching"
I had never heard of it before my friend told me about it, but she’s a firm believer. Rather than wash a dirty blanket in May, she’s been known to go out and buy new ones.As it got me intrigued
I asked Uncle Google
Washing blankets in May is a tradition associated with bad luck,
with folklore suggesting it will
"wash one of the family away".
This superstition is found in various cultures, including British and Irish traditions.
Practically,
the best time to wash blankets depends on how often they are used and the material,
rather than the month.
Hmmm...
This is the 1st time I hear this superstition.
What? No coal?"What will he bring you?
A stick or a??"
What? No coal?

I can’t find a translation from Polish to English. But I got coal every single year.Nope.
This ( the picture ) is for naughty children
But I don't know the English word.
In Polish it is "Rózga"
I never got it

Not words as much as expressions. We were big into eye rolls.Did anyone go to school and realise their parents had taught them words for things, and that none of the other kids used those words.
And later when I could read I discovered it was not only the other kids who didn't use those words, I was never able to find anyone else ever using them apart from our family![]()
