He released his first statement to the press since his arrest through his lawyer, Alexandros Papaioannidis and said: 'My concern is for our child, Lydia. I send well wishes to both of our families. I am devastated about everything I did, I did it with my child in mind.'
"..well wishes.."
paraphrasing:
Sorry about killing crazy Caroline (and her dog) but I did it all for my kid

The report reveals Caroline had several bruises on her body
So he did go back the next day to answer more questions. I hadn't seen that report before so I thought it was all one day. I'm surprised his lawyer allowed him to answer more questions since the second version is more incriminating. At first he said he was hugging her and holding her tightly, the next time he said he was pushing her down trying to make her "listen."

He said he told Caroline what she did to L was very bad. He was lying on top of her, but didn't know if he pushed her head down into the pillow with his hands? Was he lying on top of her head? He said he told her 2-3 times. I guess that means he kept pushing his body onto her, repeating over and over that what she did was bad.

The whole story sounds ridiculous. I doubt he said much at all while he was smothering her. Either that or whatever he said was much worse. I think he definitely used his hands to push her head into the pillow.

I didn't see any mention of bruises but I'm curious what part of her body they were on.

Babis will be able to explain them by the fact that C was a kickboxer and admitted fighting him in diaries.

(BTW, am surprised the diaries have been released at this stage).

Yes, he did, on Friday, after it came out publicly that the coroner said that C's heart rate indicated she'd been sleeping up until minutes before her death. You know, so his narrative fit more properly, although I don't know why he would care. I'd really like to know where those bruises were too!

Does that mean that he fought back and that's how she got those bruises?

Ya, those diary entries - do we know for sure yet that she actually wrote them? There's been a lot of online discussion about the tone being more like a cold writer than a deeply emotional 20 year old woman.

Re- Bruises we don't know. He could argue that she sustained the bruises whilst hitting/kicking him. Do we have the date of the diary entries?

Am in no way defending him, just looking at how things may be presented.

My own feeling is that there was huge jealousy when baby Lydia was born. Just look at the way Caroline looks at her baby! Babis felt jealous and left out and that is where the problems started.

IMO all of this was pressurised on Carolina as PND by Babis, it makes no sense that her parents/friends had no idea. And she had to go to fake person (not even sure sure nowadays what label to give her) with him, possibly without knowing why.

He knew she wanted to leave him, the baby whom he no doubt loved, was his leverage to try to prove she was an unfit mother.

IMO

I am new here! This might help:

"Injuries were found on the victim's lips and tongue, as well as on the neck where the abrasion may be due to the use of a sharp object. In the genetic organs, on the other hand, there were no signs of betrayal.

What causes shudder is the degree of facial falsification, as 'multiple suffocating spots are identified,' as the report specifically states. Extensive bleeding is also visible in the eyes.'"

I'm so sorry for the confusion, the article does mention bruises on the body, but it's in tiny print and easy to miss. These are different from the facial injuries. Sometimes I read so fast, things go past me! Ok, so, here is the Internewscast.com link again, with the screenshot to show you where it mentions the bruises. Could these bruises be from an older fight?

Im beginning to think that both C and B were equally obssessed with each other - both addicted to this strange, love/hate, toxic and destructive "relationship". But it is only my hyphotesis. They were both struggling mentally.

They were in a codependent relationship.

They were in a codependent relationship.

Definitely, but she was a child for most of it, and, as the police psychologist said (via lifo.gr), it is not normal for a 29 or 30 year old male to pursue a 15 or 16 year old teen.

Apparently both families are in agreement that B's parents should raise the baby.

Yes, the headline is misleading and doesn’t fit the narrative.
It was the article itself that I found to be of interest. I should have mentioned that when posting it! :)

B's lawyer seems to be quite aggressive - I read he has already accused police of "a fiasco of investigation" (???). He is very experienced, defended 11 people accused of murder. Well, an aggressive, experienced lawyer - what else can a defendant wish for? Im afraid a leaked Journal is only a beginning.

Two families in a state of shock following Caroline Crouch's murder while joint custody is considered

Snipped
During the first ten days of investigations he appeared strangely cooperative, showing an overwhelming calmness. During one of the many meetings with homicide detectives, he expressed his opposition to references regarding his personal matters and was outraged by statements made by Caroline’s psychologist which revealed that the murdered woman considered her marriage to be far from perfect.

“I want to sue her,” he told a police officer, but soon changed his stance.

For the second 10-day period following his wife’s murder, he appeared a desperate man forcing himself to stand on his feet for the sake of young Lydia, the baby found crying beside her murdered mother.

He was outraged when police referred to Caroline’s life insurance. “How can such things be said by police officers,” he said, brushing off the notion that this could be a motive.

Statements made by a neighbour proved crucial to solving the case, and it was one of the ‘keys’ which lead the police to the suspect.

On 11 May, the neighbour had said that she heard the dog whimpering before hearing someone go down the stairs whom she suspected was Babis who had gone down to calm the animal as the noises stopped. She said that at 6.15am she had a call from her neighbour and heard moans. It was then that she realised that something was wrong and alerted the police.

I read that she would have turned 20yo in July, 2021 so she was only 19yo. Her birthdate is on her grave.

Why is the press saying she was 20 when she was still a bloody teen??? Do they just consider the couple months a technicality? Is it a cultural thing? She was a teenage bride until the end!

For anybody who'd like to see, the DM has a pic of her grave site, as @Estelle pointed out.

Maybe the land purchase was the first step in bringing his plan to fruition, giving him the opportunity to say there was a leak about a large sum being in the house. It's too coincidentally close to the murder for my liking and the story about the torture wouldn't have worked without that element.

Like you, I seldom believe these domestic murders come out of the blue during "a fight" one night.

He will have been toying with the idea for some time. Thinking how he could do it. Drawing inspiration for reported home invasions. The other thing we know about these guys is they are very controlling, until they move on - then the life of the victim is nothing to them.

Likely we are going to find something in the background where he made the calculation that CC was now a problem for him, rather than someone to be possessed.

I think the comparison to Pistorius is an apt one. A guy on the fringes of crime, increasingly reckless. We just never found out what Reeva was threatening to reveal.

What may have happened, is CC forced him to act before he was ready.

Although the link has been given, I have not observed a post about the joint custody yet.

The two families had very good relations. Haralambos’ brother, Fotis Anagnostopoulos, rushed to the Crouch family’s aid following the young woman’s death and took care of little Lydia.

Caroline’s mother always held deep respect for her son-in-law’s parents, whose father Kostas Anagnostopoulos was a civil engineer and mother Georgia was a teacher.

When asked by the press about the future of the young baby, she said that she did not know what the future would hold but stated that she would not like to deprive Lydia of her paternal grandparents.

A mutual friend of the two families told Proto Thema newspaper that the two families are likely to keep cordial ties for the sake of baby Lydia, whose mother is dead and father in prison. Protothema.gr reports that the child’s paternal grandparents will ask for joint custody.

At the moment, Caroline’s mother is in a state of shock.

I am a little confused because before I read this article, I thought that B had Lydia with him. But it says above that Fotis looked after Lydia. But wasn't that only only during and after the memorial? Now it appears that B's parents have Lydia as C's father is housebound and her mother is in shock. Joint custody sounds like a good idea as Lydia could holiday with C's parents in the school holidays on the island. But B will want to have Lydia when he comes out of prison and what will they do then? IMO B should lose his parental rights forever. It appears that both families will cut him out but it could be risky once he is free again.

And the Oscar Pistorius goes to...

Could the injuries be due to her trying to use a phone and him trying to take it off her.
