To punish her she would need to be alive.
But on the other hand, wouldn't she be screaming at him seeing this atrocity? The neighbour heard nothing. Maybe after killing his wife he was still mad and jumped on the poor dog.

You know, I think he let the baby say goodbye to her Mom.
By putting her on her dead mother's body before he wrapped himself up and waited for police to arrive? Sounds cold and insensitive to me. The poor baby was trying to wake her up. A child her age doesn't understand anything about a final goodbye. Imo

Unless he was setting up a scene of those savage foreigners. No one would think that a cultured man like himself would do that do a loved pet.

Maybe not loved by him, but maybe the dog had to go as proof that some hoard of foreign savages did this.

But he could have put the baby in the crib, right? He put her next to Caroline as if letting the daughter spend last moments with Mommy. Well, it just crossed my mind. Even monsters have feelings. MOO

I remember the Police saying they'll never get over the scene of the baby trying to wake up her dead mother.

I don't think what he did was kind at all. I think it was cruel beyond words.

I wonder if he killed the dog first and let her know about it ?
Didn't the neighbor hear the dog barking around 4:30? I guess it depends on when he actually killed her. He would have needed a lot of time to stage the scene. The dog may have sensed that something was wrong, started barking and he killed it to keep it quiet. Imo

No! The dog was crying/whimpering. There was no barking. Please see our earlier discussion about this point.

I knew it all along!

My hinky meter has been the strongest it's ever been over this case.

When I thought of the case every nerve in my body was like a warning bell going off saying it was him that did it.

Me too. How bloody depressing though - assuming the police have it correct, Caroline is yet another lovely woman murdered by the one person who should have been her biggest protector. Violence against women is a curse, a worldwide disease.

Totally agree. He had no feelings for any one except himself.

Nice thought Dotta, but attributed to a remoresless monster. He used his baby to play on the heart strings of police arriving and to distract them from their surroundings IMO. She has no concept of saying goodbye, and leaving her trying to rouse her dead unresponsive mum is not a caring act, in my world.

I wrote about MY feelings and opinion - how would I know how a murderer thinks? I remember when I saw his post "Together forever" I got chills. It sounded like "If I cant be with you - nobody else will".

Even if he did that, it would have been for his own benefit. Neither Caroline or her child will never know anything about a last goodbye. But yes, maybe in his own twisted mind he thought he was letting her say goodbye.

And I say "twisted" because the thought of him saying, "Say goodbye to mommy," while her mother is lying there dead seems like something a psychopath might do.

Ah yes, there it is!
Can't have your wife being allowed to do that, now can we.

Caroline wanted to leave, and take the baby with her, something he did not accept.

This how I interpreted it as well.

Not after all that time he invested in grooming her when she was a child. If he couldn't have her, nobody would.

The article I read said the neighbor heard barking that sounded like the dog was fighting with one of the cats. It gave me the idea it was aggressive barking. Imo

That reporting was disproved - the neighbor actually said in an actual interview something akin to 'whimpering.' Again, please see our previous discussion and relevant links.
