This was happening right near where my parents live. The guy has now been arrested and driven away, but I am glad I did not learn till tonight how close to home this incident was. Incidentally, this is also the area where Kevin Hicks went missing. My parents knew about the gunman as the care agency they use rang to warn them and explain the carers might not get through. (They did.)
My daughter and I were just saying that in the US they guy would probably have been shot by now. Eight hours is a long time to negotiate. It seems to be a domestic rather than terrorist related, but gosh a guy has been waving a gun and threatening to kill people right where my parents live.
