so sad this week for me. I am a Gleek, so this was a shock. I didnt even know about his past drug issues.

He seems like such a nice guy. How did he start drinking and taking drugs at such an early age. From what I can gather he was in serious problems by 13. I wonder what his home life was like.
It happens when parents aren't involved in their kids lives. We have a niece that started smoking at age 11. Older brother and his friends did it. Parents were negligent. Now at age 30, she has a hard time quitting...

I'm shocked and saddened. I loved him on Glee!!! I so wanted him & Rachel to be married. Wonder what her character will do now?
RIP Cory, too young... my condolences to his family...
I'll try to memorialize him somehow when I'm in Vancouver in a couple of weeks...

I wonder if it was suicide. It seems strange that he was "obviously deceased" and no foul play determined so early. Canadian media would be much more discreet about what they report, especially early on. Maybe he left a note ?

It bothers me that even with his history people assume he died from overdose. Just like Sage Stallone. It turns out he had a heart condition.

Poor guy died at 31. That is enough of a tragedy

I agree. But I think our minds just naturally go there. We should all keep an open mind though and not judge (for lack of a better word) without all the facts.

It seems like we are seeing more and more celebrity overdose deaths. Some of the most talented people are the most troubled. It's terribly sad.

I think we need to stop ourselves from going there. The media makes more cash if we all fall into the trap of believing the worst in people or judging other people pain and struggles.

We have to start thinking if this was me or my loved one what would I contribute. We need to be better than the culture of judge first/apologize later.

His history? What do you mean by that, exactly? When I hear hooves, I think of horses, not zebras.

well usually 31 year olds dont drop dead of heart problems if they were fit and didnt have a history of health issues in the past. There have been plenty of former addicts that have had heart attacks, but a lot of the time the past drug abuse has caused lots of damage.

I watched the news this morning and they are saying there was drugs found in his hotel room, but they havent released what kind or how much. If this was a family member I want people to know the truth and not sugar coat it.

I agree with you. I know Cory did die of an overdose... but I hate that was the assumption.
My Aunt died in June. She had a history of meth. She had been sober for a few months.

I am not convinced it was a drug overdose. Using those drugs takes a toll on your body.
We are not famous or wealthy so we have to wait several weeks for toxicology. I hope it's clear.

How is it Canadian coroners can give a cause of death after a couple of days while in the US and UK it takes months and sometimes longer? Think Amy Winehouse and Heath Ledger.

Tests themselves don't take months. But there could be backlog so they have to wait for samples to be run.
Obviously they didn't have to wait for samples to be run in this case.

...

What should one assume when a young person with history of drug use dies?
Like I said, when I hear hooves, I think of horses, not zebras.

I doubt many are surprised by how he died. I'm not. Unfortunately, some demons just won't go away.
